From Fort William Bus Station, walked along the road to Achintee and began my ascent on the Mountain Path. There are thousands of other reports on Ben Nevis but to summarise, it is physically challenging and the weather is notoriously unpredictable. It beggars belief that I saw an Asian couple leading their crying child, no more than 8 years old, down the mountain. I faced everything from clear skies to snow within the 2h 30mins it took me to reach the top. There were a few sections of snow to contend with, despite it being June. Alas no views from the top.hillbagger9112/06/2022
CMD, Ben Nevis. Missed the turnoff for the CMD path and only noticed when near the CIC - scrambled up the side of CMD and witnessed an airlift from the cliffs of the north face directly opposite, topping out at Carn Dearg MeadhonachBarns15004/06/2022
OMC camping map at Roybridge, with Simon Walsh, I parked just before the North Face car park (as it was already full) at 07:35. Started at 07:50, followed track for CIC Hut then cut off up the boggy 'path' for CMD once past the forestry. Left phone 200m shy of summit, but noticed quickly so was able to nip down to find it. Went over the summit of Carn Dearg Meadhonach (MT) then Carn Mor Dearg (M). The Arete was no where near as bad as I had expected, one short narrow area (600mm wide) but it could have been bypassed, I just walked over it. Once on top on Ben Nevis (M) the crowds were too much. We raced down to the lochan to try and get clear of all the tourists in jeans and trainers, playing near to snow cornices... Pathless section from lochan back to CIC Hut track, fine with gaiters. Sunny all day, fantastic views, 11:20hrs all in.chillyman804/06/2022

I started from the Ben Nevis Inn carpark very early (5 am) and I reached the summit at 8:20. At this time weather was really fine. Coming back i crossed a real crowd but with a diversion I encircled lake Meall an t-Suidhe and the reached the Meall an t-Suidhe summit, where I met a single hiker.Pampuco02/06/2022
Carn Mor Dearg and Ben Nevis from the Visitor Centre car park. Followed tourist track to the halfway lochan. Then over to the CIC hut, from where an unremittingly steep ascent of 350m took me to Carn Beag Dearg. A fine ridge walk over to Carn Dearg Meadhonach to Carn Mor Dearg, and then the excellent CMD arete to the Ben, affording fine views of the north face. Arrived at the snow covered summit of the Ben at 4.15pm with many visitors and extensive panoramic views in the clear and sunny weather. Followed the zig zags down with a diversion across to bag the two Carn Dearg NW tops. My 15th ascent of the Ben, but first time in 15 years, so great to revisit such a great mountain expedition again. 22km with 1700m ascent taking 10 hours.silverwolf_alan28/05/2022

Solo after Aonachs & CMD arête, thin mist on summit itself annoyingly, though excellent views from all points lower. Huge crowds on top, litter, queue for summit! Pressed on, jogging down the path, overtaking hundreds and somehow not falling despite nearly stumbling a few times. Left crowds at NN147724 to cross outflow of loch and descend N, not really a path but not difficult, joined path and LRT by Allt a' Mhuilinn but it was still a surprisingly and annoyingly long way down LRTs to car, after a long day!NorfolkPT2119/07/2021

My first time up Ben Nevis while trying to do the three peaks challenge (currently stuck on a closed road on the way out of Scotland so remains to be seen if we will complete the other two today) Good day for it. Amazingly, no rain. Some cloud but snatched views on way up and back (although nothing from summit). No wind so midges were a real issue. Just under 3 hours up and, in total, just under 5 hours. Great to finally tick this mountain off the list.MysteriousSue02/08/2019

First and highest peak of the 3 peak challenge - Ben Nevis. We'd been deciding for a long time whether we were going to do this this weekend, what order, and what times, until we decided to stop checking to forecast and go for it! Driven the long way up past Loch Lomond, not even enough time to stop, and started the walk at 17:07 in the rain. We went up and down the mountain track. It rained most of the time, we were to wrapped up and got very hot very quickly. But chalenge spirits high, we delayered and continued on with no veiws. Upon reaching what we thought would be a loch that we couldn't see, a small water break until continuing on.It wasn't until the small river crossing that we could see the loch we were looking for behind us. Then came the 8 relentless switchback, back and forth with lots of people on the track. Finally, the last scramble over the top with tall looming carins to guide the way through the mist, we made it to the top for a quick photo, and began the decent. AlthByronHaywood05/07/2019

With RO and group and guide Hugo. From the visitor centre. 6 hours up, 5.5 hours down on account of very mixed abilities in the group. Cool, calm, dry, but thin cloud from 1,000m, quite ethereal at the summit. Still one quite large snow patch to walk through. With friends Rhona Fraser, Robin Howie and Ken Thomson. To celebrate my 80th birthday I had previously ascended the highest mountains of England, Wales and Northern Ireland (Scafell Pike, Snowdon and Slieve Donard). Today I completed the celebration with the ascent of Ben Nevis by the tourist route from Glen Nevis Visitor Centre. The weather forecasts had been for not so good weather but the day before the forecast changed for the better to no rain and this was, indeed, the case on the day. Lots of others were making the ascent including a lady also celebrating her 80th birthday by making the ascent. I hope she succeeded.pwbellarby26/08/2017

