On approach from west the ground was waterlogged with no views. The summit is within a barbwire encloure with trig pillar. Views improved on walk back to car bur rain intensity increased | cjo | 31/12/2022 |
From west with easy parking and through knee high grass on ROW . | Mark Sims | 07/07/2022 |
From road, bridleway across fields, irritating BBW enclosure round HP and slightly disappointing views for a Hump. Maybe feels better if on a proper walk than a short bag. | pwheeler | 04/06/2022 |
Here for the trigpoint. TP:UK log:
Parked at SS 94374 37204 then followed the PROW toward the trigpoint. Trig is enclosed in a fenced off compound with barbed wire on all sides, couldn't see a gated way in. So if you want to hug it you need to get over the barbed wire fence. | thejackrustles | 11/06/2021 |
Parked by start of bridleway at SS 9432 3717 (space for 2 cars) - Through gate & across field of very inquisitive cows & calves - Across a second large area of pasture to fence junction & through a couple of gates - Short walk NNE to the trig point & summit mound; this is easily accessed through a pedestrian gate & over a low wire fence. Picked up the Coleridge Way from minor road to the west. Flat stroll. Found barbed wire compound easiest to access from north side beyond on far side of gate. Worthwhile view from top. With Tiarnán. | Pete West | 10/10/2020 |
West. Through Dunster to Timbercombe, then south up to the path the leads east to the trig on a mound. Slightly tricky barbie to negotiate to get to it. | vegibagger | 01/10/2020 |
Trig compound protected by at least three strands of barbed wire. Nevertheless worth a visit for the views. | Newton Maximus | 24/09/2020 |
Parked at bend in road directly north of Lype Hill. Follow path SSE and then SSW to HP. East following Coleridge Way before leaving it to follow track downhill towards Butcher's Farm. Following stream east around Throat Cottages and to Old Stowey. Follow track NW to road, east along road to gateway to the SE of HP. Back to road, Couple Cross and south to start. Windy, cold and dry. 5.53miles; walking time 2hrs,18mins; 2.4mph. | Howards | 28/03/2020 |
While on the Brendon Incline Challenge Event. Over BW fence to trig. | fosal29 | 17/08/2019 |
So easy. Mostly waymarked except for 10 metres. Both tops. | Eddie | 08/07/2019 |
From the west along FP. Reaching trig and HP over fence. | PeterD | 19/04/2019 |
From Wheddon Cross car park by the football field. Took the marked trail south and east up onto Lype Common. My plastic pipe device simplified the barbed wire problem. A pleasant pastoral hill. Onwards to Couple Cross Hill. Solo. | Man of Kernow1 | 06/04/2019 |
Parked at 95242 36541, north up the track and then made my way across pastures to summit which is surrounded by double barbed wire offset which makes it tricky to climb over. | clivevilla | 27/03/2019 |
During a long run on Exmoor, hitting the three highest peaks. Started/finished at Wheddon Cross. | bentimmo | 27/05/2018 |
From west on Bridleway. Easy apart from all the barbed wire surrounding the trig area. Oh and the Bulls. | jenx | 14/10/2017 |
Parked to SW at start of BW, room for couple of cars. Cross grazing pasture w cows and a couple of bulls, uninterested in us. Top is circled by fencing laced with barbed some rusty wire, fence posts not sturdy so crossing interesting. Highpoint is clearly grassed over manmade mound 15m or so SW of trig in enclosure | nordicstar | 14/10/2017 |
Area around trig and mound to south west both bagged. | Alan Caine | 24/08/2016 |
Parking on the road to the west (alt 1345ft). Public footpath across the fields. Easy walk | moorsman | 14/06/2016 |

With Mum and Dad from Kingsbridge via Coleridge Way. Then on to Monkham Hill. | davidpettit84 | 19/10/2013 |
easy stroll across two soggy fields from west. trig is enclosed by an unmarked fence with barbed wire. no problem though.. trig is mossy and likes to be hugged. | stig_nest | 23/11/2012 |
Easy walk from road. | arranc | 26/10/2012 |
Walked this and Monkham Hill together as they are only just over 3 miles apart. Starting and finishing at Kingsbridge made this a very pleasant 8 mile circular walk in a beautiful part of the country. | jonglew | 01/09/2012 |
Galltywenallt | 02/07/2012 | |
From gate to the W. Climbed covered building beside trig which is higher than the trig. | chrisbien | 21/05/2012 |
A determined attempt has been made to seal off the summit. England eh! | fasgadh | 01/04/2012 |
Trig point on top of a 'tumulus'. Dry and very sunny for late March! | Isambard | 29/03/2012 |
From road to the west. The trig is well defended by barbed wire but it's easy enough to hop over at the corners. | Herbert Anchovy | 11/01/2012 |
Parked at gate entrance at SS 94332 37169. Long lush wet grass to summit. (Might not always be wet!!) | David Gradwell | 24/10/2011 |
Easy stroll up on springy grass from road to west (whilst my considerate wife waited in the car). Flipping awkward access through barbed wire-topped fences; easiest where other baggers have clearly entered from the southern and western sides of compounds. | wheresthepath | 12/02/2011 |
Parked to West. Grassy stroll. | destaylor | 09/02/2011 |
good path then difficult barbed wire climb into / onto tumuli and trig | Chris Pearson | 10/08/2010 |
On tour in the Somerset Hills. Access via SS 943 371. Awkward getting into the enclosures where the trig point is situated and the nearby (man-made?) slightly higher lump. | summitsup | 03/04/2010 |
