89224/02/2013SD 99795 14008  F: This was the featureless summit mentioned as the highest point. Grassy patch on a peat hag.
O: There is another contender at a small cairn at GR SD 99928 14045. Also height 476m on my GPS. Both these possible summits are close to some deep channels in peat hags.

7/7 From small layby at 007135 after checking out Buckstones bouldering but only had time to do a couple of easy ones and an ice lolly. Path north soon peters out, rough ground north to fence. Noticed a red (and white) herring non high point metal girder with flag on a stick south of fence. Actual hp north of fence arbitrary but decent views north. Grand evening.Nick Canute10/06/2023
Evening walk to find the summit, having been up here a few times without seeking it out in the past. From Pennine Way car park to south. Up to White Hill trig. Followed obvious path down and along the edge, not the fence. This is a drier route. Pulled up to summit once in line with it.meltdiceburg10/10/2022
Diversion off Pennine Way, from trig on White Hill. 1.3km each way.PGCE08/04/2022
Parked in the huge lay by where the Pennine way crosses the A672 and followed the national trail to the trig on white hill and then made my way over to Way stone edge, Three and half mile in an hour and half.WAYNE ROWLETT15/10/2021

Large parking area SW of Junction 22 at SD 9829 1417 - Up Pennine Way to whitewashed trig point, through gate on left & along trod to NW of fence - Shortly after final bend in fence, left trod & across rough grass between patches of heather to the unmarked summit. (S)gerrybowes30/10/2020

On rough track and open moor from J22 parking.rhalstead14/06/2020
As others from car park to trig point then followed footpath then fence line then over to top. Not as boggy as expected and better views then I expected, with a little walking around. Found bamboo stick in ground. Lovely weather for it, on my own.Walkingthedog05/03/2020

14:00, 10 degrees, not much wind, mist. From car park to south via Pennine Way, White Hill and fence. Boggy, cane in ground is probably the 'summit' feature. Worth it only for the exercise and company (Miranda).Wycombe Wanderer03/11/2019
From the pot holed car park to west, along PW to trig and then followed fence and on to flat top.PeterD25/09/2019

With E. From the car park by Windy Hill transmitter. Potholes bad but all the rubbish left = sad. Path to White Hill (Moss Moor) trig point then fence line to summit where someone has left a small stake to mark. Also went to small cairn (SD9992814045) just to be sure summit bagged. Not too boggy for time of year. Bright sunshine and windy.Beeliner17/02/2019
With SDT,JRT & ADT jnr. From the potholed car park by Windy Hill transmitters. Over M62 and past Green Withins Reservoir to Rishworth Moor (Dog Hill trig pt). Followed by Blackstone Edge. Back to car park. Then Way Stone Edge (via White Hill trig pt).ADT10/11/2018
Parking area at SD983714222 then ran along P/Way to White Hill. NE across moor to summit. Nice moorland + dogs startled a mountain hare on the way back. Ran with Mart + Pete plus dogs. Cracking tripJohn Eley10/11/2018
Revisited as I have not been that way for a while, I don't remember the trod along the fence from before but it does make it easier. I cut across to the A640 afterwards because I wanted March Haigh (Unlisted). That required a lot more effort.Aimless Rambler28/10/2018

Dusty Springfield had a hit entitled In the Middle of Nowhere. Now I know where it was written. Approached from the south where there a few car park spaces. Rough moorland but thankfully frozen and not wet bog. GPS essential today in the thick fog.Campbell Singer09/01/2018
Parking area just S of junc 22. Good track through snow to trig pillar then across rough snow-covered haether and tussock grass to the HP.jonglew27/12/2017

walked from Marsden station up to join Pennine Way where it crosses A640, followed it to White Hill trig pt and then turned east across boggy col to summit, which is very flat and bumpy at the same time. return was more direct and boggier and more tussocky.9 miles.IanHHill25/10/2017
From car park on the A672 just off the M62. Over White Hill and rough terrain to flat summit, visiting a few other high points (including new summit (2020) as well as the official summit.RobertP06/08/2017
From CP on the A672 just off the M62 J22. Burger van may be available. Straight forward up and back via the Penine Way. Surprisingly windy today.Newton Maximus15/06/2017
From east after Blackstone Edge and Rishworth Moor.Wheelsy22/12/2016
Walked up from stile on A640. Always wondered what was up here from drives past on the M62, ultimately a bit disappointing - heather, bogs and no definite top, but Kirkless completed :)the_adam26/11/2016
1st hill of five on a very tough and tiring day on a route from Marsden to Slaithwaite cutting across the Buckstones to Buckstone house and then direct to the summit. Snow underfoot, 2ft deep in places. Got 482m on gps having navigated direct to grid ref. Very indistinct top. It looks as though there are several contenders for the summit. This is a really boggy area but the snow covering and cold temperature on this visit may have actually helped in getting past the terrain. Will visit Way stone on separate occasion. Dropped down and across to the Pennine way en-route to Blackstone Edge.Dazingdale20/11/2016
Only suitable close parking to the south is a small pull-in, suitable for a single car, where Chamber Clough reaches the road (Alt 1443ft). There is a wonky stile over the adjacent fence, then it is a slow walk of half a mile over tussocky grass and clumps of heather which, today, was thankfully dry. 0.94 miles return, 40 minutes. The top, quite genuinely, could be anywhere. Visited the spot height then a couple of what appeared higher places. A place to visit only once.moorsman21/10/2016
Circular walk from Marsden via Buckstones and White Hill.berksbantam15/08/2016
13.1 mile walk from White House pub, walked along road and turned onto path along side old water channel, then took another footpath left which eventually climbed onto Dog Hill, walked south along trails to next old water channel and followed it Green Withens reservoir, then along path to join Pennine way towards Windy Hill mast, then along to White Hill trig and across rough and boggy moors to Way Stone Edge hopefully covering the summit, then back along M62 bridge and followed way across Blackstone Edge (previously walked in 2005) and back to pub. Hot, clear and sunny, got badly sunburnt.DanTrig18/07/2016
Rishworh Turnpike Inn for breakfast then parked just along the roas in the car park next to Booth Wood - Booth Wood - Rishworth Moor (Dog Hill 435m& Trig)- Green Withens Reservoir - followed water cut off to Pennine Way Bridge over M62 - White Hill & Trig - Way Stone Edge then back past the farm in middle of the M62 to get back to the Booth Wood Reservoir and car.briandavies05/06/2016
