2/5 - left line of main fence to a different fence and followed over more bogging ground to summit | wychwood | 31/03/2024 |
From west top and return to Bwlch a Groes. Soaking feet all the way, of course, but nice sun and scenery. Sat in the car and did some office work, then headed home. 12km, 348m, 2:30. | Wycombe Wanderer | 12/10/2023 |
A round of 4 fells from parking near Bwlch y Groes. Very soft underfoot made for some hard going in parts. Mist cleared during the walk. | Alan Caine | 07/10/2023 |

Parked near the cattle grid below Bwich y Groes, then followed the fence line to Bryn Glas, the cairn at Carreg y Big, then east to the trig on Mynydd Coch East Top, and finally to the HuMP of Mynydd Coch West Top. By sticking to the fence line there was a nice little track for most of the way, making the going pleasant during a sunny morning. A nice half day excursion of 11.5km with 400m ascent lasting 3h 30m. | silveracorn_alan | 06/08/2022 |

Parked at Bwlch y Groes and walked down the road to the cattle grid to follow the fence over to Bryn Glas, Moel Llygoed and Mynydd Coch. Three and three quarter hours for just over seven and half mile. | WAYNE ROWLETT | 19/06/2021 |
Lonely trig by fence in boggy tussocks. Summit adjacent. | Denise | 13/05/2021 |
From the fence line along the fence line (make sure you take the one S of Carreg Y Big), the easiest way in these parts. | RichardM | 13/05/2021 |
From Moel Llgoed. Returned along the fence which was reasonably dry and decent underfoot in the dry conditions. Back to the car at 917228. Solo. 3 hours 40 minutes for the 4 tops. | bolton | 14/04/2021 |

From the road-end in Cwm Twrch to the south-east. Took the forest track north-west to the forest edge. Then north on a bit of a sheep-track to Pt.517m. Then NW along the fence-line to the trig on the summit. Summit is on the western side of the new barbed wire fence. Returned the same way. | Man of Kernow1 | 24/11/2018 |

Bryn Glas, Carreg y Big, Moel Llygoed and Mynydd Coch East Top from cattle grid at SH91690 22879 following fences. The fence to Mynydd Coch East Top is as the OS map and is not the one just before (north) Carreg y Big. Fairly slow going and pathless in parts. 3h45, 6.89m. | clivevilla | 06/09/2017 |
Parked at the cattle grid at SH91690 22879 and then followed the fence, crossing it to reach Bryn Glas and then more following the fence to reach a cross fence on the left after the obvious cairn on the sharp pointed top. Turned left and followed fence to trig on Mynydd Coch ET. Return back to main fence and then Moel Llygoed. Return was back to Bryn Glas missing out Mynydd Coch. Didn't cross the fence to the top. Back to car. Followed fence all the way so it would be easy in bad weather. Ground wet and very wet in places. Traversed on the fence at one point to avoid the bog. | MikeM | 17/06/2017 |
Up grass path by Pen-y-gelli to elbow then followed fence line to elbow then broad ridge to Moel Llygoed. Followed ridge then took fence line out and back to Mynydd Coch East Top (real baggers hill) before going on to Bryn Glas, Returned by fence again then out to Foel y Bryn and an excellent track down to the road. | SS | 22/04/2017 |

Parked by cattle grid at 917229 - Followed faint (sometimes non-existent) path/ATV track along fence line to Moel Llygoed, bagging Bryn Glas & Carreg y Big along the way - On way back followed fence line out to Mynydd Coch East Top; occasional ATV track, but generally pathless. From Myn StJohn. It looks a long way because there's so few landmarks along the way. No paths - nothing more than the feintest of quad bike tracks which is very intermittent at best. Worked my way over each spot height passing a lovely unmarked cairn before finally arriving at the trig. It's quite a feeling to know you are at a spot most folk wont get within a couple of km of and its a strangely atmospheric place. Return leg was tougher than the out. Pathless to Afon Hirddu Fach and Hafod fudr. | stig_nest | 08/09/2016 |

Parked cattle grid to north. Bryn Mawr, Mynydd Goch (direct route bit of a slog but still think probably beats long ridge route) Moel Llygoed, Carreg y Big, Bryn Glas. | ijpowell | 14/07/2015 |

3416 7548 3411 Parked at cattle grid 9169 2287. Followed fence pretty much all the way to 7548 - like in pre GPS days! Small path by the side of the fence most of the time - some bog and bits of heather but not too bad. From 7548 aimed for a 3411 and found a fence - would be tricky to find in poor visibility. Then same again - path by side of fence. Returning from 3411 was tempted for a shorter line back as the ground didn't look too bad. Mistake. Recommend retracing your steps. | destaylor | 16/05/2014 |
Parked at 974214 before completing a circular walk of Bryn Mawr, Bryn Glas, Carreg y Big, Moel Llygoed, Mynydd Coch East Top and Mynydd St John. The ground was a little damp in places but access was straightforward. Descending due north from the last summit I came across a gate into the forest that wasn't marked on the map. | JohnStoneham | 10/11/2013 |

Start ~ 913233. Done on a traverse between Bwlch y groes and the A458 at Nant-y-dugoed. This was an out and back off the main ridge. | steve hudson | 14/04/2010 |
