Cairngorm Club weekend meet at Newtonmore. Solo. From at Coignafearn (Old Lodge). I went to the top of Meall a' Phiobaire and then to the summit of Carn Mhic Iamhan. I continued to reach summit of Carn na Saobhaidhe. I went southwards passing an ancient cairn, marked on map. This looked like a small burial cairn, with a collapsed entrance. I continued to Carn a' Choire Sheilich and Carn na Làraiche Maoile. Note added in 2015: According to DBIH the ancient cairn is the highest point of Carn na Saobhaidhe South Top although there is mention of an alternative summit further east. | pwbellarby | 22/03/1997 |
