Checkpoint at summit of this knoll on day 2 of the Short Score of the OMM with Darren. Just 4 hours today from Cockley Bridge back to Stool End Farm choosing our own controls. Now in driving rain which was to last for our last 2 hours and thick cloud dropped for our awkward (crag and boulders to skirt) route alongside the west side of Crinkle Crags picking up 3 controls. My reading glasses rained up and became bleary and useless. I misread control BK as BX which caused much unneeded faffery on steep craggy ground as we hunted for a crag foot rather than knoll top until D spotted it by good fortune! I need to switch to contacts. We were 5th today, 7th yesterday - 4th overall -which doesn't seem statistically possible but is! V Pleased that D's knees held out my lingering vague post fatigue virus may well have gone? A good test!Chris Pearson30/10/2022
