From A93 by Wester Micras. Planned Brown Cow Hill but car struggled on A939 with all the snow, A93 was clear so looked for a route. Decent track over The Maim to Geallaig Hill, deep snow most of the way today and no views. 6.3 miles out and back. | PDuncan82 | 10/02/2024 |

Walked up from the normal car parking spot. Started off well with light winds but soon 45mph + at the top. I was going to do the other three official summits but with the conditions it was back to the car. | Pilotralph | 04/02/2022 |

Knock of Lawsie, The Maim, Geallaig Hill and Creag na Creiche from The Strone road. Also detoured to the prominent cairn at the western end of Geallaig's summit ridge. Glorious views of Lochnagar's snowy Northern corrie. | Nick Down1 | 07/05/2021 |
Finished teaching at 3pm down at Crathie and was ready to set off by 3.20pm for a 2 hr - 12 km gentle track jog along the 4 tops and back from the lonely Strone road high point. (Had earlier enjoyed a quirky tradition with the children by waving goodbye to the Queen & Philip as they drove away from Balmoral after their summer stay). No one to wave to up here - royal or otherwise - just miles of heathery empty hills -just the brooding Old Man of Lochnagar across the Dee to the south with its superb corrie harbouring memories of many climbing adventures in summer and winter. Today 55 mins to summit then 25 min out and back to add the eastern sub-simm top. There is a sharp prominent peak on the west approach ridge when seen from the road - surprisingly prominent.. but only has a few metres of drop - made the minor detour there on descent. | Chris Pearson | 16/09/2020 |
From the Old Military Road, following the tracks in a circular route as they went over or by Geallaig, Creag na Creiche, The Maim, and Knock of Lawsie. Very impressed by the amount of pine and birch re-asserting itself on this otherwise barren hillside. | summitter | 05/09/2020 |
From Braenaloin up tracks to summit, descended W by tracks to near high point on B976, N down road (by bike) back to Braenaloin. With JAS. | kdbennett | 25/01/2020 |
SMMC Ballater meet, with Bill B, Jim J + Bob McQ. Started at 267 987, Knock of Lawsie, The Maim + Geallaig. Solo over Creag na Creiche, finishing down track to road at 319 002. | clashcityrocker | 08/11/2019 |

From B 976 up track. Excellent views in all directions. Close encounter with mountain hares! | MichaelF | 19/05/2019 |
Delightfully easy walk on tracks from The Strone road summit, via WSW ridge, then returned NW to Braenaloin. Beautiful views right down to Dee and over to Lochnagar round to Morven and Ben Avon/ Ben a'Buird. Just right as we were on our way from Tomintoul to Braemar. Had we given it more thought, we would have gone over Cnoc Chalmac, which looked appealing, rather than walked back along the road. nevertheless, a fine walk to an enjoyable summit. With Pete. | pwheeler | 23/03/2019 |
Done as part of circular route from Braenaloin on a snowy day. Ascended directly to Geallaig, then W along past Knock of Lawsie, down to the road and across to the River Gairn which we followed on tracks back to the layby. With HFS. 17km. | PiranhaFish | 17/03/2019 |
During a windy week in Tomintoul. After dropping Smithy at Inverey for attempt #2 of the week on Carn Bhac, moped around in Braemar resting the ankle I'd damaged two days earlier on Sgor Mor before noticing Craigendarroch above Ballater. Ankle feeling good after that, so quick look on Hill Bagging turned up Geallaig Hill. Plenty of offroad parking near Braenaloin. Through gate & up the track to the summit. Back by the same way & then back to Inverey to wait for hours for Smithy who was busy avoiding getting bagged by shooting parties on Carn Bhac... | NotReallyABagger | 14/09/2018 |

After lunch stroll from the track end shown on the map by the cottage. Just over two hours out and back the same way. A pleasant afternoon. | kenmorti | 19/03/2017 |
With Peterb. Started from the usual access point opposite Braenaloin and followed the vehicle track to the summit. Clear skies and good views but strong, buffeting wind throughout. Reversed route to return. | bowlesy | 03/01/2017 |
From Braenaloin. A sharpish scamper up the track to beat the rain blowing in from the west. Somewhat breezy on the top, so I was awfully glad of that shabby cairn! Didn't quite beat the rain on the way down...fantastic views until the clouds descended. | Gill | 31/12/2016 |
Almost the worst cairn ever | alda | 17/09/2016 |
from Balmoral Castle car park, but first bit was full of awkward rocks and vegetation and rather lacking in real path. Once up on the hillside, it was fine. | IanHHill | 29/08/2016 |
With GHC. An easy plod up from the main road. The best cairn ever! | Play2End | 27/08/2016 |
