Short pull up to Hoar Stones, then across to the impressive summit tor of Dewey Horse Stone Naze, back to Hoar Stones and then along the nice track on the ridge to the trigs at Outer Edge and Margery Hill. Back down the bridleway all the way to the car park. A splendid warm and sunny day on the Howden Edge. 21km with 500m ascent in about 5h 30m. | silveracorn_alan | 23/03/2022 |

Drove from Mcr Airport and met Dave early at Langsett reservoir carpark. Route was Hingcliff Common, Mickleden Edge, Cut Gate, Margery Hill, Outer Edge trig, Howden Edge, Horse Stone, Hordron, and Crookland Wood. Approx 12.5 miles; 1625 feet total ascent. Dry warm day, saw no other walkers after Margery Hill. | Skip | 03/08/2019 |
Came from Fairholmes CP and High Stones. Continued to Horse Stone before dropping down into valley. | PGCE | 23/06/2019 |
With E. Clear and dry. From King’s Tree car park (Howden Reservoir). Along forest road to stone footbridge at Slippery Stones then footpath above and beside River Derwent passing Swine Side, Oaken Bank, Lands Side, Humber Knolls, up Hoar Clough. After crossing stream path becomes very indistinct. Across Featherbed Moss and used GPS with 10-fig OS grid ref to find featureless summit. Very flat area. Tick. Continued across boggy ground over Harden Moss past Outer Edge trig point, path still indistinct. This would be tough in bad weather. From Cut Gate End with its large cairn down steep bridleway where a lot of erosion repair work is taking place with stone slabs and steps, to stone footbridge and retrace steps to car. | Beeliner | 11/04/2019 |
Picked up while on route to the Dewey Horse Stone Naze. Parked in the lay by on the A628 near the Dog and Partridge pub and followed tracks to reach a point due north of top then pathless moorland to find grid ref but there is a white cairn five meters away on the next peat hag? Nine mile walk in three hours. | WAYNE ROWLETT | 17/02/2019 |

From Milton Lodge on the A628 where there is parking at the start of Swinden Lane. Via good tracks to Hordron Clough and beyond before cutting south over heathery moorland. 6th. and penultimate top of 7 today on a great route from Fairholmes visitor centre to Dunford Bridge via Upper Hey, Howden Edge, Margery Hill, Outer Edge and Horse Stone Naze. As I had mistakenly veered off the route to Horse Stone Naze too soon it meant that I had already explored this top. Visited small cairn and higher Peat Hag about 30m away. Went back to bag Horse Stone Naze too as an out and back from here (avoiding the worst Peat Hags) | Dazingdale | 23/08/2016 |