Second county top in Scotland and just as cloudy and wet as the first but at least there was little wind today. I found coming back down the tourist route almost as difficult as going up - hopping from boulder to boulder along the 'path'. Of course erosion is a problem for the authorities and it's not helped by those that don't keep to the path or ignore the request not to take short-cuts.Newton Maximus04/09/2016

With David S. Had arranged the day months in advance, too bad how it turned out. Dull and cloudy at low level, waves of sleet and rain further up, very snowy and icy underfoot. Got to about 1084m then finally gave up when the group in front stopped to put their crampons on. Unsurprisingly, following day was a lot better but sadly had to depart.Glengavel03/05/2016

Headed up the tourist track to Ben Nevis to attempt a route on Castle Face. There was a grade 1 and a grade 2 next door to each other, separated by a grade 3. We tried the grade 2 route to begin with, and it was pretty easy. We were roped up, but moved together the whole way up, and it felt as if we didn't need to be roped up we did it for practice though, as we had never worked as a three before. We topped out on the grade 2, grabbed a quick bite of lunch, then headed across to the top of the grade 1, with the intention of abseiling half-way down and then coming back up the grade 3 route. We duly did this, though I found the downclimbing frustrating going, due to slipping on the snow (even in crampons a soft top layer over a much harder crust apparently doesn't work for me). The other two headed down it like little mountain goats. The grade 3 was a little harder, but not considerably so, and we topped out on that with time to head to the summit of Ben Nevis, then down the tourispwithnall22/03/2015

It is August bank Holiday Saturday!! We cross the path and head out N to Carn Dearg N, my other target before finally heading to the summit which is thronged with people. There's been a Jane Tomlinson cancer appeal sponsored climb among others clogging the mountain. Seems like a thousand or so may well summit today!! Road trip with friends. Had the craziest time on Ben Nevis. 5 of us ascended, ended up splitting into a 2, 1 and 2, with me being the 1 in the middle. It was covered in snow, we had no food, water, appropriate clothing. I was in shorts. Apparently people had been asking my friends if they were ok as they'd been spotted eating snow. BIG WARNING - I got stuck on my own for about 30 mins in a complete white out. I saw something black ahead of me, and thought I'd head for it. It kept growing and growing until it filled my field of vision. I then realized that I was looking at the other side of a ravine, and had nearly walked off the edge of a cliff. Luckily, I didn't and was only a short walk from the summit. Hair raising adventure!tumpawumpa10/04/2004

With brother Pete in 1985, very similar to the walk in 1977 with Steve Barc, except we went further up Allt a' Mhuillin before following a burn towards Carn Beag Dearg and visiting the summit of Carn Dearg. The famous arête was wonderful, very exposed but without scrambling. The scale is way beyond anything elsewhere in GB. Cloudy on top in 1977. In 1985, we saw a diagram of the view from the summit in a shop but wouldn't buy it. As if to justify our superstitious behaviour, the views were 94 + miles, North Uist stunningly clear. A guy who practised for the Ben Nevis race by running up and down carrying a tea urn strapped to his back provided welcome refreshment. The summit plateau was covered in deep snow, but it was shorts + t-shirt + suncream.pwheeler21/05/1985

Killing time in FW (not for the last time) in Nevis Sport & Ben Nevis Exhibition Centre and church before Tony's bus arrived late at 3.20pm. Back to hostel then up tourist path with 40 lb packs and around to camp below CIC and cliffs by noisy stream. After dinner stew, potato, rice pud (all tinned!) evening ascent of the Ben up thousands of boulders to col under the mist clinging cliffs. 20 more mins of sweaty work to small tin shelter and trig at 9.20pm. Heler skelter descent near abseil posts and back across 000s of boulders to tent.Chris Pearson17/07/1983
With Jonathan Bellarby. From the car park at the head of Glen Nevis. We went up beside Allt Coirie Eoghainn, then crossed it and up the east ridge of Carn Dearg. Proceeded to the other Carn Dearg and went up to the summit of Ben Nevis. There were impressive views of cliffs. Continued to Carn Mor Dearg, Carn Mor Meadhonach, and Carn Beag Dearg. It was a fine and warm day with a gentle breeze. The entire ascent of Ben Nevis was done wearing shorts, boots and socks only!pwbellarby12/07/1983

Friday 17th September Glorious sunny day for a honeymoon ascent of the big Ben with Bridget before we head of tomorrow to our holiday chalet on the Old Golf Course at Kilchoan on the western end of Ardnamurchan for the second week of honeymoon. my second ascent after 1967 with dad as a teenager. Memories also of a failed attempt in Autumn 76 with American friend Fred Zimmerman who Anthony and I had met in Zermatt earlier in 1976. Calm and still in Glen Nevis but cloud at about 200feet. Up the tourist path bjut as soon as we got into the cloud it was like hitting the jet stream, incredibly strong winds. No way, Jose.....and we turn back.vegibagger17/09/1982
