Langie Mar Lodge meet, with Steven, Niall, Inma & Elliot.Grinner-Munros217/02/2024
After a morning of torrential rain; I set off at lunchtime from Inverey car park. As there was shooting on I had a quick chat and they said they were finished for the day so I headed up the good track and then up Carn Nan Seileach. After the track ended it was very boggy for a bit before the ascent to Carn Bhac. Visited all 3 cairns views were intermittent. Descent vis Grouse Butts to Altanour and back through lovely Glen Ey. I was too late starting to get to the other Munro. Walked whole way time 5 hours 15 minutes for 14.5 miles.isabelle04/10/2023

From Inverey, cycled along track to Auchelie, walked up track on ridge over Carn nan Seileach to track end, then directly up to summit of Carn Creagach, descended on intermittent track to col with Carn Bhac, and up to summit, returned to col, contoured around W side of Carn Creagach to rejoin outward track back to Auchelie, thence to Inverey (5hr)kdbennett31/12/2021
Solo Beinn Iutharn Mhòr and Càrn Bhac from Inverey. Used the mtb as far as Altanour Lodge (just under 6mi, 200m ascent, ~50mins), then anti-clockwise route on foot - reached cloud-covered summit of Carn Bhac 1h 20m later. 1h 50m later reached (also cloud-covered) summit of Beinn Iutharn Mhòr (after a not-terribly pleasant ascent up loose rock). Steep descent back from 850m back down to around 650m (with great views over Glen Ey, now I was under the cloud)and then a often-disappearing path through the heather back over to the lodge. 4h 25min total time on foot. 35min ride back to Inverey resulting in a total car-to-car time of 5h 55min.mproudfoot25/09/2021

A good round from Inverey. Altanour to Carn Bhac, track then path; easy strolling on grass, short heather, stones and bits of ATV track along the ridges to Carn a' Bhutha, Geal Charn, and Geal Charn NE top, then Carn Liath via ATV track, then good path from top to join shooting track down Allt Cristie Beag back to Inverey. Fine views on a sunny day.Gill225/04/2021

I met Nicky Creadland at Inverey west of Braemar, to get the Munro of Carn Bhac (946m) and the adjacent Munro Top (920m). We biked up Glen Ey to the ruins of Altanour Lodge, but Nicky’s bike chain broke just before the ruins. There was low cloud from around 800m, with no views until we were descending from the Munro Top. The return route back down Glen Ey, was actually quite fast as Nicky used her now chainless bike as a scooter at times, 8hrs all in.chillyman822/10/2020
Up Glen Eye from (Meikle) Inverey car park to Auchelie following track to Carn nan Seileach, Carn Creagach, and Carn Bhac. Inverey where we mounted the bikes and set off on the 5 mile track ride up Glen Ey to the ruin of Altanour Lodge. The sun was shining, the Ey Burn meandered down the valley, fringed by clusters of newly planted copses. We cycled past “The Colonel’s Bed”. Most of the climbing was early on. The final section was in a broad flat glen culminating in a fenced copse enclosing Altanour Lodge ruin beyond which the path become steep and unsuitable for further cycling. We stopped, unloaded the bikes, pitched the tent in a hollow beside the path and near a tributary of the burn, had some lunch and prepared to start our first ascent to link the ascent of Carn Bhac (920m) and then Beinn lutharn Mhor (1045m). The first ascent was over uneven grass and heather up a gradual slope reaching Carn Bhac’s quarzite capped summit plateau and the welcome shelter of the stone windbreak that incorporated the summit cairn. We had great views to the north of the Cairngorm plateau we were to exploredavid.walker4007/08/2020

From car park in Meikle Inverey (NO 08949 89241). Long approach up Glen Ey to Altanour Lodge on a good Land Rover track perfectly suitable for mountain bikes. Gradual but boggy ascent to just past the grouse butts, conditions underfoot then improve considerably to the summit. Back to the car park by the same route.david23020129/09/2019

Don't knock this hill. Walks from Glen Ey into the 'dull' Munros gave us great views of Golden Eagles. Today was no exception. We went via Allt Connie and after the Ma summit we walked over the broad ridge to Geal Charn in sunshine, arctic moths flying out every boot-step at times, views of violent showers and storms on higher mts. Great craic in bar after with guys who got caught in the storms. Celebrate the fact that bagging takes you to hills like Carn Bhac.pwheeler04/06/2005

Solo on a clear but sultry day from the A93 near Baddoch. Followed the track SW & then followed a vague path past some shooting butts. A heather slog ensued to gain the E top. Clouds were now gathering ahead as I pressed on for the main summit. On arrival a thunderstorm rattled down the glen. Decided to carry on to Carn Bhac as intended & headed N for a short distance & then carefully steeply down W on horrible ground. Rounded NE prow of Beinn Iutharn Mhor & worked a way on easier ground to Carn Bhac. Returned back around W & S side of An Socach to regain track back to the road.NotReallyABagger27/08/2000

With Jim (James) Bellarby and a friend of his. We walked from Inverey over minor tops to Geal Charn, and then towards Carn Bhac (920m top). We got separated in the mist. I went on to Carn a' Bhutha and on the return to the vicinity of Carn Bhac (920m top) met up with Jim and friend. They had no map. We went over 920m top and to main summit of Carn Bhac. To avoid problems with crossing burns, we decided to descend via minor tops to the south of Allt Connie, using track over these tops not shown on map. We walked down Glen Ey. It had been raining continuously, but not heavily. It had been misty but the mist was not thick.pwbellarby12/11/1994

Mountain biked in with Martin Sluce with cross country skis lashed to our bikes -lance like, and with axe and crampons in our sacks - all used. Tough circuit of the 4 Munros with difficult snow/ ice and steep slopes / wind which limited use of skis as did lack of skiing skills (by me)but some long downhill glides on nice gentle slopes made it all worth it, as did surprising quick bike ride out in rapidly fading daylight -having had to miss one Munro top out or be in dark- this top remains unclimbed by me 22 yrs later -1 of 3 Munro tops left to do!Chris Pearson26/03/1994

Staying at Muir Cottage (Cairngorm Club Hut), Inverey. With a few fellow club members. From Glen Dee to Carn Bhac on cross country Skis. From Inverey along the track beside Allt Cristie Mòr and Allt Cristie Beag, then S over several tops to Carn Bhac. Descent was to the NE and down the glen of Allt Connie. Total time for trip was 8hrs. The entire ascent was done on cross-country skis. On the descent skis were carried most of the way down to the glen due to the steepness of the ground and mist. Snow was hard or icy at all levels. Weather was good initially, but there was thick mist on the summit.pwbellarby14/02/1988

Skirted Carn Creagach to go down the ridge ending near Auchelie and back to Muir Cottage. A fine day with very little snow on the ground. Mist on the highest top only.pwbellarby24/01/1987
From Inverey. On forest road to open moor and land rover tracks through crushed heather. Severe NW cold wind on plateau and to top at 12.10.arranc05/06/1986

Did this and its three neighbouring Munros in 1986. A long walk over fairly undulating ground, but quite a distance covered. I am not sure whether I would do this - want to, or be able to - now, 30 years later.spstrachanblank
