From Loch Achray pay parking. Followed waymarked paths. Cloud base at about 600m, lower on the way down, disappointing views. Damp, mild, not very windy. Surprisingly rocky from the 580m col to the summit. Would be a lovely hill in better conditions. Retraced steps most of the way but took a slightly shorter less undulating route via Loch Achray hotel grounds. With PJ, AJ, TH.Owen B14/02/2023

From Ledard, along track towards Ben Venue, turned off onto old track from near NN457050, and followed that up the flank of Creag a' Bhealaich to a high point, then headed straight up slopes to Stob an Lochain, descended roughly N to rejoin the Ben Venue track, followed that up to main summit, returned along track to its point point, then NW up slopes to Beinn Bhreac, continuing to Beinn Chochan, descended E towards valley of Ledard Burn, crossing it where several tributaries meet, rejoining the main track and returned to Ledardkdbennett23/04/2021
From Ledaig Farm. Natural forest of oak and birch, early wildflowers - primrose, celandine. Chaffinch, Meadow Pipits, Buzzard, Barnacle Geese on farm field. Out of forest across moor to final short climb up to summit. Perfect day, lots of folk near summit. Did not visit lower peak. Return same way. Quite a walk for a Graham.Trotticus15/04/2021

Hiked as part of a Ochils Mountaineering Club day meet, I meet Tom Lockie and David Hills at castleview park and ride, Tom drove to the Ben Venue car park, via Aberfoyle as the Callander road was closed due to flooding. We hiked up and down in 04:55hrs, very windy on top, with hail making it unpleasant at times. Some cracking view of the forth valley and Loch Katrine.chillyman823/02/2020

With Dave Roeder and family for his last Graham. From big layby at Ledard (11:10) followed path through woods to open country to col, then along side of ridge to join main path from N at a large cairn. Thence rocky climb to summit and on to trig point before returning. Very hot day; pleasant breeze high up but opressive in valley. Some swimmers on way down. Finished 18:00. Sklow progress but very pleasant company in party of about 10dbb25/08/2019

I was amazed at the number of people up here on a Sunday in February. No need to use a map, just follow the sign posts and Sunday walkers! Interestingly not many people head for the summit and just visit the trig point on the E Top! Solo.Dangerous Dave24/02/2019

Ben Venue and East Top from Ben Venue car park. Sunlit walk through birches and forestry, then deep snow above the 450m level. Clear skies alternating with mini-whiteouts as the Pest from the West added to the snow brought by the Beast from the East. Solo. From Ledard, Loch Ard. Ascended up path to Ben Venue East Top. From East Top on path to main summit of Ben Venue. Duly stood on rock 25m E of cairn, which is the highest point. There is a single stone on the top of the rock – does this constitute a cairn? Continued on path to rejoin ascent route for the descent.pwbellarby13/05/2016

With Anne-Marie. Usual ascent from car park at Loch Achray. Dry and bright, some cloud. Boggy parts in places. My elderly Tourist 1 inch OS map indicated a path descending east to Loch Katrine, so we headed off. However, I will gloss over the details of the actual descent to save further embarrassment. An encounter with a swarm of midges at the end was the final icing on the cake.Glengavel08/08/2015

From new car park near Loch Achray hotel. Normal route to just above tree line then up onto South ridge to avoid deep snow on rest of normal route. Main summit plus all intervening tops. returned by dropping quickly down ointo normal rote - a mistake snow was soft, deep and hard going.dickscroop22/01/2015
With Sarah, glorious day with plenty of snow arouns and a cloud inversion that lasted all day. Came up from the Loch Achray side, which now has a good carpark and a well-signposted path. Coming down we thought we'd found a shortest path down to the treeline on the east of the hill, but it didn't work out and the route through the forest wasn't the best.Colinmac200529/12/2014

From Loch Achray Hotel. A day of high wind and sleet/snow ascended by a route of pure purgatory because i had some perverse wish to do the broad south ridge. This entailed battling through a swathe of felled trees and new plantations. Nobody else on the hill and only a few prints in the snow. Both summits visited. i descended the north-east aspect through steep gullies of soft snow and finally a steep slope of birch trees. There are simpler ways to do the hill, i suppose.thenomad20/02/2014

Staying at Loch Earn? With S and G mates. Very steep descent onN side - missed route, a bit desperate down cliffs. Louise lost car keys - found following day by Punit.Jim T31/12/1998

Estimated date. Done as part of the Challengers Trophy, effectively a team orienteering competition. This stage involved estimating time for ascent from the hotel on N side of Loch Ard & descent to the finish at the hotel at Loch Achray. No bonus for beating your estimate but penalties for every minute you exceeded it by. The overriding memory was of the stink of one of the very early energy drinks provided free by the sponsors... We finished inside our estimated time & moved up the leaderboard!NotReallyABagger25/05/1990

Achray Water- Gleann Riabhach- Ben Venue (NW, then SE top)- Achray Water- Trossachs Pier. Out via forestry path, excellent views over Loch Katrine, return down the old path- very steep, good mountain route; the forest way was dull back in 1983, the rest very enjoyablepwheeler25/05/1983

D of E trip with school. Leaders managed to do a 180 and get us lost ending up with a night in a bothy and a rescue. Thereby starting off a lifetime wandering in the hills, though have always did my own navigating since thendaviemore01/04/1973

I climbed this with a friend around 2008. I can't remember how long it took or the sequence. They were not used to climbing those sorts of hills and got scared at the top. They moaned all the way there and most of the way down. Never climbed another hill with them again. No longer pals! LOL.Baggin\' Annieblank
