Route as per Gerry the Ranger below.richard6905/10/2022
A lovely sunny Sunday afternoon. Walked up from the car park on The Ridge/Woldingham viewpoint. Saw some partridges on the summit.sconnolly0126/06/2022
From Woldingham Station as part of a 9 mile circular evening walk with bluebells everywhere. The summit up by the water tower isn't that impressive, but it can be part of a really lovely walk with a bit of planning. We included the North Downs way and the Vanguard Way. Visited the trig as well as the true summit.Lazylizzie10/05/2022
Same as Gerry the Ranger belowpaulhilder19/03/2022
Managed to get into the electricity compound and had a good chat about Marilyns with the chap who let me in. My gps reading took me to the back of the compound near a mast. Artificial ground by the water tower is higher. The adjacent field is just as high and more natural but walkers are not obviously welcome to enter looking at the numerous Private signs about. Solo.Dangerous Dave06/01/2022
From free parking area west of Flint House. Track through woods parallel to minor road. North up bridleway to track to mast. Over gate on right and along edge of compound to southeast corner. Close as possible to get to summit. KeithByTheC11/09/2021
From car park at 385546, along road, then left to Vanguard way north, then right to compound. Got as close as I could to summit.JulieB05/09/2021
Just over a mile there and back from the viewpoint CP although there’s nothing to stop you driving up to the compound.Newton Maximus31/08/2021
From Woldingham Station, approaching summit from north. Summit apparently behind railings. Returned by taking Vanguard Way south.peter4lc03/07/2021

Drove right up to water tower (plenty of space for parking). Then hopped over gate and walked a couple of hundred metres alongside field edge and compound boundary to the highest point. Nice & easy :-)Gerry the Ranger04/08/2020

One of my last English Marilyns and very unimpressive. Walked around the water tower and comms compound- land generally disturbed. Nice benchmark in Flint House at road junction. Alone.Denise 06/11/2019

Walked from Woldingham to water tower, down to Oxted. Beautiful day – warm, still. M25 not too noisy. Rounsfell30/03/2019
From the “view point” car park, up to water tower and around it then back. Pleasant enough but M25 very noisyJephcote8316/03/2019
Drove right up to the metal fence around the compound to the amusement of a dog walker on a very early foggy Saturday morning.NormanW16/02/2019
Started from about 1 km from Chalk Hill Lane after the M25 underpass. Up by the side of the quarry through the downs and emerging at Plough Lane before heading up to the top.Browncjw 13/01/2019
Foggy. Met local who says you can see London Eye from here she knew it was a county high spot so I explained about Marylin hills. She looked astonishednickywood115/11/2018
Simple detour from RoW on the West side.Isbjorn08/11/2018
A second visit 23 years after my first. This time on 3 hr circular run with L from Godstone, via Woldingham School, NDW and Oxted, in gloomy fog before the afternoon rain arrives. Such gloom would have thwarted the efforts of General Roy and his men when they were up here around 1794 measuring for The Anglo French Survey. The Greenwich Meridean cuts across tthe west of the hill. Oxted chalk quarry below receives 150 lorry visits per day and want to increase it to the objections of leafy Oxted residents.Chris Pearson06/10/2018

Hmm. Another non-event of a Marilyn, tackled from the parking area above the quarry, the so-called Woldingham Viewpoint. Lovely view of the M25, and remarkable that the ultra posh stockbroker belt has got a massive problem with litter. The hill itself has been made particularly ugly, being adorned with a water tower and various masts, though there are nice views across the fields. Woldingham is a loathsome example of a Surrey village, unspeakably up itself.Gill08/07/2017
From Woldingham Station via St Agatha's church, The Ridge and public bridleway to the gate at the base of the telecommunications mast and water tower.Raymond Butler07/07/2017

