Parked at highpoint of road to Adamthwaite. Wandale Hill, Kensgriff, Randy Gill Top, Hooksey, Green Bell. Went down road to Adamthwaite, then ROW right. Once over the stream and on open moorland, can go straight up with no fences to negotiate.PGCE03/06/2020
15.29 from high point of road to the east anti-clockwise circuit over 5 tops this one last.vegibagger16/03/2020
From the north. Parked on edge of area of hardstanding (turning point) at NY 7130 0044 - Down road for 300m & then forked right along stone track, joining bridleway W. of farm - As jonglew, along bridleway to gate & then across stream at SD 7060 9971 - Over low fence & then up alongside wall before making way up through saplings fo wire fence - Crossed fence at braced post & then a steady climb up to summit cairn. From the high point of the Adamthwaite road, with Ellie dog.BLACKHILL28/12/2019
Circular walk including Knott, Greenbell, Hooksey, Randygill top, Kensgriff, Wandale Hill and Harter fell largly on good grassy tracks but some stiff climbs.cjo18/05/2019
Roadside verge parking (NY 7115 0024), could probably have parked closer, but this way not blocking anything. Crossed the stream at SD 7060 9971, after which just a trot up the hill; one new fence to negotiate above the saplings. 45 min round trip in wind and rain.jonglew08/12/2018
Parked near the end of the minor road from the north before taking the track WSW and then making a direct ascent. Harder than it looked but it was a wonderful day.clivevilla11/09/2018
From Cross Keys, old road to Narthwaite was pleasant, then straight up S ridge- there's a gate on this at the access land; followed ROW back, via Wandale- a scrappy fp. Part walking, part running to bag this neglected hill.pwheeler22/07/2018
C/W circuit (15km, 980m ascent) starting from CP just W of Rawthey Bridge. Wandale, Yarlside, Kensgriff, Randygill, Green Bell, Gere, Adamthwaite & Harter. Nice circuit - good variety of hills. Fine (a bit too hot) weather - only a few cleg bites today.ger04/07/2018

Wandale Hill from GR: NY 71085 00175ronaldo33323/03/2018
No parking at farm. Very boggy bridal way on north side then a grassy plod in the mist.jenx23/10/2017
With Jenx and Bryher, what Jen meant was the farmer when asked said 'no parking here, go up the road outside gate there's a car park' grumpily. On return I checked and it's public road to the farm and then a Byway for 85yds to bridge, which should allow parking. There was a red car parked there already. We went from up the road, found verge parking at 7115 0023 just outside gate and used the higher track to access hill, bridleway heading West was a real mess once off path, cut down to beck and through new plantings. Gate in top right corner, soggy fell thereafter.nordicstar23/10/2017
With K from Randy Gill Top. Returned to Cross Keys pub via Narthwaite farm. Paths very boggy at Narthwaite and there is no bridge on the 'A Pennine Journey' LDP over the Backside Beck at 700 976.Ashley09/10/2017
Last hill of the day on a circuit from the Cross Keys. From the wet Adamthwaite Sike up N shoulder and down S ridge. Bridleway on W side of hill very wet and muddy.RichardM12/03/2017
Small neat carin on grass. Easy grassy ascent over access land from the boggy path that goes SW of Adamthwaite farm. Then descended back to path and followed back to Cross Keys Temperance Inn.Denise 12/03/2017
5.2 mile walk on easy terrain from Cross Keys, walked up through Narthwaite farm and onto Wandale Hill, then descended west easily forded Backside Beck where it joins Spen Gill, then climbed up to Kensgriff across Saddle and scrambled up to Yarlside, one we've been meaning to do since 2012, descended Ben End back to Cross Keys, hot and sunny, now bagged every east Howgills hill.DanTrig17/08/2016

Parked at Cross. After visiting Harter Fell walked down to Adamthwaite and followed bridleway to access land, then up to Wandale hill summit. No paths as such but easy ground.Fisky Boy08/05/2016

With Jo, from Cross (high point of narrow road): Harter Fell then via Adamthwaite onto Wandale Hill (stones have now tripled). Weather; high cloud, mild, good visibility.amblerbob09/10/2015
Done along with Harter Fell (see other log)thenomad09/12/2014
From summit of minor road near Adamthwaite - good parking. Grere Fell, Green Bell, Hooksey, Randygill Top, Wandale Hill (do not descend directly towards Wandale Hill as the streams are in deep gorges - far easier to return part way along the ridge to Stockless then contour and descend to the east of Spen Gill), Harter Fell.ijpowell10/07/2014
Circular Hannon walk from Handley's Bridge(farmer correctly said no right of way over bridge and complained about Mr.Hannon).Good views throughout on cloudy day. With Peter.catman03/05/2014
Parked next to Cross Keys Inn. Walked on round with Grere Fell, Green Bell, Randytop Gill, Kensgriff & Yarlside. With Issy & Jay.Ade20/04/2014
After the calf and Yarlside from Cross Keys. Lovely weather.then White Scar cave in afternoonThearlaichdubh31/03/2014
It makes sense to combine this hill with Harter Fell just to the north east. If this is your plan park at the summit of the Adamthwaite road then take in Harter Fell first (an easy wander over quite benign ground. You can them drop down on access land to the road north of A'thwaite where you can pick up the bridleway round the farm, cross the stream and head straight up the open access to the summit. A 4 mile, 2 hour round trip.moorsman08/03/2014
From the north, parked 100 yards before the gate across the road at Adamthwaite. Small pool right on the top.arranc18/06/2013
Started from Handley's Bridge just up road from the Temperance Hotel. Circuit of this and Kensgriff. Interesting geology and flora in the gorges between the two.Aye Jimmy30/04/2013
From pt 404 on minor road, jogged up Harter fell, then down to Adamathwaite at NE ridge to take in Wandale hill easily.nordicstar16/12/2012
Parked a few hundred metres above Adamthwaite. Followed bridleway then go left at a large standing stone. Then through a gate to the open fell. No paths. Road probably not suitable if frost/ice.destaylor20/10/2012
A big detour on a Howgill walk - from Grere Fell to Wandale Hill then back up to Adamthwaite Bank - crazy work!David Gradwell22/04/2012
Great hill to start the days walk. Could see all the planned days tops; Green Bell, RandyGill Top, Yarlside and Kensgriff. Only trouble was Kensgriff hid the massive descent from RG Top before haveing to ascend Yarlside.SteveSmith29/02/2012
Successful triple 1201th Hump attempt with Chris B, Chris W and Jon W in dry, windy but improving weather. Only 18 on this summit for Cava and cake. Rob W, Jim B, Smudge, Martin R, Ann B, Bob + Louise, Mark T, Andy T etal. Then The Black Swan for a beer.Dugswell230/10/2011

Solo from NE. My final High Hill of England & Wales (i.e 500m high hills with 100m drop as listed by Mark Jackson & Mark Trengrove)Chris Pearson07/08/2011
Walked here from Green Bell via the valley inbetween. Not too bad underfoot. My GPS was reading 500-501 meters at ground level on the top but it is probably not a Dewey I guess. My GPS is prob not accurate?Father Ted19/03/2011
From Harter Fell, Followed road to Adamthwaite and took bridleway north of Wandale Hill. Just after a large shed, started southward to top. Took baring to Mountain View bridleway for return back to Cross Keys.Jhimmy02/01/2011
On Tony's joint walk with the Kendal Fellwalkers. Wild Boar Fell and then over here and up to Green Bell. Ravens Boars and a Bell walk!nickywood122/08/2010
