Dreich day to do the county top. No-one in so no access to trig today but enroute between Scotland and Yorkshire so will return. | Lynnebe | 25/03/2024 |
Parked on Wedmore Road, up bank to fence, highest point you can now get to. Had time to kill so did a 1.5 mile anticlockwise circuit around to Scout Hut, then past college and shops and back to left of school to end of public right of way and back along it to start. | JulieB | 11/03/2024 |
Parked on Wedmore Road and walked a short distance to the top in the dark. | Wheelsy | 14/07/2023 |
Parked at the N. end of Wedmore Road, close to the junction with Langdon Road. A walk of about 300m up Wedmore Road to the summit mound. | gerrybowes | 09/07/2023 |
A quick walk about. | Play2End | 20/05/2023 |
Went to top of reservoir and to nearby fence, called at No15 to see trig, no one in, quick look over fence to see it | matty1971b | 06/04/2023 |
A quick bag. | robertphillips | 25/03/2023 |
Ran to the edge of the fence which seems to be the HP | madaddo | 23/02/2023 |
As Beeliner. | Wycombe Wanderer | 20/01/2023 |
Vehicle access road to Scout HQ now gated. Easy stroll to HP but difficult manoevre to rejoin carriageway of Hillhead Rd. | lordtonult | 14/01/2023 |
On own. Parked on Wedmore Road and walked over to hp at grassy mound with clump of trees. Not very inspiring! | Beeliner | 17/10/2022 |
Walked around the reservoir. | Andrew Simmons | 18/04/2022 |
Previously granted a visit to Trig by house owner this time cycled to path at rear of garden. | StanAllan | 12/01/2022 |
Stopped off on the way home after a few days visiting family. Yesterday visited St.Marys Island (5m) for the first time in years. Street parking. The trig can be seen through the fence, at the back of the garden of number 15. Documented high point is in the undergrowth at the base of the reservoir. Solo. | Dangerous Dave | 19/12/2021 |
Parked next to what I think was a scout headquarters and then wondered around grass area. | WAYNE ROWLETT | 14/10/2021 |
Not impressed | chrisbien | 13/10/2021 |
The summit photo is of the trig. The gr is in an area of grass near the bottom of the raised reservoir which I walked over too. Not being a trigbagger I didn't look for the trig. | clivevilla | 04/06/2021 |
TD, C & H. New high fence for trig - unreachable. | This Dog | 02/08/2020 |

Newcastle drive about and rest day.
2 of 5.
Parked on corner of Wedmore Road, walked over to reservoir corner and stood on highpoint amongst trees to NNE. Then went to top of reservoir but clearly man made then on to trig pillar location which since realised in garden other side of fence. | mntainman | 10/12/2019 |
Train from Edinburgh and 1 hour walk from station to visit my first and last Newcastle UA TuMP. Dog walkers eyed me suspiciously | Thearlaichdubh | 21/08/2018 |
Went to top of reservoir and to nearby fence. | PeterD | 08/04/2017 |
Kind lady Jane at number15 let me through her garage to the trig in her back garden plus the reservoir highest point was blessedly open access. How refreshing. I added to the recreating graffiti on one in the metal boxes with my Sharpies. | vegibagger | 31/12/2016 |
Visited reservoir - easy access, but lots of people around today. Waited for a suitable gap! | the_adam | 25/10/2016 |
Quick visit on my own on the way home from a trip to Edinburgh. | magirob | 23/09/2016 |
quick climb up to the reservoir top. trig point just visible through garden fence after scrambling through undergrowth. visited after completing Great North Run. | Hippo | 11/09/2016 |
A very short walk from the covered reservoir. Number 15 is the 2nd residence along the path but in august the foliage is dense and thick. Solo. | bolton | 14/08/2016 |
Reservoir top very simple to reach. Nearby trig in back garden of house, seen over fence, got to within a metre, took photo but couldn't read FB. Nice lady in house No.15 just going out, could I come back at 4 o'clock? Couldn't unfortunately. | Aye Jimmy | 05/08/2016 |

From housing estate, straightforward | rhalstead | 27/03/2016 |
Information from ngthack followed. Accessed via No 62 and No 72 bus from the city centre. | Moorponder | 18/03/2016 |
Unusually easily accessible reservoir top. If you then go up the footpath alongside the reservoir for a few metres, it is possible to reach over the back garden fence of No. 15 & touch the trig pillar. Flush bracket not readable. Not the first to do this, as there was a clear section of beaten down undergrowth to the fence. Apologies to the denizens of No 15 for trespassing with my arm. | ngthack | 26/02/2016 |
Solo | simon and co | 20/01/2016 |
Returning to Newcastle after a day out on the bike. Reservoir top but no fence. I did not know about the garden trig and spent time looking for it. | fasgadh | 01/10/2015 |
Drove to this one a quick wander around the back of the houses. Knocked on at number 15. Young lad happy to let me access the trig which stands at the back of their garden with flushbracket facing the house | stig_nest | 25/09/2015 |
could not find trig column, but reservoir is clearly higher. | arranc | 24/06/2015 |
Not my idea of hill bagging, but Newcastle is my birthplace, so seemed right to visit the highest point. Top of reservoir clearly highest, albeit artificial. Couldn't locate TP. | Crib Goch | 30/04/2015 |
Parked in nearby estate, then stood on apparent high point of reservoir. Finally, stood next to trigpoint(according to GPS)and confirmed it by looking round end of garden fence. With Bridget. | catman | 12/04/2015 |
With Catman. | rosiebridge | 12/04/2015 |
Parked at gate to reservoir: through and up on top. | GordonAdshead | 11/03/2015 |
Parked on main road then easy enough to get to the reservoir then my GPS helped me view the trig point hidden in a back garden. Unable to view the flush bracket. | Dugswell2 | 31/08/2014 |
Uninspiring. Typical summit for the North East | mcbiydw2 | 29/03/2014 |
Easy parking on the main road to the west (appropriately, Hill Top Road). Summit on grassy mound between road and the houses. Trig point lost under impenetrable vegetation but is not the summit. | moorsman | 19/08/2013 |
parked on local road about 300mt away, unable to find a trig point but a very large area of grass which coincides with co-ordinates, not the most exciting or challenging of walks!!! | geordie | 29/07/2013 |
Did a quick circular of the easily accessible reservoir. Decent views through the trees which are just starting to leaf. Like others, tried to locate the trig but couldn't without peering over people's garden fences. Happy that I bagged the highest point nonetheless. | RichieRambler | 11/05/2013 |
Didn't find the trig point but wandered around a bit to ensure covered summit. | Newton Maximus | 19/03/2013 |
when geocahing | broadoak2006 | 01/01/2013 |
A rare covered reservoir you can actually get to the top of. Worth coming here as the views are pretty good. | Richard | 13/08/2012 |
Parked on reservoir access road, climbed by house on the hill to clear high point on roof. Trig is on north side in either no.s 15/17. Go in winter months when vegetation would let you near to fence to check which! | nordicstar | 20/07/2012 |
