Got as close as possible to summit on Pennine Way. Horrible soft tussocky summit. Decended north east. Going improved from Alcomden Stones where a faint path took us towards Crow Hill. Descened on ATV track east of Nan Hole Clough. | KeithByTheC | 17/08/2022 |
Short diversion off Pennine Way. Onward to Bradford UA summit. | PGCE | 09/04/2022 |

A circular walk through Bronte Country from Penistone Hill Country Park, visiting Ponden Clough, Alcomden Stones, Withins Height Boundary Stone, Withins Height (Round Hill) and Top Withins. As others, easy parking to NE in Back Lane at SE 0022 3658 - Up track to join Pennine Way & then up PW past Top Withins - Left PW shortly before col & WNW across heather & tussock to the unmarked summit. From summit, headed NE along a faint ATV track for about 80m to Bradford's UA top which lies by a boundary stone. Had I read Jim Bloomer's comment before setting off, I would have descended on this track to Top Withins. (S) | gerrybowes | 09/11/2020 |
After swimming at Lumb Falls (water temp 7.5 degrees C). Then drove to Walshaw Dean Reservoir in thick cloud and up PW. Sunny on the tops + loads of grouse. With Mart. | John Eley | 07/11/2020 |

From end of Back Lane with Miranda in early evening. Serious moon grass, luckily dry. Very small cairn at or very near summit. On to boundary. | Wycombe Wanderer | 16/05/2020 |
For Withins Height and boundary, parked to the NE in Back Lane SE002365. Enough room for a few cars. | David Evans | 13/07/2019 |
From the layby to N of the 389m spot height, Lad Law, then mostly following the boundary stones across to Withins Height (both tops because I forgot which was the right one!) From there back down past the reservoirs and up the road, stopping off for Hameldon on the way to the car. First real walk of 2019 so it felt a lot longer than expected... Except for a few small patches the moors seemed surprisingly dry, I wouldn't like to try this route after heavy rain though! | the_adam | 13/04/2019 |
From Ponden Resr, good roadside parking SD 9957 3711. PW mostly, then across some very unfriendly ground. | jonglew | 10/01/2019 |

Close enough after fumbling around trying to locate nearby county top. | Newton Maximus | 16/06/2017 |
Walked up from Stanbury then Followed Pennine Way [more or less] to Little Wolf Stones. Lovely day and good views. | IanHHill | 18/04/2017 |
1st of 4 hills today and my Calerdale completion on a tough route from Haworth in persistent windy and rainy conditions. Followed Bronte way out of Haworth, briefly detouring to explore Penistone hill trig, back onto Bronte way to waterfalls then continued on ridge in Sw direction dropping down to bridge at SD988356, following fp to Top Withens, continuing on Bronte way to SD980347 where i veered off direct for the summit. I passed a few stones that may have been dropped by previous summiteers! Continued to Withins Heights boundary, followed by a wild traverse to Watersheddles reservoir. | Dazingdale | 19/03/2017 |
Withins Height - Withins Height (boundary) from GR: SE 00238 36582 | ronaldo333 | 03/12/2016 |
Along PW from SW. Small parking area at SD948323 not on map. Found small cairn on Withins Height, but not boundary stone at WH Boundary despite criss crossing the grid square for 1/2hr. Must have nearly tripped over it. | mart0797 | 11/06/2016 |

Done on the Bronte Walk from Haworth. Parked in car park at SE 99826 35840 and, after visiting the parish church, took the trail across Penistone Country Park and track up to the Bronte Falls and up to Top Withins and onto the flat summit of Withins Height. Marked what seemed to be the highest point with three rocks. Returned using Pennine Way and down to Stanbury and via reservoir back to Haworth. | Man of Kernow1 | 20/06/2014 |
Done solo from Lads Law | Aimless Rambler | 12/03/2014 |

Solo linear walk on an overcast day from Oxenhope over by Top Withins and down via the reservoirs, Hardcastle Crags, Gibson Mill to Hebden Bridge then by the canal to Mytholmroyd. Reasonably straightforward navigation, slightly damp under foot. | JOHNS | 17/02/2012 |
A sign of changing times with big blue signs with Chinese writing pointing the way to Top Withins. The sign on the ruin makes me smirk - saying rather tetchily something like 'in response to numerous enquiries YES this is where Wuthering Heights is believed to be'. Kate Bush singing Wuthering with her amazing voice came to mind. Saw a black and blind (?)rabbit.( which Kate never sang about) | Chris Pearson | 03/09/2011 |
Did a lambing a Harbour Lodge Farm in April 1990. Thankfully the farmer collected me in his landrover at the start of the long farm track. | Dugswell2 | 01/10/2009 |
