From Glencalvie Lodge to Diebidale then E on excellent tracks towards Loch a' Chairn. Soon after crossing the Salachie Burn a newer track heads north before stopping at c440m at NH 506 863, leaving 1.5 km over open moorland to summit. Returned same route.benalder28418/02/2024

Parked at end of public road in Strath Rusdale.Crumblie221/04/2023
Parked by electricity substation (NH588908) W of Lower Gledfield, walked W along road past track at NH586907 (deer fence gate, locked, chicken-wired) to unlocked gate at NH582905, across fields to join track at ca NH NH584902, followed that to corner of wood (NH556872) [section of track S from fork at NH576897 is now blocked by planting, take W fork], then up old fence line past Creagan a' Choin Ruaidh, contored S of Carn an Liath-bhaid and Carn a' Chlaiginn, then directly up Carn Bhrain, to summit, then along ridge to Carn Salachaidh to summit, descended NNE, eventually meeting indistinct track from NH531897, followed that to gate into pasture (NH540899), and down improving tracks to road at Gruinards, back to start along road (6h50m)kdbennett16/04/2023
Parked at telephone exchange a mile east of Gledfield House and came up track shown on map just west of exchange. This track heads SW up hillside through wood and meets newer track not shown on OS maps that comes directly up form GH. (used this on way back). Up main track to corner of wood at 300m and then along the ridge heading west over multiple tops to summit of Carn Salachaidh. Contoured round north side of Carn a Chlaiginn on way back to avoid peat hags on higher ground to get back to main track back down to GH.Jossker25/10/2022

With Carn Bhrain. Biked in via the delightful Glen Calvie, visited this glen last year for the Corbett and was keen to return. 25km in total, 20km on good tracks. looking down on the book route, it didnt look very appealing. The return cycle was fabulous, barely turned a pedal, zoooom...Look out for the tame deer at the calvie gate, was there last time as well, lovely friendly hind.hils05/08/2022

From N starting at Gruinards, following track initially, then rougher ground on ascent to Carn a' Bhealaich. On to Carn Salachaidh with its rock tor summit, then Carn Bhrain, Carn a' Chlaiginn. Descending traverse on N side of hills quite pleasant to return to end of track at stream crossing. Good views, as far as Assynt.RobertP11/11/2021
From the end of the road at Strath Rusdale. Easy 6 miles up wide forest track, which is pleasantly open as most of the trees have been felled, and then once outside the forest boundary what is clearly an old road to about 50m past the far end of the small plantation at the end of Lochan a Chairn. Headed in a direct line over to the 510m summit and then along the ridge. Wet and a bit rough in places but in general not too bad. Returned the same route. 16.2 miles 6hr 27min moving time. The track could be done quite efficiently with a bike which would save quite a bit of time.JulieB12/08/2021

From grassy area just after bridge over Allt Ghilinne west of Gruinards. On good track above stream and crossed roughly where stalkers path from Gruinards Lodge descends. Then took line south east through heather to summit. Hard going! Descended over Carn Bhrain and down NE ridge to stream and on outward route. Loads of deer on the hill. A tough day.MichaelF24/07/2019

Roadside parking at NH 5476 9083. Progressively deteriorating atv track to NH 5439 9003. Continued on faint track for 200m then took a fairly direct line up and over Breac Leathad and on Carn Bhrain, whence across to here. On descent took a direct line to pick up end of the faint trail (NH 5344 8993). Very tough terrain - high heather and deep snow, perhaps toughest walk of the week. With Carole Engel.jonglew04/04/2018
