On the way up to Arkle. Solo. | Dangerous Dave | 25/03/2023 |
From A838, south of Loch Stack. Took the private road/track to Lone. Then hill track to NC 32037 43167, from where a faint path heads steeply up away from the burn to Meall Aonghais. Contoured around this minor top to the bealach, then stony slope up to the summit cairn on Pt.758m. Abandoned going on to highest point due to hour and leg pains. Slow descent by outward route, visiting summit of Meall Aonghais. Finished after sunset. With JK, NP and KM, partially. 16.1km, with 825m of ascent. | Man of Kernow1 | 27/10/2022 |
Intermittent clearing and clashing. Occasional rain shower, but largely dry. Very slow slog over the boulder slow NE of Arkle to get to col for Meall Horn. Knew its run out of daylight. Long 12 hour day over three Marilyns and two hour 6km walk out in the dark. | vegibagger | 23/09/2022 |

I decided to descend from Arkle to Lone via Meall Aonghais. Very worthwhile, over quartzite pavements and badlands with good sections on rock ribs or just below them- thus dry underfoot until the last few yards by Bealach an Easain Uaine, where some hags were unavoidable. Down track from there. Glorious sunny day, afternoon light made Lord Reay's Seat look spectacular, the long descent just extended the enjoyment. | pwheeler | 17/05/2018 |
MMC Tongue trip with Jon Moss. Followed WH route. Initially lovely and sunny to east shoulder then driving rain going over the ridge to summit. 6 hours. | alexmaclennan | 22/10/2017 |
