From parking shown on map, to W. Disturbed an adder basking in the sun on way up; broad grassy tracks all the way to summit area with lots of interesting remains inc. stone circles- all visited along with HP. With Pete. Back same way | pwheeler | 16/06/2022 |
Easy parking on large grass verge area at SX 7623 8725 - E. up wide grass track between gorse & bracken & then S. along track between dense gorse. Managed to trample down enough gorse to reach the summit GR which lies less than 10m W. of track. A pair of long trousers, gloves & secateurs would have been handy. (S) | gerrybowes | 15/06/2021 |
From the car park to the west. An easy stroll upwards and then a short walk along the ridge to potential top candidates. With GM. | bolton | 23/07/2020 |
From CP by Headless Cross to Giant’s Grace, the lovely stone circle and the summit - although I fancy the knoll surrounded by stones 50 yards NW of the stone circle may be higher. I was joined on the walk by my mother, on her 96th birthday. | Nick Down1 | 15/07/2019 |
From SW but seems morning local strollers all come up from the east somewhere. Both tops. | Eddie | 11/07/2019 |
Short walk from CP. Visited all of the summit candidates. | Herbert Anchovy | 20/03/2019 |
Round of five summits from Blytheswood bunkhouse. | Moorponder | 26/06/2018 |
Parked to the SE and went to both possible tops. Which ever you are at the other one looks slightly higher. | clivevilla | 14/11/2017 |
Up the RoW from East, good parking. Freshly cut gorse channels, offcuts made for useful kindling that night at our rental. Stone circle on top interesting, query GR for Highpoint. | nordicstar | 06/10/2017 |
An attractive open moorland with handy mown ways through the gorse. The high point seemed to be on one of these not at GR. | jenx | 06/10/2017 |

Parked in the CP to the SW and walked up and over down to the Headless Cross, around and back admiring the Giant's grave on the way back. | PK1 | 30/03/2017 |
Short up and down from roadside parking area. | rhalstead | 05/03/2017 |
5 tump walk from Morternhampstead on a hot day with Lesley and Flook the dog. Linked footpaths and narrow Devon lanes on a circular walk. My 2nd visit to this Sub-marilyn. S to N along 'crest' Up from SE on wide tack after a scary encounter with a snarling dog which escaped from its owners car. The owner shouted its only nervous. Not as much as me I was tempted to reply. | Chris Pearson | 15/08/2016 |
From Headless Cross through recently burt gorse. Very fine views from lovely 'whale-back' ridge | RichardM | 27/03/2016 |

Up marked path from North and walked the ridge. There are several stone circles on the hill. | Chris Peart | 11/06/2014 |
New car park been bulldozed into the moor, a little E of one shown on OS 1:25k map. NE to Giants Grave then S across broad flat top to undefined summit. Arguably summit could be anywhere but OS 356m spot height seems to be it. Watched some spectacular weather come across from the high moorland to the W. High winds and rain hit us before we reached the car - nice! | jonglew | 13/01/2014 |
hot day | Adrian | 14/07/2013 |
Made a bit of a meal of this one. There did not seem to be a path up through the vegetation from the west so drove up and around to the south and tackled it from there. The feint path through broom and brambles disapeared and in shorts made it painful. Then I found the main path up and it was much easier! Walked the ridge to make sure I got the high point. Then found a geocache. Then back. | Father Ted | 08/09/2012 |
From jnct SE of hill. Walked the top both ways. | chrisbien | 25/05/2012 |
From the North West in heavy rain shower cold wind walked the whole length of ridge must say the alternative summit did seem higher. Very difficult to tell though due to the Gorse. | isabelle | 22/04/2012 |
Easy parking to SE. Best to walk the full length of ridge as summit could be at either of the two alternatives or thereabouts. | destaylor | 08/12/2011 |
Think the ground to the north is higher as per the alternative summit grid ref.It looks higher and measures higher on my gps. | DARRENG | 22/05/2011 |

Fifth Hump of the day, parked low down on grassy car park then walked up thro' gorse and braken to summit ridge, which I walked along before returning east to the road and down to car. Site of interest at/near summit. | Dugswell2 | 01/06/2008 |
In passing to climb on Hound Tor with Bob | Chris Pearson | 23/08/2002 |
Parked in Moretonhampstead by the school. Took the road and path past Yarningdale to the spot height. Walked on past to the Giant?s Grave. Lost path on descent and hacked through burnt gorse giving camouflage affect to trousers. | garyhoney | 28/05/2000 |
