Good stalkers path to col. steep rocky path up ridge to Choinnich then along snowy ridge to Chaorachain. Descend north to Pollan Buidhe with ankle deep wade over stream. From Craig, up the Allt a' Chonais to Bealach Bhearnais then up the ridge. Across to Sgurr a' Chaorachain and along the top to Bidean an Eoin Dearg. Then down the very steep northern slopes of Sgurr a' Chaorachain to the glen and back to the road. Started off cloudy, finished sunny with very good visibility. 24.7km | PiranhaFish | 30/07/2023 |
From CP at Craig, track to Bealach Bhearnais, Sgurr Choinnich, Sgurr a' Chaorachain then steeply N & NW back to track out. | welshyboyo | 30/05/2023 |
Sgurr Choinnich and Sgurr a Chaorachain, solo from Craig. 6am start with head torch on. 1.5hrs and 4.1miles along the track, I ascended directly up Sgurr a Chaorachain. I had decided to do the circuit clockwise to get the steep pathless slope of Sgurr a Chaorachain out of the way first and in my opinion, it's by far the best way to do the two. By 9am, I was on the summit of Sgurr a Chaorachain - the weather was dry and a little warm - the top of this summit was clear but Sgurr Choinnich was covered in cloud at that point.45mins later, I was on the summit of Sgurr Choinnich which was now cloud-free, but Sgurr a Chaorachain was now cloud-covered. Good timing I guess. Had great views over to the Cheesecake. Decent descent down to Bealach Bhearnais (just a few easy sections of hands-on rock) and then a straight-forward (if not wet in places) path back down to the main track. Didn't need to use the wire bridge as the burn was easily crossed, and was back at the car by 12:05pm | mproudfoot | 15/09/2021 |
Solo, running fr Craig, via Maoile Lunndaidh, Bidein an Eoin Deirg & Sg a' Ch. Glorious sunny day w great views. Feeling fit and making fast progress, though having to drink a lot of water in heat and sunshine. Was still contemplating adding Feartaig to an already long day, but after careful descent of W ridge, w no problems on supposed three tricky rock steps, I suddenly trod badly on a tussock near the col and twisted my ankle! Painful half-jog, half-limp all the way back to the car (5.7M, nearly 2h!). Car 2:30pm with relief, protein bar under car where cooler, and ankle caused problems for next few weeks on and off. | NorfolkPT21 | 22/07/2021 |
Fourth visit, only done as a necessity on the way to Sgurr na Conbhaire. And could I actually claim five, given that I returned over the Munro with a re-ascent of 180m? | Colin Crawford | 19/06/2021 |

Sgurr Choinnich and Sgurr a' Chaorachain via the usual route, starting off from the Achnashellach Forest car park. Snow on top and snowing. Descent from Sgurr a' Chaorachain was hard on the knees so I gladly accepted a lift from the deer stalker rather than 3 miles down the track. | tsharp | 18/04/2017 |
