A long hard day to pick up Gavel Pike, Cofa Pike and Gale Crag, involving going over St. Sunday Crag, Fairfield, Hart Crag and Hartsop-above-How. Well worth the effort. After the intial ascent the hardest part was the descent from Hart Crag. An outstanding walk.BURGESS07/07/2023
9/9 Arnison Crag, Birks, Gavel Pike, St Sunday Crag, Cofa Pike, Fairfield, Hart Crag, Hartsop Above How and Gale Crag. Solo walk from Brothers Water. High Hartsop (519m) first and Little Hart Crag (637m). Then another down and up to reach Red Screes (776m), then Middle Dodd (642m). Then I made the most difficult detour of the day, dropping to Stangs (474m) so I could bag the summit and then climbing all the way back to to Dove Crag (792m) and Hart Crag (822m). I then made a detour over to Great Rigg (766m) returning via my highest point of the day at Fairfield (822m) before walking back to Hart Crag and descending the ridge via the two summits on Hartsop above How (586m). A challenging walk as once on the fells I seemed to be constantly going up and down with very little level walking and the step counter measured 25 miles of 'real' distance walked. It was clear and sunny the entire day, some of the best views I've had up here for ages and relatively quiet considering the weather and time of year.meltdiceburg12/06/2021

You know that fun hill bagging moment where you aren’t exactly sure which one the top is so you scramble up and down every lump in sight? Yup that. Solo. Phenomenally sunny.Fionalevey20/03/2021

RAYNET radio operator for safety cover of The Hodgson Brothers' Mountain Relay. Walked in from Hartsop to Hart Crag via Hartsop Above How for a 4hr stop on Hart Crag covering the checkpoint. Used a tarp/shelter for the summit as shelter from heavy showers. Walked out over Fairfield, Cofa Pike and St Sunday Crag to Patterdale. Slowed on descent from St Sunday Crag to assist with search for overdue competitors. Visibility very poor throughout the whole descent.higlett06/10/2019
