Parked in small layby opposite where WHW crosses the railway. WHW across railway, turned right to cross Crom Allt, then straight up. | PGCE | 23/03/2024 |
Big CP at NN329330 (beside stone tower). 300m N, away from objective, to WHW rly-underpass (no bridge over rly here). S, 1 km, on WHW to bridge at NN331318. ATV tk up N side of Crom Allt until final two trees whereupon into stream bed, this would be a delightful Sun trap in Summer, but iced rocks today. Up to a confluence of steep grassy ridges in Coire Thoin. An tk up main central ridge, was a delight, very narrow in places, would be a superb arête in snow, steeply up to bealach to join good FP descending from SE ridge of Beinn Odhar and on to Meall Buidhe. Returned same way. Dull looking hill, lovely route. | Isbjorn | 13/01/2024 |
Parked in the layby at about NN330 316. Across and down onto the WHW. Along and left the WHW to go under the railway to stay SE of the river, then steeply up on short grass to the summit. Good viewpoint to surrounding hills, and over Tyndrum from the little peak SW of the summit. | LizH | 30/08/2023 |
On my way to the Garvellachs stopped opposite railway bridge to the West and steeply up and down. | NormanW | 15/06/2022 |
From small layby at NN 330317, faint old packhorse path up to site of old mine workings and on to Beinn Odhar. Round ridge to Meall Buidhe then steeply back down to the railway bridge. | TRG318 | 06/10/2021 |
A superb late Autumn day, with brilliant sunshine, the waning Hallowe'en blue moon and a cloud inversion. Parked in the second layby N of Tyndrum, crossed the railway bridge and followed faint grassy tracks zigzagging up Beinn Odhar's S ridge to the lead mine and on to the summit cairn. Easily down and across a slightly boggy col to Meall Buidhe, then a steep descent by the forestry. | Nick Down1 | 07/11/2020 |
Wet ground up by trees, much better (but no less steep) a bit further North | Tony S | 30/08/2020 |
10.2 miles 2728ft walk, Start at By-The-Way campsite Tyndrum follow West Highland Way to railway bridge just past water treatment plant, up Crom Alt and ridge onto Beinn Odhar, south east down ridge to Meall Buidhe, continue down ridge to Auchtertyre and West Highland Way back to Tyndrum. | stephenbuda | 23/08/2020 |
Tyndrum - Beinn Odhar - Meall Buidhe - Tyndrum. | Mark Jackson | 01/08/2020 |
From the railway bridge over the Crom Allt then up due east besides the forest then onwards over open ground to Meall Buidhe. Then along the wide ridge to Beinn Odhar, taking in ever more superb views in all directions as we climbed higher. A 30 minute nap on the sunny summit before down the SSW flank back to the car. Will take just over a couple of hours if you miss out the kip. | summitter | 12/06/2020 |
