Walked up on the Pennine way from the A635. Nice little bimble out, great views from the top.dianepick19/08/2019
Parking near mast, over Holme Moss, past trig to probable real top. Difficult to see a difference.iangalbraith26/07/2019
12.2 mile circular from Woodhead reservoir dam, walked the long way around Torside reservoir because the shorter path is closed and up onto Black Hill via the Pennine Way (4th time bagged), quite busy on way up because there was a fell race going on, from Black Hill summit we descended over White Low (1st time bagged) and via Hey Edge trig back down to the dam. High cloud but with breeze could see Dales as well as Wales from summit of Black Hill.DanTrig21/07/2019
Solo. From where the Pennine Way crossed the A635. Route paved for most of the way. TP first then needed SatNav to find which grassy mound was true summit.mike.hoult20/07/2019

9m circular walk clockwise from Crowden. Visited true summit (grassy mound), then headed to the Trig for a pic. Fortunately all the boggy sections were dry.Jephcote8323/04/2019

From layby on A635. Hour and half round trip in cold but dry weather. Easy walking on Pennine way.Longwojo30/10/2018
Day trip from home in Penrith. Lots of hard roadside parking where Pennine Way crossed the A635, by the burger van (which sadly had gone by the time we finished our walk!) Along Pennine Way all way to top, mostly on large stone slabs. No bogs to cross but a couple of becks that may need detour in wet weather. On to Black Chew Head then return same way to car.Hillsidenick13/09/2018
Parked at Holme. Circled anti clockwise past Digley Reservoir to the Pennine Way. Reached trig pint and met someone who was on their second day of the Pennine Way. Made way to Holme Moss Transmitting Station but couldn't see anything due to low cloud and rain. Continued along edge past Ramsden Clough and descended to Yateholm Reservoir. Final ascent through the woods back into Holme. Total walk 13 1/2 miles and took 6 1/4 hours. Rained pretty much all day but finished off with a pot of tea at the pub which was very welcome.TractorBoy08/09/2018
With Jo, from Holme Moss car park, on a sunny, breezy day with good visibility.amblerbob25/08/2018
From Marsden to Hadfield via Crowden with my dog Tess. A problem free walk with a mixture of rain and sun. This is my first return to Black Hill since completing PW in 1989.adrian34523/08/2018
First ascent - walk with Lottie.tsar.nathan12/08/2018
Parked on car park on A635 NW of Black Hill, very hard to find the footpath after climbing the style, then found large wooden post to follow, then lost path, found path, lost and found again. Nice deserted walk with only 2 people at trig point, easy to find high point then back, again lost path near car park.Walkingthedog21/06/2018

From Crowden via Black Chew Head. Very hot day - fortunately I was back down by 11 to miss the worst of the heat.RedAndy5407/05/2018
Second ascent of Black Hill, this time from the north. Parked beside A635 at SE 051 062, walked south on original route of Pennine Way to Black Hill. Then followed current route north, crossed A635, passed Wessenden reservoirs, then west across Black Moss to pick up the original PW route back to the car. Wet underfoot after the snowmelt, dry cloudy-bright day. First outing for new boots. With Dave.Skip11/03/2018
From Wessenden Head layby. Lovely day but some tricky ice on the slabs. A Park Ranger was out there breaking some of it up.squeegs16/02/2018

A rather purgatorial walk (especially on the descent over White Low) with CH and KF from Crowden: Pennine Way - Black Chew Head - Black Hill - White Low - Crowden.Mark Jackson24/10/2017

Afternoon walk in sunshine along Pennine Way from north.Winterfloodian28/09/2017
From near the mast at top of pass. Was dreading the thought of a waist deep forray through the peat but actually got there and back with no issues at all. I can imagine in poor visibility it could be a tad tricky but theres path all the way to the trig at least. Not the most inspiring place though there was a few other souls out and about.stig_nest03/09/2017

Crowden, Hoarstone Edge, Featherbed Moss, Black Chew Head, meteor crash site, Black Hill, White Low, Crowden. In snow flurries, frozen ground and thick cloud with Mart & Daisy. Done before.John Eley22/01/2017
We started at the lay-by on the A635, and set off following the path. The weather was pretty shocking tbh, but this was our 3rd and final attempt, lol as the previous 2 we had to turn round because of our kids. Successfully completed finally.cushy06/01/2017
