| A special trip over here to bag this deleted Marilyn. Solo. Parked in the large pub car park before it opened. A quick walk up the road to the field. High point is in middle of field of young cereal crop. Fence corner possibly of equal height. Had a lovely beer and a good chat in the Cat & Custard Inn afterwards. | First hill of the day on my whirlwind tour of Southeastern Marilyns. The walk from the parking space at the Cat and Custard, Paddlesworth, must be all of 300 m and perhaps 5 m of ascent, but the hill doesn't seem exciting enough to merit extension to a longer walk. | Part of a very pleasant circuit N of Folkestone. Disappointing with no distinct summit point, but HP assessed as on reddish farm track by road side, S of aerial and W of reservoir. | To make this more interesting we started at Castle Hill, Folkestone CT19 4QB (51.096349, 1.155481). This route was 4.9 miles return. Park in Castle Hill just off the M20. Walk up Castle Hill until you reach Crete Road West where you turn left. Walk for a few hundred yards before turning right onto the footpath just past the kennels. Follow the footpath until you reach a crossroads with Gibraltar Lane. Turn left and walk until you reach the T junction with Elvington Lane. Follow the footpath opposite the end of Gibraltar Lane and cross the fields heading towards the farm house. The path crosses a track and continues until you reach the Lane. A few yards down on the opposite site you will see a pond with a footpath to the right, take this. Enter the fields via the pedestrian gate and walk across the middle of the field, passing through gates in the middle before you reach the other gate. There are horses in here. | Visited before seeing my sister at Folkestone. I turned off the motorway at junction 11a thinking this was the nearest exit to the hill, only to find there is no escape from the Channel Tunnel tolls. After a bit of explaining to the chap in the booth we were given a rejection ticket and told how to escape a trip to France. Parked outside the pub at Paddlesworth which has a large war time shell outside, hopefully its a dud.
