Parked in lay-by NW of Kittythirst Cottage. Up forest track through Deadwater and Rushy Knowe. Much of the forest is currently being felled. Onto snowy heather to the summit of Peel Fell then more snowy heather and peat hag to Mid Fell, finding a narrow path for the final half-kilometre. Path then service road to Deadwater Fell before descent back to car via service track and forest roads.summitter06/12/2023
Parked at Kielder castle car park for £5 all day and took the Orange route up to Deadwater fell, then continued on a boggy path over Mid fell to Peel fell, Continuing on to Hartshorn pike to visit Carlin tooth. I returned via Wheelrig head on forest roads to Myredykes and finally a road stomp back to the car. Nineteen and half mile in Seven hours.WAYNE ROWLETT30/09/2023

13:00 after snooze in the car waiting for rain to stop. 16 degrees at Hall Knowe, brisk south-westerlies, light showers. Via forest tracks. On to Mid Fell.Wycombe Wanderer19/08/2023
Peel Fell, Mid Fell & Deadwater Fell from the layby north of Kittyhurst Cottage. Just shy of 9 milesGary Heath18/06/2023

Peel Fell, Deadwater Fell from Deadwater. Very wet underfoot!Geoff Briggs25/03/2023
From Peel Fell, solo, great views. Descended directly west via the closed black mountain bike route. First walk of day, next headed over to Greatmoor Hill / Maidens Paps.Nick Canute18/09/2022
After Peel Fell and Mid Fell, starting Kittythirst. Showers before and after being on this hill, which has a shelter near the top. A good round of forest roads and thin squelchy trods, wide open spaces over the tops.pwheeler07/09/2022
Good parking at NY608964. Good forest roads to NY627958, then an interminable drag up to Deadwater Fell summit.Isbjorn09/08/2022
Kielder Castle carpark, followed orange route to summit, on over Mid Hill to Peel Fell and down to Deadwater Farm. Back along disused railway. All tracks and paths clear of fallen trees.Flatfield12/07/2022
From start of forest road north of Kittythirst cottage. Followed track up to Rushy Knowe and then faint path by posts to cairn at top. Back via Mid Fell and Deadwater Fell.Minto22/05/2022
Walked from track end at GR 623945 1km past Keilder village, forest track all the way, arriving at N end of summit area. I intended to carry on to Peel Fell, but found no onward path among the deep heather and the mist meant a strong likelihood of being benighted, so aborted that and returned down the older track from DW Fell's summit, much of which was snowbound, rejoining the outward track at the forest edge.IanHHill30/11/2021
Parking in the lay-by 200m N of Kittythirst Cottage. On forest roads to the border at Rushy Knowe then followed the border footpath (just on the Scottish side) > Peel Fell. Continued via Mid Fell > Deadwater Fell. Feint paths all the way, quite boggy in places but nothing too strenuous. Continued down the forest roads back to the parking.JohnR24/10/2021
A nice quiet walk up today and had our sandwiches in the shelter on the top, although it was nice and sunny today. Could see across to the Solway and with a little bit of imagination, possibly the North Sea.Walker Dan06/10/2021
After Peel Fell and Mid Fell. Had been up here about 18 years ago on MTB event. Good views on a clear and hot day, HP and trig visited, back down steeper track and then forest track back to car at lay-by north of Kittythirst cottage.PeterD23/07/2021
By & large used jonglew's route. Pleasant look out. Grassy paths between hills are certainly helpful (really ease the going).ger19/06/2021
Parked just north of Kittyhirst cottage. Forestry track all the way up.Andrew Simmons04/06/2021
Parked directly south in wide entrance to track. Easy tracks to summit and trig, mainly by headtorch late in the day.PGCE11/12/2020
From Mid Fell, then descended along access track all the way to layby n of Kittythirst Cottage, which starts north, then swings clockwise round the fell. KeithByTheC14/07/2020
Parked in layby near Kittyhirst Cottage at NY 608 964. Up forest roads to the border at Rushy Knowe, then up small path along border to Peel Fell, over heather and occasional tracks to Mid Fell and then a wet track to Deadwater Fell. Good views from Peel and Deadwater Fell. Down forest roads to public road at NY 622 945. Returned to car along Bundle and go to Kielder Stone walk, cutting through the trees by a somewhat overgrown ride to emerge at the layby. 16km with 500m ascent in 4h40m. (S)silveracorn_alan08/07/2020

