6003/03/2012TQ 13918 12050  F: Large tree stump near centre of ring.
O: Seemed visually definitely higher than W edge of ring. In contrast to John Barnard's observation in 2007, there was very little obstruction to visibility within the ring.
S: None

Solo. Parked for free at the Wiston Estate Car Park on the South Downs Way just off the southbound A24. Did a clockwise 10 mile circular walk taking in the Ring first, then going to Cissbury Ring via the Monarch's Way LDP. Cold and overcast. mostly dry underfoot - some mud on the last stretch back from Cissbury Ring. Delightful ponies on Cissbury Ring, but tried to eat my kit and me! But harmless. Encountered some larger but well-mannered horses on the final stretch.gbeniston17/01/2024

Walked from Steyning to Findon on South Downs Way. Summit somewhere in the trees.Buteobuteo22/03/2022
Parked up just off Washington Bostal and walked up, a decent sized car park and chalk underfoot to the summit - also a lot smoother than the walk from the signposted Chanctonbury Ring car park! Few others around and clear views right across the Downs to the sea and the wind turbines clealy visible.jamiequackers22/12/2021

Started at small car park on A24 grid reference 122 120. Easy track up walking with the experienced Peter Bowles on his second trip. We missed the trig point near the dew pond being renovated. We walk round the ring then found the trig on the way back hidden in some gorse.alanderry196318/09/2021
From the car park at 146124 along bridle way to west then bridleway directly to summit. Did a circuit of the ring, along to trig, then down bridleway towards North Farm, then Pest House, up bridelway along NW side of forest to meet South Downs way path on ridge. Straight over and down bridletrack directly back to car. Pleasant 6 mile circuit, easy walking.JulieB10/09/2021
From free car park near Great Barn Farm. West along bridleway then steeply up heading south east directly to summit on another bridleway. KeithByTheC10/09/2021

Parked at tiny car park. Very strange smell around the bottom that lingered for a while. Up paths. Quite crowded. Went to main top in trees and along to trig pointketzster31/03/2021
Parked in small cp at TQ122120, accessed off the southbound lane of the A24. Steady uphill walk along wide path, but beware of reckless mountain bikers descending far too quickly. At first fork, take left fork then continue to gate. An interesting dewpond is on the left, from where the trig point can be seen one hundred meters further on after passing through gate. The trig at GR 134120 is 238m, 2m lower than the high point 500m further on on the ring. Return by reverse route.Dartmoorman18/10/2020
Had a great night bivvying out. Great starry sky, not much wind and really mild. On the move westward again at 4.30, and one my very best ever days hiking, right past Petersfield.Alex C21/09/2020

3.3 mile circular from Chanctonbury Ring picnic are and car park, up good track through woods onto ridge then followed South Downs Way, walked around the ring itself then visited trig pillar, descended on path between trig and summit and followed path back to car park. Quite a few people about on this windy/sunny day with great views; you could easily see the folly on Leith Hill. Last hill of the day, earlier bagged Wilmington Hill, Mount Caburn, Cliffe Hill and Wolstonbury Hill.DanTrig05/07/2020
With: hb; Walk from Kithurst Hill car park including several ascents of scarp slope to Chanctonbury Ring, then returned by South Downs Way.Ian Baines20/05/2020
Quite a cool day. Parked in Washington and went up the steep path from Locks Farm. Came down the less steep, Wiston Bostal route, back via Owlscroft Barn. All on marked public footpaths.sconnolly0117/05/2020
Bagged this one with my wife as part of 10 mile circular route from Washington. We think there may be a higher point inside the ring of trees at TQ 13924 12067psburgess15/05/2020

Parked in car park at bottom of hill, took the steep route through woods! Would recommend the less steep round route, great views at top and nice spot in woods for picnic out of rain.Hippy7718/02/2020
