Today myself and Alma Aurea had a circular walk from Nether Row (Caldbeck). We climbed High Pike 658m, Hare Stones 627m, Drygill Head 622m, Miton Hill 607m, Round Knott 603m, Carrock Fell 662.3m and down via West Fell 511m. Cloudy early on clearing to full sun halfway and great views. /Dmeltdiceburg02/09/2023
Route 1 from the marvellously named apronful of stones. Possibly not the best decision I ever made. I feel the lack of oxygen tanks at the top may need looking into. But Boo and I made it. Funnily enough it was never in doubt for one of us.Alphaville19911/08/2023

A revisit to Carrock Fell and High Pike taking in all the surrounding Birketts and Synges, some of which I may have previously summitted before I recorded peaks. Parked on the moorland road near Calebreck, then followed the rough road up by Carrock Beck, before ascending Red Gate to the ridge to Carrock Fell, taking in Miton Hill and Round Knott en route. Then west to Drygill Head, and along a charming minor track over Hare Stones, Great Lingy Hill, and Miller Moss, before rougher country to Little Lingy Hill. Back to below Hare Stones before considerable descent to Birk Hill and re-ascent to High Pike. Then easy going back to Calebreck via West Hill. 19km with 800m ascent in just under 6 hours.silverwolf_alan14/05/2023

Nuttall 1.3 Parked at the end of the surfaced road leading to Carrock Mine. Nuttalls' 'grassy slopes providing an easy ascent' have been taken over by 6' high bracken, so the first part was more like hacking through wet jungle. Great summit cairn over looking Blencathra and Great Calva with again a much needed wind shelter as it was the windiest summit to date overtaking the last summit of 2016 Angletarn pikes. were we both were so hungry and weak we ate every bit of food we had while sheltering from the weather. broke my hoody before moving onto to High PikeScotty 2 Hotty06/08/2017

I parked to the north of Mosedale just past Stones. I took the path past a small quarry and up on to the lower slopes. These were covered in slushy snow. Higher up as I followed the gully on to the ridge the snow became much deeper. Once on the ridge I was treated to heavy stinging snowfall and zero visibility. The snow on the ground was in places up to my thighs. Eventually got to the top but I abandoned High Pike for another day. I returned the way I came glad I was kitted with ice axe as it was treacherous. When the cloud opened the views were stunning. Did see a Stonechat and a few Ravens. No sign of any other walkers.isabelle19/11/2016

I camped overnight and started the walk from Calebreck – Carrock’s simple side, says Wainwright. The ascent from Mosedale involves patches of scree, and Wainwright’s view is that the fell should not be climbed in mist from this angle. There was plenty today. My the time I reached Miton Hill I could see nothing – I was very close to High Pike but could have been anywhere. The GPS helped me reach the summit, and although the descent the same way via Carrock Beck was pleasant, the summit could still not be seen.peter4lc26/08/2008

Great route from Stone Ends via Rake Trod. Good rock scenery- unusual for the Northern Fells- due to Gabbro outcrop, unusual in Lakeland. Hill Fort summit makes this a very worthwhile hill by any standards. With Pete today on a circular walk; done on a point-to-point in 1976 (see Knott log)pwheeler07/09/1991
With Nick and Toby (CUHW). Train from Stockport to Penrith, Lift to Threlkeld, Hall's Fell, Blencathra, Mungrisedale Common, Bannerdale Crags, Bowscale Fell, Carrock Mine, Gt Lingy Hill Hut (Bothy). Evening walk to High Crag and Carrock Fell before a cold night in the hut.jigglybones02/04/1991
