3rd of 3 Humps today. From town, parked near Galashiels Academy. Lots of windblown trees on N side of summit. More pleasant descent by paths/tracks on W and NW side of hill. Paths everywhere. | benalder284 | 07/01/2023 |
Here for the trigpoint TP:UK log:

Very cold day think it was about -6 so we thought this woodland walk might be in order. Parked to the north on the verge near the start of a footpath. Followed some very icy paths to the summit but overall not too bad considering. | thejackrustles | 12/12/2022 |
From Woodend. Many trees devastated in recent storms. A fair bit of clambering over was done. Otherwise very straightforward. Just follow the paths. | Crumblie2 | 01/02/2022 |
With Rod from Wood End following tracks then mountain bike trails. Slightly different descent but good walking. | SS | 10/05/2021 |

We were doing a geocaching trail around this hill and thought that we may as well add in a trip to the summit as well. | 3 kinnears | 17/07/2020 |

Parking: Gala Hill and Touting Birks Hill, Pull-in NT 487351. Route: Lazy navigation, just followed my local guides (sister and brother-in-law). | David Evans | 15/02/2018 |
Labyrinth of tracks from NNW until I found a straight path that led directly to the summit. | Topographer57 | 05/11/2017 |
Day trip by train to Galashiels. Solo. After ascending Meigle Hill, Mount Skep and Touting Birks Hill. Went northwards to west of small forested areas and through forest to summit trig column on Gala Hill. Some of the tracks shown on the OS 1:25,000 map in the forest are overgrown. Got back to the railway station 30 seconds before a train was due. Mixture of cloud and sun. | pwbellarby | 12/09/2017 |
Pleasent 50 min round trip from centre of Galashiels. Straight forward. | trimarc2 | 06/06/2017 |

Very pleasent open pine forest with grassy understorey. | RichardM | 04/02/2017 |
Via Borders Railway from Gala station . Up on to SUW way, followed to E and then up track from E. Track is very muddy due to horse use. No View. Then Touting Birks. | Thearlaichdubh | 29/11/2016 |
straight up through the trees from wood end. | robertphillips | 05/05/2016 |
This should have been a day of rest but I was restless to climb hills so I decided to implement my walking route from Galashiels to Melrose. Easy access from road ignoring first track but then taking old forest ride into clearing then taking a forest track upwards, veering off this to climb through a lovely glade of bracken and lush grass in between the conifers. Wonderful feel to the place. Easy to find the trig. Descent by my own route eventually brought me to the edge of the woodland and back onto the Southern Upland way. | Dazingdale | 16/05/2015 |
Via logging track, and foot paths. Lovely lush summit, no view. Saw a deer 😀 | Phillipjulie | 12/05/2015 |
From N. Lots of paths - none going directly in the direction of the summit. | jimbloomer | 21/02/2015 |
From Wood End, not much parking. Access roads muddy from timber extraction, so just made way straight uphill to quarry on top road, and then small footpath to wide ride over the summit. Very pleasant hill, even if there's no view. | Minto | 04/01/2014 |
From Wood End, variety of tracks to follow. With Fiona, Alexander & Rebecca. | agentmancuso | 04/04/2012 |
From west, along tracks then up through trees. | ZanderH | 04/04/2012 |
Parked at Wood End. | chrisbien | 19/06/2010 |
Easy Hill, good footpaths all the way to summit. Trig point right beside footpath. Good Hill for deer saw some when I came out the forest. | KRae | 21/08/2009 |
Easy bag - good footpaths everywhere. Trig point in trees - not much of a view. | maknipe | 22/09/2007 |
Popular forested hill, open pine, no view. From N, maze of paths, MTB route is the most direct. | RHW | 23/07/2006 |
Up on muddy extraction tracks. There is currently forestry works in the forest so beware. The top is looking more open though with a better view than before! | Katrina89 | blank |
