2603623/01/2018SD 97335 16266  F: Large boulder with cut arrow, possibly the old trig from principal triangulation.
O: Arrow on summit boulder is not an OS benchmark - none shown up there on any 19th or 20thC maps.

O: This summit should be a joint border with Calderdale UA. The Boundary line follows the watershead here as opposed to the Penine Way path/ trig point clearly in Rochdale UA. http://communities.maps.arcgis.com/apps/Compare/storytelling_compare/index.html?ap

Here for the pillar but also ventured over to find the cut mark on the summit. TP:UK log: Lovely walk up from SD 97730 18104. Although advised on the way the path was difficult and we'd have been better off going from the pub? Needed a wee punt up to hug the trig. Thanks Aileen! Superb place with wild and urban views but bitterly cold today. HP is on large gritstone boulder with old trig mark(?) at SE side of plateau, and trig is on NW edge, also with trig mark (?) on SW edge of trig boulder. Next time we will look for the large bed shaped depression on top of a tor on the SW side of the plateau, known as Robin Hood's Bed.Denise 01/02/2021
Approached from S over impressive bridge crossing the M62. Visited all the potential high points and the great trig pillar. Ice and a cold E wind on plateau but lunch at base of the Edge in warm sunshine.RichardM01/02/2021

9 mile Circuit from car park at western end of Baitings reservoir over Cat stones, Dog hill, Green Withens Reservoir to Pennine Way crossing with M62. Back along Pennine Way and then Old Packhorse Road. A lot of permissive paths about that aren't on my old 1:25000 South Pennines map.JulieB17/02/2019
With E. From the car park by Windy Hill transmitter. Potholes bad but all the rubbish left = sad. Bridge high over M62, good stone slab path to trig point then across to large boulder. Took me a while to find OS bench mark on boulder then scrambled onto top. Bright sunshine and windy.Beeliner17/02/2019

From The White Horse CP on A58. Cloud down, wet, windy. Very bleak. Arrow on the summit boulder is unlikely to be a benchmark as no datum seen, not the usual OS style, and none shown on any old maps. Possible it's the old trig show on old maps at the hill summit.jonglew23/01/2018
