| Asked permission to park in Admiral Rodney car park with promise to buy a coffee on return. Accessed from usual point to the south over gate but ground not hard enough to park without blocking gate. Followed track north to another gate then up a steeper track to wooded area. Looked very brambly but is a clear route to the left to the trig pillar. On to summit then making a circular walk by heading straight over. Looked private property to head straight for the road so stayed with vehicle tracks to bring me out on Worcestershire Way near Berrow Farm. Back to the pub and coffee. | With K. What a nightmare! Ascended from S. There are pedestrian gates but route very overgrown. Crawling though nettle-infested bracken. Strongly recommend against this route. Summit has fallen beacon. Deducing that the farmer must access the summit meadow by some other route we left to N following track down to NW. Instead of passing through Berrow Farm we turned left (SW) by shipping container and sign saying No Horses (an inviting sign to pedestrians). Followed decent tracks past spring and lots of clay pigeon equipment. Hoped for anti-clockwise circuit of hill but faced deep wooded cloughs running into river. Disappointed to discover we were close to river. Partially reascended through wood crossing fences before exiting on track. Not a good route. | Park on grass verge of lane to S then NE up hedge line into woods on SW slope. Pheasants, shooting perch and a few old brambles before emerging close to trig point in summit pasture. | Followed route from south through two gates. New trees planted after second gate, so ground fairly okay albeit steep. Last bit has not been planted, so a minor tussle with brambles: keep going directly uphill to find an old stile over the fence. Trig point is then not far away. | PGCE | 24/03/2017 |
| Took the route from the south and found it fairly awful. The path through the bracken had only been cut part way and then it was a steep slog through bracken and brambles. Looks like no one on this site had been that way since April so guess it had grown up somewhat. Came out by trig and then on to the fallen beacon which seems to have been rotten at its bottom. | No public access; trespass the only option to bag this hill and trig. Parked on roadside opposite a field gate (SO 74330 58055) on minor road. Walked NW to a gate in opposite side of field, then NE along a wide track cut into the fern that hasn't been maintained for a couple of years. Finally broke out into summit clearing close to the trig. Pleasant 250m walk across to the fire basket/beacon for the true summit.
