A 15.5 mile walk. High Tongue (234m) as a warm up, then Wallowbarrow Crag (292m), Wallowbarrow Heald (371m), Iron Crag (408m), Birker Fell - White How (444m), Great Worm Crag (427m), Birker Fell - Great Crag (333m), Broad Crag - Birker Fell (372m), Green Crag (488m), Crook Crag (469m), Great Whinscale (427m), Dow Crag (404m) and finally Harter Fell (Eskdale) (653m). The cloud was low all day so I'd opted for lower fells which worked well as these were all out of the cloud, except Harter. Harter did dip out a couple of times for photos but it was back in the cloud by the time I arrived. It was a tough going walk, ferns and bogs so quite a demanding day, but nice to explore this area in detail. I had some sun and some showers and some nice views in atmospheric conditions. Nice to be on higher firmer terrain after all the earlier bogs. Great views up here.meltdiceburg12/07/2023

Possibly the worst rain conditions to date I have walked in. Nearly retreated over the bogs of doom near Green Crag but persevered. 8.2 miles 2639 ft elevationnell158312/11/2021
After a fine day on Black Combe, I just had time to bag Green Crag for my 3rd round of Wainwrights, leaving just 10 to complete this round. A walk across the desolate moor from the cattle grid on the Birker Fell road. Outward direct across the very swampy ground, returning via the drier White How in the fading light. 8km with 320m ascent in 2 hours. (S)silveracorn_alan30/10/2021