From Kielder, and also took in Peel Fell via the Forestry paths. With Laura, Housechild, Vicky, Mark, Hannah, James and Jon.Grinner28/12/2019
Usual parking - dirt layby N of Kittythirst Cott (NY 6085 9641). Good forest road to Rushy Knowe, could have easily driven it, then waymarked FP to top of Peel Fell. Across rough to Mid Fell, then narrow track through the rough to here. Returned on comms site access road to NY 6212 9566, whence continued on to meet my outward track at NY 6087 9699. All in all, a very civilized 9 miles.jonglew09/09/2019
From layby north of Kittyhirst Cottage via Peel Fell and Mid Fell as others. Track to west is a bit rough underfoot so if you want a better but slightly longer track use the ond to the east. Faint path across moor.ijpowell01/08/2019
Round of 3 from layby at start of foresty road just north of Kittythirst cottage. Forest roads to Rushy Knowe then path beside wall up to Peel Fell. Then followed path beside old metal fence posts south eastish before they dog legged to the summit of Mid Fell. Path then to Deadwater Fell and return along forest roads.mart079701/07/2019

Parked in lay-by NW of Kittythirst Cottage at 608964 - Up 3 miles of forest tracks to trig point & then continued along service road to high point. (PM)gerrybowes12/01/2018
Good parking just north of Kittythirst cottage. The looping service road means an easy walk to the summit but the latter part via Three Pikes. 2 hour 10 minute return with GB in good conditions.bolton12/01/2018

From mid fell. Not a lot of fun but at least it didnt rain! So much clutter on the top but it did provide shelter from the wind..descent via the black route and then along tracks to Deadwater farm.stig_nest13/09/2017
From Kittyhurst Cottage. Forestry tracks - Deadwater Fell - Mid Hill - Peel Fell. Descent to Master Grain to pickup a forestry track at 626.987Moorponder09/07/2017

As Peel Fell.BLACKHILL01/04/2017
Started at Kielder castle carpark. Easy trail/forest road to the summit. Last 20m of the summit it started to snow and visibility was less than 10m. Storm shelter was useless because the wind blew straight in the opening. Found a collapsed building with a bit of roof to shelter in. However, after lunch visibility had dropped to 5m and it was still snowing... so decided not to proceed to Peel Fell but headed back the way we came. 30m down and you wouldn't believe the difference in temperature and conditions.NorthernWayfarer05/02/2017
Peel Fell - Mid Fell - Deadwater Fell from NY 60750 96342ronaldo33309/10/2016
1/3 Deadwater Fell - Mid Fell - Peel Fell. Parked in Kielder at the castle car park (£4.50 all day parking) and followed the forestry tracks and mountain bike trails to the summit.Stormcrow01/10/2016
Parked near church (now has 'Sold' sign). Bridge, forest tracks and MTB trail. No globe on tower at moment, antennae exposed to the elements, soon to be plastered in snow and ice. Continued to Mid Fell.Aye Jimmy18/09/2016
From track end near Kittythirst all the way to Deadwater Fell and its paraphernalia. From there its was heather bashing to Mid Fell and on to Peel Fell. There is a half decent path down following the border until the track is picked up again. Pleasant walk in good weather.SS17/09/2016
Deadwater Fell, Mid Fell and Peel Fell. Parked in the layby by Kittyhurst Cottage and went up the forestry tracks to Deadwater Fell. They are easy to follow and match the OS map exactly. From there to Mid Fell and then the weather came in. Luckily there are old metal fence posts marking the way to Peel Fell but I didn't fancy descending off piste so retraced my steps. Nearly 4 hours round trip.clivevilla23/10/2015
Parked at NY 60832 96429. Space for half a dozen cars. Followed forest tracks and eventually a black bike run (Skellys Riggin) to the top of Deadwater Fell.Followed fence on right hand side of track down and crossed the continuation of the track and again followed path across Deadwater Moor to Mid Fell. Continued following path to top of Peel Fell. Then down following the border and eventually through forest back onto track. Followed track back to carpark. Track and path all the way. A bit cold and a bit sqelshy. A good walk.MikeM11/10/2015
From Kittythirst to road end at 614988, then marked Kielder Stane route on faint boggy paths via Peel Fell, Mid Fell, to Deadwater FellPeteN01/03/2015

Jen and my final English Marilyn, and my 1200 P100. With Rob W, Charles E, Alan D, Martin R and Lucy F. Usual layby at Kittyhirst, took the track keeping to the left and the burn line. Broke out the trees at end of track to find a good path with yellow markers now set up the wall line starting down in the cleared forest area. This path continues right round to Deadwater and is very straightforward. Not the struggle others have reported. Great cake and whisky party on top also with height measurement by Alan.nordicstar09/11/2014
The clutter seems worse than my last visit.Martin R09/11/2014

With Bev from the road. Well marked tracks.simon and co27/09/2014
With Jo, circular walk from Kielder Youth Hostel: forest tracks onto Deadwater Fell, then across easy moorland to Mid Fell and Peel Fell (two tops), descending by border fence and returning along railway track from Deadwater Station. Weather; cloudy with occasional sunny intervals, surprisingly cold on DWF but mild thereafter, good visibility. Good all round views from each top.amblerbob25/06/2014
