park 786498 tracks to 784501 path through felled pines cross wall 7791 5001 to upper track to 7818 5001 then easy up return same route with Darcie and Winnie 5.6 ks 2 hrs 30 minsunderhill24/01/2024
Parked by Information Board at SH786497. There appears to be a car park a few hundred metres up the track for the mountain bikers. Followed forestry track to approx SH784495 the turned right on northerly forestry track. A footpath cuts left at approx SH784501 cutting through felled forest. A short cut can be made as you are about re-enter the forest (SH7806650049) and follow an overgrown track that meets the stone wall. Follow this a short distance then cut up to forestry track. A new rough track cuts up to an opening in the fence (SH7815449956) to the open ground to the summit.BaggerGutt07/12/2023
From Y Ro Wen, then back over the ridiculously boggy path - Pigyn Esgob to Bwlch y Groes and down to Dolwyddelan.Geoff Briggs19/11/2022
Car parking where the forest track meets the road. Up tracks to meet a cyclepath at SH78368 50081. Follow to the unfelled forest at SH782 50065. From here SSE following a ruined wall through the felled forest, to meet the track. At logpiles a short logging track leads to a field gate. Upwards on rough ground to the summit. Return the reverse. 3miles round trip.Moorponder08/10/2022

Parked opposite the cemetery and then followed gerrybowes route which was excellent.clivevilla07/05/2021
Parked tight against wall of cemetery at SH 7888 5035 - Up farm track past metal barn & after 2nd gate took left fork - Up forest tracks to junction with overgrown track at SH 7823 4995 - Up track & bit of a path to gate & then across rough ground to the unmarked summit. Mounds to NE & SE appear to be of similar height. (S)gerrybowes20/04/2021

Run with Rufus from Penmachno. Went the same way as others mentioned up the wet firebreak/track from the upper forest road. Took a shortcut from the lower to upper track and was absolutely shredded by brambles and spruce, stick to the main tracks! Great view from the top.jacobrichmond20/01/2020
From road end beyond Plas Glasgwm. Found a way up, and a better way down! With R and B.jenx26/06/2019
Me and Alf. Either park at Blaen Glasgwm or the busier Oernant. Follow higher forest track until you reach an obvious gap which leads to disused quarry. Wander up to top and back.jrj13/02/2017
forest thrash from Penmachno. lovely sunny views on top. With Bernard and sarah.Denise 15/10/2016
Tracks and no tracks through forest from Penmachno introducing a couple of friends to the delights of Humps. After a wet start sunshine and blue sky on the summit.RichardM15/10/2016
My first Hill in my Hill Bagging career, walking with Sarah, Richard and Denise.Bernard15/10/2016
My first day of Hill Bagging with friends Richard and Denise. Through forest, bog and rough going. A great day of walking and friendship.SarahS15/10/2016
By a devious route - I tried to follow Gordon's line but kept getting lost - I got there in the end but could have covered a lot less ground.Chris Peart09/09/2016
Used Gordon Adshead's route. It worked. Just to clarify, don't take the cycle track but head directly uphill to the stone square before a rising traverse through the woods. This fizzles out but the track above is easily reached. Turn right on track and after 50 ms there is a rough wet track up to the gate and onto open hill.Campbell Singer30/06/2016
Found the useful firebreak but only on descent. Should've paid more attention to Gordon's directions. It really isn't obvious until you're in it. Got totally drenched.Colin Crawford12/03/2015
From Penmachno via forest tracks. Couldn't find a way up NE ridge so followed forest track around to SE of summit and went up from there.Wheelsy28/10/2014
Second attempt: The NE ride really exists ! From high point on lower forest road at 783500 straight up from the post at start of cycle track past a square of stones: old track goes up from upper forest roasd at 782499 to gate at 781499 into the summit open area.GordonAdshead29/03/2014
Done in conjunction with Y Ro Wen, walking from Penmachno to Dolwyddelan.Alex C22/11/2013
Park on road in Penmachno village. Walk up on forest roads. Ignore all mountain bike tracks. At 782500 a disused track leads up sharply to the right, then a washed out path gives access to the moor free of trees with a small gate.arranc23/07/2013
Penmachno to Dolwyddelan. Stayed zig zaging up the forest longer than neccessary to wait out a heavy rain shower. Found Chris's old track I think - SH782499. Exited summit area at SH771490 from where the forest road is visible.Smudge23/11/2012
Parked in Cwm Penmachno by church. As for Rekrab for ascent. Left forest road at highest point by quarry for hard steep pull through new planting, then easier ground beyond non-barbed fence. Descent SW to wall, which I followed down to broken stile by forest road at SH 77961 49281. Then round by forest road N & W to point where I left it by quarry. I recommend my descent route for easiest route to summit. Hill used by mountain bikers, so GOML unlikely.Man of Kernow108/07/2012
Walked with Adrian jones. parked outside telephone exchange. took road up to Pen-y-Bryn farm. forked left. followed road to clearing took fork to double back. Headed S at old quarry through newly planted Forrest. descended same way.Rekrab01/03/2012
As CW - lots of parking near gates - even opposite the track. Easy walking following until the deforestation. Then ankle breaking stuff followed by heather and some bog. Didn't find CW descent.destaylor04/11/2011
Parked by cemetery gates in Penmachno - nobody was going out! Followed track to 776498 and then climbed up through felled area to summit. Descended east by old track just below fence which gave safer access to forest road and then returned by ascent routechriswatson11/05/2011
