From large parking area just before bungalow outside Cynwyd: Bryn-llus; Pen Creigiaur Barcut; Moel Fferna; Cerrig Coediog; Pen y lladron; Moel yr Henfaes. Sweltering day, for which we were ill prepared without sufficient water or suncream. Visited Liberty Hall but omitted the last 2 peaks we planned. Welcome meal at the Blue Lion at the end of the walk. | Lazylizzie | 13/05/2023 |

1/5 on a Dewey walk from Cynwyd. A clockwise horseshoe around the valley of Afon Trystion visiting Bryn-llus, Pen Creigau’r Barcut, Moel Fferna, Cerrig Coediog, Cefn Perfedd, Moel yr Henfaes [Pen Bwlch Llandrillo Top], Y Drum and Moel yr Henfaes. 22.6km with 1000m ascent in 6h20m. Parked next to the shop in Cynwyd (no restrictions on sundays) and followed the Nuttall route East with a spur up to Liberty Hall to take in Bryn llus, from here I pressed on to Moel Fferna, along the ridge taking in Cerrig Coediog and Cefn Perfedd before arriving at the Nuttall top of Moel yr Henfaes, from here I followed the hills over Y Drum and the Dewey Moel yr Henfaes. If your lucky when striking out for the last top you'll walk over a grassy track heading North East which will take you back to Cynwyd forest albeit having to cross a grazing field at 07959 39525 to access the forest tracks that you follow left back to the car. Fourteen and half mile in Six and quarter hours. | WAYNE ROWLETT | 09/05/2021 |

Afternoon hike. Really quiet area. Only seen one other person. | Ant peters | 07/09/2020 |
The 8 summits around Cynwyd Forest anti-clockwise with Rufus. Parked at far end of reservoir and took forest track to open hillside, used a mixture of fences and rough tracks for navigation but plenty of the round is in deep heather. A good logical round for the northern Berwyn and took just over 4 hours at a fast pace - 16km 700m ascent. | jacobrichmond | 01/09/2020 |

10 hill circuit based around Cadiar Bronwen. Start and finish on a forestry track not far from Cynwyd. Fantastic, sunny Saturday with hardly anyone on the hills. | BobHancock | 22/04/2017 |
Parked up the gravel track at 081403. Gare to field open and then up and over stile onto various tracks that lead to the summit. 75 minutes with Marli. | bolton | 18/04/2017 |
Done with Olwynn, Keith and Bryan from south and then on to Pen Creigiau'r Barcut | Aimless Rambler | 28/10/2016 |
From 360m contour in forest. Id first seen Liberty hall on a map many moons ago. As a young un I had imagined 5his grand gothic mansion stood high on the moors. But alas it was nothing more than a shoot lodge and today its barely discernible from a sheep fold. The walk up is easy though and a fine view from the nearby highpoint. | stig_nest | 15/05/2016 |
Large parking area just before bungalow at SJ07149 40545 - East along upper track to stile & gate at edge of forest at 084404 - NNE up path/ATV track & then path alongside old fence posts to Bryn-llus - Continued to Pen Creigiau’r Barcut - Cerrig Coediog - Y Drum - Moel yr Henfaes. Horseshoe of 4 Deweys from minor road to E of Cynwyd. | RobertP | 02/08/2015 |
From Cynwyd up tracks to near Liberty Hall then across heather and straight drop back to forest. About a foot of really annoying soft snow on top made going slow. | SS | 01/02/2015 |
Up from Cynwyd, parked at track junction 084 401-track up to Liberty Hall & Bryn-llus, then track to Pen Creigiau'r Barcut, heather bashing to join North Berwyn Way to Bwlch Cynwyd & onto Moel Fferna, back tracked then onto Cerrig Coediog & Pen y Lladron Good path to Cynwyd forrest & car. warm & dry. Stick to tracks-avoid Heather. | apricorum | 05/09/2014 |
Parked at forest track junction at SJ 08435 40101. (Be aware that since I parked here in July 2011 to do the Northern Berwyns, part of the forest track before the junction has become badly pot-holed. Care would be required in non 4x4 vehicles or maybe better still, park at the end of the minor road.) Visited Bryn-llus first then Pen Creigiau'r Barcut. Returned south to forest track then through forest back to car. | David Gradwell | 29/08/2014 |
From single track road leading east from Cynwyd. Parking possible at junction with forest track. Pleasant horseshoe with minimal climbing. Bryn Llus, Pen Creigiau'r Barcut, Cerrig Coediog, Pen y Lladron, Moel yr Henfaes (Nuttall) Y Drm, moel yr Henfaes (Dewey). Good paths and tracks most of the way. | ijpowell | 31/07/2014 |
Parked near bungalow on narrow lane up from Cynwyd at SJ 07149 40545 - plenty of room. Took forest road branching off lane up and along to edge of forest. then, once over stile, headed steeply north, using ATV and sheep tracks where possible, though some heather-bashing involved. Reached track along ridge and so to summit - high point on this track. Continued on to Pen Creigiau'r Barut. | Man of Kernow1 | 14/06/2014 |
From Pen Creigiau'r Barcut I took the track to Liberty Hall and from there I took a shot of a distant tree framed by the ruins and then backtracked to arrive at Bryn-llus using the track that runs over the hill, I explored all the different possible heathery mounds before exiting down to Cynwyd forest on a bearing aiming for one of the corners so that i could get onto one of the tracks taking me close to my next objective; Moel Henfaes East top. | Dazingdale | 04/05/2014 |
From Cynwyd, a round of Bryn-llus, Pen Creigiau'r Barcut, Moel Ffarna, Cerrig Coediog, Pen y Lladron, Moel yr Henfaes [Pen Bwlch Llandrillo Top], Y Drum and Moel yr Henfaes. A nice horseshoe for this area. | rhalstead | 07/04/2014 |

Walked with the wife, Sarah. Came up from the quarry, through the forest track. Made the mistake of going over the heather rather than sticking to the low path. Good views of Moel Siabod. Stuck to the paths on the way back | wee mac | 03/06/2008 |
