On own. A dry, cold day with wind making temperatures sub zero. From Hartington village along minor roads to access road outside Wolfscote Grange then through metalled gate and steeply uphill alongside wall to summit and trig point. Return same route.Beeliner09/01/2024
Took the signed path from the lovely Hartington Farm Shop and Cafe, across into woodland to follow the River Dove, crossing a bridge and up a track, then the minor road past Wolfscote Grange. Up the path beyond the gate to the summit. Returned by minor roads to Hartington.LizH20/08/2023

Parked next to gateway to south, walked up hill a small distance, over gate and followed fence line to top. Light snow on ground and lovely views. Direct route back to car - steep snowy descent in running shoes was rather unpleasant. Two hard falls.Herbert Anchovy24/02/2022

First proper walk with Ivy in the bag now 7 months old! Started early from Hartington, Misty so no views but nice and peaceful. When entering the access land follow the vehicle track all the way as it takes you right to the trig.Jephcote8329/11/2020

Loop from Alstonefield. Missed the rain mainly, Wolfscote dale including caves which are worth a look, Wolfscote Hill, Gratton Hill and across to Narrowdale hill. Bit of a tricky one getting onto the right side of walls, but fun nonetheless, 10km in 4 hrs.Nicky C28/10/2020
Took direct approach from SW which is steep but doable. Nice rocky summit with great views all round. With Tol and Evie.RoguePulsar06/09/2020

Difficult to park if you obey the no parking signs. There is a spot on west side of track just before The Whim. An easy, under one mile, solo return across sheep pasture.bolton11/03/2020

On a walk from Alstonefield, along Wolfescote Dale, back via Narrowdale- done a few times, but this the first time with the hills as well- this one, Narrowdale Hill and Gratton Hill. We traversed Wolfscote Hill SE to NW, using a route marked by green posts to connect the access land with more recent CROW access. Very pleasant terrain. We got the exit a bit wrong, clambering through a delapidated wall- no harm done, but would be better to find the right place. With Pete.pwheeler14/03/2018
National TRust land so public access permitted. Most potentional parking places down the access road have official no parking notices in them. Managed to park however immediately before Wolfscote Grange Farm (alt 261m) Continued towards The Whim climbing the fencing at a wooden railing. Straight upwards from here. 1.26km return.30 mins. 172, ascent.moorsman10/03/2018

Parked by holiday cottage at foot of hill. Lane and up through field to trig. Great views.Ramblingpaul24/07/2017
Parking: Very tight in by access point gate SK137580. Route: Over access gate and immediately through wooden gate, then NNW to summit.David Evans02/04/2017
Great to get out after 3 days cloistered away indoors slaving. This is a very good hill, steep, an interesting summit and nice dry grass to walk on even in January. Just goes to show that the Derbyshire side of the river is the place to be. Shame that the fog rolled in just as I got to the top.Gill25/01/2017
