Logged Descriptions  (logged by 136 users)ByDate of Ascent
From B1976 along good tracks tacking cicuitous route before heading though openish forest and slightly overgrown firebreaks, passing the navigation pole enroute. The forecast rain held off untill back at car.cjo21/09/2023
Up via Navigation Post and back down fence alongside felled area.Chris Peart24/04/2023
Parked at Strathrory CP. Good forest tracks, next time I’ll drive them. Currently there’s logging going on and it’s easy to turn left at the start of the remaining forest. A northern approach looks a viable alternative.Adrian13/05/2022
No view, but it was delightful in the snow.nicolajane04/01/2022
Old quarry at 67772/77586. Firebreak slightly to right of it.duchally22/11/2021
From Strathrory car park via forest tracks and then firebreaks to reach summit.Winterfloodian28/10/2020
Self and dog, mainly on forest roads. The lower firebreak shortcut from near the old quarry is just about invisible, and anyway the views are better from the forest road. We went up the wide firebreak along the line of the wall, this was boggy. Returned WSW from the junction of walls; less boggy and with deer tracks to follow.Invicta1414/09/2020
Through forest from Strath Rory side to firebreak (690784, well concealed). Warm and sunny today.iangalbraith16/07/2020
From B9176 to Strathrory and beyond, cutting out loop of forest track by using firebreak from near old quarry site, rejoining forest track, then after track turns east for a few hundred meters, taking wider firebreak northish to fence. Walked along fence for 200m or so, then 150m into slightly higher part of forest firebreak. Returned by same route. As others have said, rather dull, but still took 2.5 hours. Recommend viewing Google Earth pictures beforehand to ease selection of firebreaks.willyross17/09/2019
Dull summit.BigJ14/09/2019
4 of 6: From Strath Rory CP at 668778. Left off the track up a wide break at 689784. Right at top for 2 mins then HP 2 mins down a minor break.ChrisR13/09/2019
From B9174 cycle trail car park. via normale forest track/fire break then sqwetch along fence. Over summit in firebreak all the way to navigation pole, quick drop back to track. Took shortcut doepwn obvious firebreak right down to quarry saves 20mins. Not a good hill limited views until fence at top, still not great, won’t be back. 4/4 for the day.N.Morters04/05/2018
From NH 6677 7785. Excellent forest roads to NH 6849 7856 then good snow covered fire breaks. Returned via the Scotsburn Navigation Pole (trig stn). Also took fire break short cut on descent starting at NH 6816 7786. With Carole Engel for the outward leg.jonglew03/04/2018
Parked at 668779. Followed the forest tracks to Strathrory and then uphill through the forest. Just before the track drops down a ride on the left brings you to an open space alongside a deer fence. A right turn on another ride will bring you to the summit. 2.5 hours solo return.bolton20/02/2018

Walked up from CP. Not sure why didn't cycle. Not an exciting summit.12.4K 2.5 hrs up and backNozzer30/01/2018
Skulking in the forest avoiding rain and gales out west. The voie normale from the Strathrory parking area, then up the logging road to the high point, and where it begins to descend, take the firebreak on the left. Almost flat, with a decent deer track, up to the fence, and follow this across boggy ground to pick up the summit firebreak on the right. Good deer tracks take you to the scruffy summit hemmed in by forestry.Gill23/12/2017
From cycle track car park to W. The key is the ride which heads NE from sharp bend at 683 786. Then easy up edge of forest before plunging into forest for a brief spell.Thearlaichdubh25/09/2017

My 1000th Scottish Marilyn. Not the best! But route finding all Ok.jenx23/03/2016
From the roadside CP at locked gate. Followed the old drove route on foot the FC track to highpoint. Then a long forest ride to high point as described. Dull, but Jenx's 1000th Scottish Marilyn 😀nordicstar23/03/2016
Cycled up Strathrory trail to 1km west of summit, then fire breaks and forest edge.Topographer5719/10/2015
drove up to highpoint on foresrty track below summit, then through firebreaks to the top.robertphillips12/06/2015

On road, through gate to bridal way gently up and around N side of hill. Long mile up over moor deteriorating to spongy wet sludge. GPS found top of hill outside forest fence. Climbed fence on splodgy moss/grass to top at 15.10. No cairn.arranc25/06/2005
