From Linn of Dee; Carn a Mhaim, Ben Macdui, Beinn Mheadhoin, Creagan a Choire Etchachan, Derry Cairngorm and back over Carn Crom to Linn of Dee. Walked the whole way time 11 hours for 24.25 miles. Showery and cold on the plateau with winds gusting to 50-60mph. Saw Golden Eagle Ptarmigan and Snow Bunting.isabelle02/10/2023
Circuit with camping from Linn of Dee taking in tops on E side then W side of Glen Derry. Climbed Meall an Lundain from south, trackless terrain, continued along ridge to climb Beinn Bhreac and Beinn Bhreac West Top. Crossed quite boggy ridge to climb Beinn a' Chaorainn Bheag, bypassed Beinn a' Chaorainn itself on descent to high point of Lairig an Laoigh. Steep climb to Stob Coire Etchachan, and easy ground to Beinn Mheadhoin SW Top and the excellent vantage point of Stacan Dubha. Descended to Loch Etchachan and climbed Creagan a' Choire Etchachan, across to Sgurr an Lochan Uaine. Bypassed Derry Cairngorm on way to Little Cairngorm and then Carn Crom. Descent to Derry Lodge and back to Linn of Dee. Quite cold biting wind for much of route but views generally good with most summits reasonably clear for much of the time.RobertP30/08/2023

From Linn of Dee Car Park (NO 06340 89816)). Good track to Derry Lodge, good track/path up Glen Derry (occasionally muddy in places). If Glas Allt Mor is in spate then crossing it could be a problem. Clear, stony path (stepped in places) from Coire Etchachan Burn up onto the summit plateau, visible path to the SW top. Low visibility on the plateau so careful navigation required to reach the Munro summit which is a huge granite tor, a nervy scramble to the top in gale-force conditions!david23020103/10/2019

With Richard P. Blue sky day. A long walk in from Cairngorm car park. River crossing near Shelter Stone was entertaining. I boulder hopped across with no difficulty, Richard took his boots and socks off - it was very cold.langskill14/04/2007

Cairngorm Club bus meet - Cairngorm Traverse. From car park at Coire Cas. Solo. After climbing Fiacaille Ridge I descended to the Shelter Stone via Coire Domhain. I joined a barbecue there with other club members. Took the path towards Loch Etchachan. Before the loch struck up the hillside to SW Top of Beinn Mheadoin. I continued to the main top of Beinn Mheadoin and scrambled up the rocks of the final tor. Walked south to reach the summit of Stob Coire Etchachan. I went a little NE before descending to Lairig an Laoigh. Walked out to Linn of Dee. There was no problem with the burn that caused so much trouble on the 2001 traverse.pwbellarby15/09/2002

Cairngorm Club bus meet - Cairngorm Traverse starting at Coire Cas. After Fiacaille a’ Choire Chais I descended Coire Raibert to the Shelter Stone. Continued on path towards Loch Etchachan, but then struck up hillside to the summit of Stacan Dubha. Went on to summit of the SW Top of Beinn Mheadhoin. It was by now very misty and damp. I went a little way towards the main summit and decided the conditions were not suitable for continuation. I went down SW to Loch Etchachan where I met the President’s Party. One of the Party joined me to descend past the Hutchison Memorial Hut and down Glen Derry and Linn of Dee. A good deal of difficulty crossing Glas Allt Mòr as it was in spate.pwbellarby16/09/2001
