One little note: the recent SMC guide says that at Coileitir, 'follow a [mudbath] path on the left round the fence', which is also what a sign about privacy says. But there is now a big construction road around the right-hand edge, which is much more satisfactory. | Pete R | 27/08/2022 |
Ben Starav 5 Munros. Steven Fallon's route - East of Glen Etive | hummusg | 27/07/2022 |
Ben Starav, Stob Coire Dheirg, Beinn Nan Aighenan, Meall Nan Tri Tighearnan, Glas Bheinn Mor. Lovely day very warm and sunny. Still a tiny patch of snow at the head of the Corrie wall just to SE of summit. But if scrambling to Stob Coire Dheirg. Slog out and back to Beinn Nan Aighenan where I decided to do just the 3. Also had to drink from streams due to heat and sweating. Rest of walk was enjoyable. Time taken including stops 8 hours 50 minutes for 14 miles. | isabelle | 06/06/2022 |
With Glas B M and nan Aighenan, widdershins from Coileitir. Beautiful day – smattering of snow/ice on highest tops, some sunshine, a little high cloud. After driving from Wilms and burst tyre, slept at head of loch Etive. | Rounsfell | 21/11/2021 |

Ben Starav, Meall Cruidh, Stob an Duine Ruaidh, Stob Coire Dheirg, Beinn nan Aighenan, Glas Bheinn Mhor. Circuit from Glen Etive, avoiding the hydro works that are on-going. | Geoff Briggs | 07/08/2021 |
Good hill day while staying at the Ochils Mountaineering Club cottage in Crianlarich over the weekend, bagging Ben Starav (1078m) and Glas Bheinn Mhor (997m), at the bottom of Glen Etive. As part of the circuit you also go over the Munro Top of Stob Coire Dheirg (1027m), I had planned on including the adjacent Munro of Beinn nan Aighenan, but in the end I didn’t fancy the +300m extra ascent for this outlier.

It was a beautifully sunny day with a moderate SW breeze, 9hrs all in (incl. a nap on the 2nd Munro).

The A82 trunk road was closed due to an accident just south of the Glencoe Ski Centre, so I turned around to go along the coastal route, only to develop a flat rear passanger tyre. Pulling into the Three Sisters viewpoint car park and after much faffing I got all the nuts off, but the wheel wouldn’t shift. When the AA man arrived, he whacked it with a mallet a few times and the flat tyre just fell off (I’ll need to pack a large hammer next time), I only got back to the cottag | chillyman8 | 19/09/2020 |
tough day out and not very clear weather with Brian Smith. | Kevthecat | 16/09/2020 |
Rough bolder climb near top after a good straightforward climb up a good route. Misty day climbed with Kev Smith followed by the climb of Glas Beinn Mhor before the 2 miles of bog and water to get back down. | supermario | 16/09/2020 |
A circuit of Ben Starav and its Tops from the Glen Etive road by the Coileitir turning. Slow going on a hot day, albeit the views are worth taking time over. Three deer watched me as I drank from a stream between Stob Coire Dheirg and Meall Cruidh. | Nick Down1 | 03/08/2019 |
