As others parked at Kinnelhead.Andrew Simmons23/02/2023
11 mile anti-clockwise circuit of Hamarty Hill, Mid Height and Harestanes Heights, then a quick visit to Craighoar Hill, before descending north onto the track, and back to the car. Very boggy ground at the head of Rushy Grain and Penny Gill - visible as bright green streaks on the satellite view - would be best avoided! Parked at provided car park at 041-048, since farmer has largely filled the old one at road-end, with piles of gravel. Great views. Very peaceful.Toby-and-Dion05/02/2023
Route from E of Kinnelhead. Followed track to Lochanhead and then followed Lochan Burn for a while before direct climb of craggy nose of Harestanes Heights and traverse to summit. On to Mid Height (visiting various high points on flat summit area and then descent NE to reach track and return to Kinnelhead.RobertP26/08/2022
moderate cairn in rough grass with sheep and young lambs. HP could also be at boulder. wild viewsDenise 02/05/2021
Parked at end public road to Kinnelhead (NT 0331 0157). Excellent track to beyond Blairmack, then up to Whiteside Hill -> Hamarty Hill -> Mid Height -> Penbreck, and its SE Top. From there took a line across a very haggy Fortypenny Moss up to the southerly of the 2 Harestanes Heights peak (556m), then across to the main 578m top. Headed NE to pick up the outward track, ~800m West of Blairmack, for the return. Pleasant 12 mile round to finish up the Dumfries-shire Lowther Hills.jonglew06/04/2021
