Ben Wyvis and all tops with John from Ben Wyvis car park. Followed usual route up to An Cabar via the excellent path, then across to Glas Leathad Mor/summit - only the very top plate of the trig was visible due to the covered being covered in a thick layer of snow. From there we headed N towards Tom a' Choinnich, but instead of ascending to the summit, we contoured to the E to then head around the broad ridge to munro top Glas Leathad Beag (via it's S top). Returned back the way we cam to ascend Tom a' Choinnich then headed WSW down the rough slope to reach Allt a' Garbh Bhaid, which we followed through the marked forest to a track which we then then followed down to Garbat and back along the A835 to the car park. Snow on the ground above 800m on North facing slopes, and permanent cloud cover on both Glas Leathads, but it stayed dry, if pretty windy. Total time 6h 14min - just over 24km and 1300m ascent.mproudfoot17/02/2024

Parking at nature reserve car park NH411672 (fills quickly, no overspill allowed as the road has clearway signs). Std route on engineered path, relentlessly up An Cabar. Extensive damage now to upland mossy habitat, but many people ignored the signs asking them to keep to a central line so as to allow rehabilitationIsbjorn17/10/2023

Parked at the signed free BW car park and followed excellent path up An Cabar and the ridge to BW. Continued to shoulder of Tom a Choinnich before heading off E on broad ridge to Glas Leathad Beag. Returned over ToC and descended down pathless W ridge to Cnoc na Bana-mhorair and into the mapped treeless forest rides before picking up proper forest tracks back to the car park. Excellent day, cold, windy but largely clear. With Gillianrichard6921/04/2023
From free Garbat carpark to west. Headed up SW slopes of Tom a Choinnich. Initially followed a firebreak but then pathless heathery boggy terrain. Superb walk south along the ridge via trig to An Cabar, then west down the good but steep main path. Alone after initial ascent while Richard did Munro tops to NE.Denise 20/04/2023

Myself and Alma climbed from the Ben Wyvis car park. The forecast was very wrong so we had cloud from 600m and rain in it from 900m. The wind on the ridge was also well above forecast, but we made the main summit successfully.meltdiceburg17/07/2021
My first munro. Climbed with meltdiceburg. The mountain forecast got it badly wrong so we had dense cloud from about 600m, together with super-strong winds and rain at the top! Not a great first experience, but I made it!Alma Aurea17/07/2021

What a great winter hill. Brilliant scenery brilliant views. I glissaded most of the way down much to a walkers distaste as they said I was an idiot and never heard of glissading. I had only braked to say good morning and got an earful. Got down very quickly and safely. Company: Soloiandesbottes10/02/2010

New Year of deep snow. Came out to Wyvis hunting a good walk. Somehow parked off road, limited clearance of car parks, found the touristy trail well walked/skied and progressed to hill top easily on a beautiful crisp sunny day. Fine views 360 degrees. Third ascent, first w Jenxnordicstar30/12/2009

With three friends. From Wyvis car park just south of Garbat. We used the path that ascends on the north side of Allt a' Bhealaich Mhòir. The path has had considerable work done on it. However, the path was to a large extent covered with snow. It was icy low down and had been trampled down so progress was easy. We reached the summit of An Cabar. It was a beautiful day with superb views of snow covered parks, especially the Fannichs. We continued over the various tops of Glas Leathad Mòr to the main top. We descended north and on to Tom a' Chòinnich. It was very cold. We opted to descend WSW eventually following Allt na Bana-mhorair on the NW side through forest. Going was rather tedious due to the soft snow which had not been trodden on. We reached the road a little north of Garbat. A really good day, enjoyed by everybody.pwbellarby06/12/2008

With Shaky on a day of sunny intervals & blustery showers. Standard route from Garbat. Debated the idea of taking a golf club & ball each to see how many shots it would take between An Cabar & the main summit... (Again on 30/5/09 with Shaky, Smithy & Tom P on a blazingly hot, sunny day. Bizarrely met someone descending the hill clad in full waterproofs, hood up & gloves: forgot the sunblock maybe, or gear testing?)NotReallyABagger02/09/1998

With Harry who had opted to join me on a winter traverse of all the Wyvis tops from SW to a pre-positioned car to NE. Blizzard conditions on the top and dark not far away. We should really have turned back but didn't - feeling confident we could cope with the navigational and physical battle and do all the tops - we couldn't as conditions became bad - so just followed a bearing down to calmer sanctuary in the glen to the north and a huge track walk out in the dark having missed several Munro tops. Poor Harry turned his ankle and had a lengthy hobble. We peered longingly through the windows at the comfort of the lit but empty Wyvis LodgeChris Pearson23/12/1990

With my son, James. From Garbat we went along a forest track to NH421694, where the track ends. Hence by break in forestry (faint path) across moorland to Meallan Don, shoulder of Carn Gorm and up stalkers’ path to Tom a’ Chòinnich, Glas Leathad Beag, and Fiaclach*. We returned to the N of Glas Leathad Beag and to the S of Tom a’ Chòinnich to Glas Leathad Mor (highest point of Ben Wyvis) (trig point in shelter). We went on to An Cabar. Descent was straight down to break in forest leading to track starting at NH422678 which took us back to the car. Initially it was warm, becoming cold. Continuous slight snow/hail falling on summit areas. Snow patches above 800m. Good views in all directions. *Subsequently the name of this top was changed to Meall nan Bradan Leathan.pwbellarby16/05/1987

1985-1986 Climbed Wyvis with Al on a horrible morning - inspected the inside of clouds, but that was about it. I imagine the views towards the Moray Firth must justify a return trip.spstrachanblank