Last English Marilyn - again. Thought I'd finished them five years ago in 2011, then this relocated one appeared... finally got round to revisiting the area.Aye Jimmy13/04/2016
12th and final Marilyn from a two day bagging trip. I parked to the S by Flint House, but it's tarmac all the way to the top if you are so inclined.Cas-gwent05/04/2016
Parked in layby and walked up to transmitting towers to activate hill for SOTA. Nice chat with the lady land owner feeding her horses and fair views to the City of LondonM0YDH20/03/2016
The second hill of the day on the way home from Scotney Castle. Certainly wouldn't be worth a trip there otherwise as its only a ten minute walk from the car park.Peterb14/02/2016

From cp to south. Tried to explain hill bagging to two ladies who had horses in the summit field.ngthack12/12/2015
Went to the top of this hill the nearest Marilyn to us by car. Then up the Vanguard Way.Dragonzilla22/11/2015
Whilst working in West Malling I took a trip out in the evening to pick up this Marilyn. Disappointing views from the top although I think I could glimpse the Shard in London.fnem08/09/2015

Part of Betsom Hill, Kent Historic County Top walk with Gina. Really wet day so rather than planned 11 mile circular walk ended up driving round and doing short walk to bag days tops. Plan was to walk from car park near junction of Chalkpit Lane, but ended up driving all the way to water tower and possibly parking on the summit. Easy bag climbed over gate to walk to SE corner of boundary fence of water tower/aerials just in case this is highest point.mntainman06/01/2015

A pleasant walk up to the water tower from the northwest, then a less interesting walk along the lanes to the former summit. Yes, the new summit does indeed look higher.Pete R07/11/2014

Drove most of the way. Parked in lane and walked last stretch. Pleasant water tower, new NATS aerial being put up to add to the other two. A decorative top with lots of spiky railings.nordicstar21/05/2013

bit of a building site at present - bring ear plugs if you walk the North Downs Way, the M25 is very loudTeasyChris15/04/2013
My second visit to this one - hopefully my last!Chris Peart10/04/2013
climbed with Alli, started at Botley Hill and continued along the North Downs to Westerham Heights and Betsoms Hill, then onto Clackett services and then back to Botley Hill. Hard to reach the top as by water tower.Very cold and even snow blizzards.(8 miles)rickybalboa30/03/2013
Walk in the snow, there is lot of building activity at the top at the moment.rhalstead12/03/2013
What a way to spend a birthday!mindlessflogger23/02/2013
Drove along minor roads and a track to park alongside the three transmitters and a water tower (about 1 mile SE of Woldingham – Climbed over gate and wandered around sheep field attempting to locate the top (highest point probably inside the compound) – Back to car. (PM)gerrybowes17/01/2013

Steep ascent from North Downs Way. Crossed broken down fence and wandered round higher points of field full of sheep and lambs. Mound in compound higher but looked artificial.prwild13/05/2012
What an anomaly, in the same list as Ben Nevis.Eddie03/04/2012
Mist, calm, drizzle, went inside enclosure, maintenance crew decided I was mad and allowed it.iangalbraith08/11/2011

Drove along escarpment with v large houses, up minor road and parked at 385551 at bottom of driveway to tower. Highest point (previously measured) was at back corner of tower compound.dbb03/08/2010
Drive up. I had visited the previous summit candidates but not the water tower area. Had no maps and phoned a friend for the grid reference. Great fun trying to find the way up from the M25, but satisfying to pull up beside the masts and tower. Those ofasgadh13/07/2010

Annoying revisit following summit move, but at least it's easy to drive up to the masts. Two dog walhers gave us suspicious looks, although one could have equally asked what they were doing there!wheresthepath21/02/2010
After visit to iconic Clacket Lane S.S, from C.P. to South, along Vanguard Way. Nice Water Tower., then drive to 267m roadside Trig. With K,J and M.The Captain14/02/2010
the least exciting top today and a repeat of other tops round heregigglejon16/12/2009
Top may not be too thrilling but some of the surrounding countryside was pleasant enough. Good walk along the bridleway from the north and also views of London.Herbert Anchovy25/09/2009
Revisited - hopefully I won't have to come here a third time. Highest point appears to be at the back of the water tower.Richard31/08/2009
A drive in Marilyn. Hopped over the fence into the field full of sheep and around to the back of the compound which seemed the highest point.Father Ted15/08/2009
The parent hill of our parent hill. Short walk from the road - the actual summit is not part of Botley Hill, but another whose name I can't remember.Messiaen15/08/2009
New London high point - this one by water tank.arranc23/07/2009

