Solo walk whilst on RBS Knoydart weekend. I walked clockwise from Inverie up the track through Mam Uidhe and onwards to Folach. Once I was beyond the end of the wood I struck up directly onto the Ladhar Bheinn ridge at An Drollaid. There was some passing low cloud whilst I was on the ridge, but through clearings I had great views down to Loch Hourn. I was also able to see Ladhar Bheinn's Munro Top at Stob a'Coire Odhar that I had climbed from Barrisdale some years earlier. I continued along the ridge to Mam Suidheiag from where I descended towards the River Inverie and the track back to Inverie. | langskill | 23/08/2008 |
With three friends. We took the boat operated by Billy Mackenzie from Arnisdale to Barrisdale. We walked up the track towards Mam Barrisdale and found a campsite. With lighter sacks went up a nice scramble to the summit of Stob a' Chearcail. We continued to the summit of Aonach Sgoilt and Ladhar Bheinn with scrambling from time to time. We passed over the south top. There are two tops close together. Both were visited - the second one looks to be higher. Three of us went out to the Munro Top of Stob a' Choire Odhair. From the summit of Aonach Sgoilte we followed a path down to join the Stob a' Chearcail scramble quite low down. The views were really good - the weather dry and quite warm, even late on. | pwbellarby | 31/05/2008 |

Epic! Full packs with Shaky & Davy Bell from Kinlochhourn to Barrisdale bothy. Left stuff. Now humid, windless & rain pelting down, headed up Stob a'Chearcaill. Steep bit muddy, slippery & bit scary. Over lumps to Ladhar Bheinn summit. No view. Back to pt 849 & direct line to col & then bothy. Two sleeping bags had appeared next to us & as we dozed off, their owners turned up, one of whom appeared to be Rab C. Nesbitt. Rab snored his head off. Together with sticky humdity & water torture of a gutter dripping water into a puddle meant no sleep. Climax arrived later when someone sloshed into now flooded toilet in a hurry, banged seat down and noises revealed reason for their haste. Ashamed to admit all 3 of us burst out laughing. On plus side, it woke Rab up & stopped the snoring. Left at dawn, still raining & with river getting high, abandoned other 2 Munros, walked out for breakfast in Fort William, a speeding ticket for Davy, the cup final on TV and a night out in Edinburgh. | NotReallyABagger | 28/05/1999 |
met a guy from Darlington on Ben Sgritheall previous day who said he'd hired a boatman to take him across Loch Hourn to the bay north of Ladhar Bheinn and then pick him up from Barrisdale after a circuit over Luinnhe Bheinn too and asked me if I'd like to join him. I delightedly jumped at the chance, with Jasper the Dalmatian too. Another hot clear day. Surprisingly, quite by chance on coming off Luinnhe Beinn back on the the main path through to Invereye, bumped into Roland and Ann Bowker!! | vegibagger | 19/05/1999 |
