Day 1 on The Ridgeway. Popped over the fence from the track. Discarded my backpack & jogged to the Trig & back. No crops at this time of year.fosal2925/09/2022

Car park to N. at SU 1292 7475 - SE along road for about 350m to gates & then around edge of harvested & disc harrowed field before heading N. to summit trig point. (S)gerrybowes06/09/2021

Drove from Barbury Hill car park via Byeways (no problem in my SEAT Alhambra). Walked down the Ridgeway path but was defeated by high vegetation and bwf from entering the field with the trig. I then relocated and parked at SU 13186 74497, where there is the gate into the field and then followed the appropriate tractor trackDC11main18/07/2021

Not summited due to crop in fieldbwm30/08/2020
Failed attempt due to crops in field. Parked in Hackpen Hill car park SE of Hackpen White Horse. Headed SW along The Ridgeway for 700m looking for field access on left. Mo gate, only barb wire and dense crops (broad beans). Returned to road and followed it SE to Shoulder of Mutton Plantation where there is a gate. Overgrown field boundary, no tractor tracks and no crop rows as beans densely and seemingly randomly planted. Trig pillar not visible so requires a return visit when no crops.mntainman20/07/2020
Arable field which had been harvested. Quick walk to trig and back.Ramblingpaul13/09/2019
Summit seen but not reached as it was in a hayfield on prvate landamicablyinert01/09/2019
From hack pen car park walked for a mile along the ridgeway in the wrong direction. After finding the gate next to the car park, we waited for the farmer to go, and followed tractor tracks to the trig.ChinnockC01/06/2019
Car park to N. Along road SE to gate into field just after 269 spot, track skirted side of wood then used tractor lines through growing crop out to trig.Aye Jimmy14/04/2019

1st of 6 tops on the 2nd stage of the Ridgeway with Lesley, walking from Berwick Bassett to Hinton Parva. An easy out and back to the Trig pillar via a Bw fence. Flattish summit area. I returned with some of the mud still attached to my boots. Onwards on the Ridgeway heading for Barbury Down...Dazingdale23/09/2018
Six Trig tour with Minnie, very warm all day, Hackpen Hill from hilltop parking plus White Horse & a bonus crop circle, then Walbury Hill sheep pasture from parking to East then Pilot Hill, roadside parking to SE, Beacon Hill- steepest of the day, then Wabbit hunting on Watership Down, finally a wander on Greenham Common, not a listed top but found the trig.apricorum24/06/2018
From Car park, along ridgeway, then beeline for trig.PeterD07/05/2018
Along track from Car Park then gingerly through barbed wire fence. Heavy clay ploughed field hugely caked my bootsvegibagger29/03/2018
Walked along the Ridgeway from Barbury Castle. Solo. Dense fog gave me cover as I crossed yet another barbed wire fence, over another crop field summit in this area. Why aren't the hill summits valued and accessible around here?!Dangerous Dave19/02/2018

Parked in the nearby car park, that was surprisingly busy for a weekday in November. Walked along the Ridgeway for about 1 km,before hopping over a gate into the field. This was full of stubble at this time of year. From the trig headed straight back towards the car park, hopping the gate opposite it.Sprog01/11/2017
Approached from Ridgeway track. Field of rough grass and stubble. Levelish summit with trig point.RichardM18/01/2017

Parking in the usual car park and then along the Ridgeway, As I arrived it was harvest time and the hay bails were being loaded onto a tractor, I was intending to ask the farmer/workers for permission, as I walked along it became apparent that they were off to empty the trailer, my assumption therefore was, there would be a while! so hoped fenced and walked the 200m ish across the stubble to the Pillar and summit, good condition, amazing weather and great views.griefmiester16/08/2016
I spent a lot of time on Milk Hill and admiring Silbury Hill so decided to do this as a quick bag from the white horse/ Ridgeway car park. A mile, the part over a ploughed arable field a dull bag but one could have a good walk, eg from Barberry Castle.pwheeler14/03/2016
Climbed up from Broad Hinton, coldish over cast day. Still good views though.DanMaisieBex17/10/2015
1/3 Quick walk up track from car park than quick walk to trig pillarFergalh28/04/2015
Quick over the fence from the car park. In arable field so would be awkward in the summer.simon and co12/03/2015
From car park, then along Ridgeway to Barbury Down.Chris Pearson16/02/2015
Short walk over field from parking. Bagged whilst in area geocaching. :)CornishGazza09/11/2014
Trig pillar is still in the centre of the farmers field the pillar at the entrance looks abit similar to a trig. The white horse in a near by field is worth a look.hodder04/11/2013
Short detour from a walk on the ridgeway. Trigpoint is now at field entrance.rhalstead06/01/2013

Avebury to Winterbourne Bassett via Rockley & Barbury Castle. Narrow gap in fencing to SW is an alternative access point to the field for the reasonably agile.Smudge26/02/2012

No broblem with crops at this time of year! Climbed metal gate opposite the car park, then a few minutes walk to the trig.David Rawden21/12/2011

14.5 mile circular from just north of Ogbourne St.George, walked back along the byway from hell (byway east of Barbury Hill), just a mud swamp a Jeep was trying to but couldn't even get through it.DanTrig11/12/2010
Tried in March 09 but were crops in field. November 09 just the stubble left.destaylor12/11/2009
