|From the ruined Foel-fawr, as others, up the narrow firebreak in the trees. Then on to Pengwn Mawr bwo a steep drop through trees.||Alan Moore||10/10/2018|
|We approached this from the access land to the east, which is possible but not recommended- the oak woods are pleasant but there is then a steep conifer thrash, with spiky dry side branches, then a steep shaly open section, before following the south side of the forest along the ridge. The small summit cairn is a few m into the forest, at the spotheight, in a vague firebreak- no views! WE continued west along the ridge and then descended a firebreak north to a track not marked on our map which led to the ruined Foel Fawr farm- this is probably the better ascent route, but not great either!||Denise||30/08/2018|
|By the exciting SE shoulder, hands and knees through forest then steep crumbling slate / shale. Sort of satisfying to reach the tiny cairn in forest.||RichardM||30/08/2018|

|zig zag up the forest track past the ruined house. As you emerge from the forest into a bit that was fairly recently felled go left up the fence line to the point that Des Taylor mentions. This was previously quite wide with vehicle tracks but the trees have grown and, in places, you have to fight through them. However, all of a sudden the top appears right on the track.||clivevilla||08/02/2015|
|Last Hump in this area: As DesTaylor: Thanks to the notes below, it is a doddle using the old narrow track coming up the NNW ridge from 016843 (the kink in the fence line for those of us with 6 digit GPSs: but easy to find using a new bulldozed track cutting back West above the old farm.||GordonAdshead||26/07/2014|
|As destaylor.||Chris Peart||11/07/2014|
|Parked by barn SO021847 and then followed right R.O.W. to derelict building over double gate onto track and followed this to rear of derelict building, very shortly leave track and bear half left through trees and slight clearing with old fencing on your right, the break bears around to the left and at the next junction go left and follow this break on approx. the 400m contour with no turn off's until you get to the end then turn right up break to top. Easy walking throughout.
|Llanidloes to Glanfeinion. Given permission to go through wood from road at SO012842 to SE corner & gain the ROW track. Eventually located the thin summit trail which requires the occasional bit of forcing through encroaching pine branches.||Smudge||01/03/2013|
|As Des easy enough if you find the narrow path. Lots of mushrooms. With Phil Cooper first HuMP of the day.||Dugswell2||16/11/2012|
|Looked completely impossible from the back.||arranc||02/09/2012|
|With Myrddyn Phillips. Via the narrow ride which commences at SO 016 843. An esoteric and worthwhile adventure.||summitsup||22/09/2011|
|Maybe I should have paid more attention to the advice given by Des and Darren - however I think by coincidence and luck (and of course my experience, talent and good looks) I found roughly the same way as them||Martin R||26/08/2011|
|what a nightmare of a hill.thank god for des taylors description.I parked at high point on road to the north and followed the track to the ruined house. Keep following the track to SO 01751 84357 and enter the forest where you follow an old fence to SO 01||DARRENG||13/06/2011|
|Parked easily to N. Followed track to ruined house. Then enter the forest. At point 01678 84331 a small path starts and goes all the way.||destaylor||15/04/2011|
|See post number 18103 on the rhb Yahoo Group for a full description of my (not to be recommended) route. Check out the hill on Google Earth for the best route - not shown on OS maps.||marktrengove||03/04/2011|