Nil visibility, mist or low cloud.Overthehilljill16/01/2009
Revisited for an authentic tick after assisting JB with a survey earlier this year.Smudge25/10/2008
I KNOW YOU CANNOT RELY ON GPS HEIGHT READINGS, BUT IT WAS A GOOD 11FT HIGHER BY THE BOTLEY HILL PUB THAN AT THE WATER TOWER/AERIAL MAST.DARRENG21/10/2008
Return trip nowt improved. Can take road all the way. 38600 55100 does not seem to be top - more like 38711 55186 at end of 8' high barbed fence. Could be anywhere really. As usual wherever you stand somewhere else seems higher.destaylor13/10/2008
Revisit to bag this new version of summit top while on a weekend trip to visit my sister at Putney Bridge. Unsure that it was worth the first visit but a tick is a tick.Dugswell212/10/2008
My second top for this uninspiring Marilyn.clivevilla16/09/2008
Second attempt - walked from Oxted to summit and back. Path off road leading to quarry / works avoids awkward road walk. Good track, can't quite see old top from summit.Buteobuteo08/08/2008
petey21/03/2008
I was chuffed when this Marilyn changed as on my visit to the trig I sensed there was higher ground off to the west & so visited the mast area. Sure enough my gps suggested the highest point was there (TQ 3871 5518) & within 18 months the 'experts agreed!signyred27/01/2008
Parked at South Hawke then North Downs Way to Botley Hill, Vanguard Way to North Warlingham, London Loop, Downlands Cicular Walk to join up with North Downs Wayphilhythe22/09/2007
Another night bag on way to Mike's. Parked on road by top and skipped over hedge to trig and top.robphys23/11/2006
From Oxted station following the Greensand Way to the edge of Titsey Plantation & then along its edge & up the steep track to the road junction. Visited the trig on this occasion but been back on several occasions to visit the revised summit location. Walk is better than the hill.NotReallyABagger09/09/2006

With: hb sb ab; We parked in the car park close to the trigpoint (Old summit ). I checked coordinates on that then we walked round to the aerials for the new summit.Ian Baines24/07/2005

Visited on two nice walks from Woldingham, one with Pete, but the actual summit is very poor and the worst part of the walk. These poor N.Downs Marilyn summits do not do justice to really fine walking country. Further W in Surrey, I recommend the downs between Gomshall and Reigate- keep on the scarp where the NDW looks dull and it's excellent. There are two Humps within 100m. of the path on this section of the NDW for baggers, too. The M25 is on the dip slope here, so the walking is tranquil for the SE.pwheeler19/10/2003
Got dropped off at the Vanguard Way where it crosses the B269. Followed this through Titsey Place to the North Downs Way then up to the trig. It was obvious that this was not the highest point and so I spent an hour visiting likely candidates.garyhoney15/01/2000
Date is first visit. Notes from later...main challenge is locating TP hiding behind hedge: L immed E of large tree in hedge. roadside @ TQ396553 +/- opp mast RHW20/06/1999
A disappointing top of the North Downs - the trig point is the other side of an fence alongside the road. A walk from Betsom Hill in Kent provided an interesting days walk.chinnock31/01/1999
We didn't want to drive to the trig point - so we parked in Woldingham and walked up the hill past the newly assigned summit by the mast to the top road - through some woods and finally found the trig point the other side of a barbed wire fence - I managed to squeeze into the field to hit the trig. The walk back was down the same track past the mast (the real summit - as it turns out).ChinnockC31/01/1999
day after flying back from Florida. Explored over at the site by the transmitters that looked higher and is now the recognised top.vegibagger12/03/1998

County summit bagging on N Downs with cousin Mark. To GL County top then this new location for Botley Hill and then...later to a nightclub (a rarity).. and much later sleep in his shared house with many sofas -all discards from the sofa shop next door!Chris Pearson03/06/1995
