From spot height 254 on minor road west of summit. Car park closed for forestry works, but could just squeeze one car into space opposite track. Track to unclear summit covered in brash from forestry works, but easy enough to pick a way through. KeithByTheC26/11/2023

13.4 mile circular from car park near to summit. Following paths to Turville, then re-ascending Bald Hill from the east. We followed clearing in woods to very boring summit. Heading back to the car park afterwards. Surprisingly quiet for a Sunday on most of the paths around here except for the woods the summit is in which was quite busy.DanTrig21/08/2022

From Cowleaze Wood Car Park. Misty rainy day very atmospheric in the woods. Visited the War memorial, High Point and the viewpoint on the opposite side of the road.Jephcote8323/12/2021
Parked at Cowleaze Wood Car Park. Did a 13km walk round Commonhill Wood and Charkley Shaw. Mediocre views. Most exciting view was sheep herding. Came back to discover my car had been broken into and contents stolen. A truly regrettable trip, that has probably put paid to my burgeoning ideas of hill bagging.Merculean08/12/2021

Pleasant enough stroll, clockwise along footpaths in Cowleaze Wood from car park of same name. Just 0.79km with only 12m of ascent so unsurprisingly a flat and indistinguishable summit feature. Plumped for area near HT electricity pole on or near 257m spot height. Returned to van and drove 500m SW down road to bag trig pillar inside cow field west of road.mntainman19/07/2020

1st of 6 tops (5 tumps) today on Stage 6 of the Ridgeway with Lesley on a route from Watlington to Saunderton. Lesley waited on a concrete block while i headed up a track over the road and onto a woodland track to reach the summit area then did a circular to take in spot height and take another track round returning the same way. Lesley was ok because she was included in a film a guy was making about the Chiltern Hills. We headed over to Lewknor where I intended to carry on to Adwell Cop...Dazingdale26/09/2018

County top outing, travel to Cowleaze wood not far from Watlington turn left in the free car park and at the end of the track park the car near a clearing.Instead of following the path across the grass follow the wide track towards the telegraph pole which the high point is near.WAYNE ROWLETT11/11/2016

From B4009 near Lewknor, up Hill road a stony track through woods to top. Followed path from nice green clearing to the telegraph pole, then to green for picnic, left my wife Nicola there to pdantically traipse round all high points, then we returned via Aston Rowant nature reserve path, after fruitless search for path to Beacon Hill to check out alt' summit. Someone has put a massive great motorway in the way!!! Had to go to Hughenden Manor NT place near Wycombe - part of the deal for going up a 'Hump', so will have to return another time for Beacon Hill!pdantic24/09/2016

It would be easy to visit the summit without knowing and I probably did in 1999. Did it for sure today and recce'd new access areas since I walked a lot in this area. Two more visits in 2016 to the scarp slope looking for local moths that only use juniper. The conservation of juniper there, struggling in the wild in the S, is commendable, as some of the insects that use it are not found in the N. A walk on the scarp side (the wonderful Aston Rowant NNR) is also commendable, a much more aesthetic experience than wondering it a stump or a tangle of bramble might be higher than the recognised top in the dreary summit area.pwheeler25/01/2016

A 5 hill category top. Pleasant flat woodland -simple loop on tracks from the large car park, a stones throw from the M40 which slices its way through the Chilterns known as The Stokenchurch Gap, or Aston Rowant Cutting or locally The Canyon. This is a steep chalk cutting, constructed during the early 1970s for the M40 motorway. It is 1,200 metres long and a maximum of 47 metres deep. The cutting is a SSSI of geological importance. Over 200 pairs of Red Kites can be seen in this area having been introduced in the Aston Rowant Nature Reserve and have bred successfully.Chris Pearson25/04/2015

County top No.35. Train to High Wycombe then bus to Stokenchurch. A leisurely walk via Wallace Hill and Lower Vicar's Farm and Cowleaze Wood to bag the top, then down Bald Hill to the Icknield Way and on to Aston Hill Bottom for the bus back to High Wycombe and train home. Not easy to find the top approaching from the eastern (Stokenchurch) end of Cowleaze Wood; no clear path and I wandered around in the trees till I came on it quite by chance. A lovely sunny day: distance 4.6 miles, time 2:22, climb 653 feet, temp 22 deg C.alan.65to7006/08/2013
