2435426/07/2018SO 39988 44403  F: High point seems to be the base of a tree.
O: The summit area is a working forest and therefore the natural highpoint is hard to identify.

O: Not easy to determine where the top of the hill is, it's all wooded and uneven. We initally aimed for the 221 m spot height marked on the OS 1:25k map, until we got there and realised it wasn't the top. Then saw a 230m spot height but managed to attain 23

From Mansell Gamage along BW to point 149 then up track almost to top. Confused by the ‘dogs to be kept on lead’ sign beyond the others. Forestry work taking place but not on a Sunday. Short walk off track to HP in trees on faint trod.PeterD31/03/2024
With kind permission of Sir Harry Cotterill, went up from Garnons House enjoying fantastic bird and mammal life (hare & roe deer). Traced some of Offa's Dyke across the hill. Returned via the north of the hill.Rob Rees06/05/2021
Good parking spot by Bishopston Church. Took fp from lane corner to join Three Rivers Ride and followed NW to SO 4073 4444. Headed towards the overgrown ruin of Kenowly Farm and then steeply up under beech, crossed first contouring track, and continued WSW up decent track along a beech avenue. The hp is not far off the upper track, brambles not a problem today.milimana12/04/2021
Layby at 390451 straightfwd parking. Keep out signs as you enter the wood. Lots of good tracks as shown on map, so much so that I could rectify taking the wrong track at one point. Summit dreadful though, the undergrowth needed a fight for ca 100 m of the track at this time of year. I planned NOT to bag this one but weakened resolve as I had plenty of time. Not recommended though unless you can't bear the thought of failing to complete 38B.pwheeler04/09/2020
Parked in a decent pull-in to the ESE at SO 4132 4404 - W. on RoW to to join Three Rivers Ride - S. along RoW to high point at 411435, turned right & up alongside edge of wood to forest track - Turned left & along track for about 100m to junction, turned right & up track to junction at 402442 - Turned left, then right & along Offa's Dyke to unmarked summit. Ground to E. of path looks as high, if not higher. (S)gerrybowes20/05/2020
Nice conditions for mid-December to wander up here. Unsatisfactory summit tick, but still a really nice part of the country.Alex C09/12/2019
With K at dusk. GOML notices but didn't see anyone. March up and down. Occured to me en route that dusk may be a favoured time for shooting and perhaps not the best time for this.Ashley09/09/2019
Followed track from Mansell Gamage past 'Army' camp. About sh*t myself after I encountered a mannequin in camo gear whilst exploring said camp. Took dirt and stone track all the way to near transmitter tower, then found the unsatisfactory summit. Got caught by gamekeeper on descent, he wasn't too bad about it.RyParks09/09/2019
Odd top, ok parking down road given by obliging lady at last house. Gamekeeper buzzing round in land rover. Top grid wrong. Obvious summit area in pines. With Jenx and Bryhernordicstar31/12/2018
A fair bit of sneaking once off the ROW.jenx31/12/2018
Parked on verge by Home Farm (SO401435) and followed road and tracks to summit.Ramblingpaul26/07/2018
Used Jim's route. Tyre barrier is near the 233 spot height, but I think there is higher ground SE of this at about SO 4009 4432 (just S of the 'S' of 'Garnons'). Most of the summit area has recently been felled, so a lot easier to access.PGCE09/07/2018
Good parking @ SO401435. Use obvious tracks thru' woods but via SO 39766 44226. At track junction (SO 39766 44226) take left hand over-grown track which leads to summit. HP appeared to be SO 39999 44383 and not the spot height shown on the mapcarole engel04/11/2017
Parked with permission on grassy verge by house at SO 4094 4328 and walked up the track through the field adjacent to the bridleway (where you could also park). At 4015 4354 followed a vehicle track WNW to meet a forest road at 4072 4374. W a short distance then N to pass a house at 406438 continuing NW on the forest road to 402442 where a track went SW to meet Offa's Dyke path near a transmitter building. This went NW to the summit which looked to be near a barrier of car tyres though I had a thrash around in the brambly undergrowth. No warnings or access problems.Jim.Fothergill29/07/2017
Approached from the south. HP to south of track.Adrian16/10/2016
Did as others and took the bridleway from Mansell Garnage. Left the track near the top and headed into the brambles to find a suitable looking high spot. A handily placed squirrel poisoning bait station marked the route back down.Herbert Anchovy11/03/2015

Parked about 300m north of the start of the bridle path in Mansell Gamage. Took the path for approx 500m before turning SE into the woods for approx 1km. There is a good path most of the way. We met numerous horse riders walking towards us, all had bibs on in an obvious organized event, all politely said hello. Fortunately none of the organizers/owners were amongst them!jonglew26/05/2013
Approached via the bridleway to the south-east.JohnStoneham01/07/2012
From Mansell Gamage via briddleway then SSE trespass up track passed old sign "Shooting in Progress". Quick bag of raised ground to east of summit track which is overgrown from north but improves.Dugswell216/09/2011
Parked on grass verge outside a bungalow. hot sunshine. on farm tracks by fields and into wood. Moving north past a mast to find GPS high point. No view - trees.arranc25/08/2011
P beside house near start of ROW. Up to next field, along edge into wood. Followed tracks. Best to go along track to SW of top as easier walking. Got to top and gamekeeper told me to leave.chrisbien17/07/2011
From S. Bit of raised ground just off the path to the E as good as any.destaylor11/09/2010
