| Solo trip. Similar route to ManofKernow1 except I missed out the Meall Mor masts and did the Meall Beg ridge first. There is a huge new power line a few hundred metres west of the old one shown on OS 1:25k, hence the rather industrial access track and the large new quarry at the track junction NR852742. | Tump 4 out of 5 on a circuit from Erimes. I headed South to gain ridge at Meall Beag then headed Sw to reach Trig pillar and top. I did a wee circuit of all the raised land in the vicinity before taking a similar route back before profiling NE then East to Meall Mor, my final objective.. | Dazingdale | 17/05/2022 |
| From lay by just south of Sloc nan Fearna, back N to CRLS track starting next to Oakdean. Nice walk up the river through trees, then up into forestry. Track gets rougher after new mini-quarry. Up to the Hill walk sign (pointing the wrong way) where a decent path leads down to a red-topped post, then across to the fence junction/spring at 830747. A few yards S, you can step easily over the deer fence, then slightly up over the shoulder of Meall Beag, to cross the coire high up on good deer tracks, then a short climb to the ridge. Easy grass on the walk to the summit. Good views. Same route back until SW of Meall Mor, up (no path but not too rough) and over to rejoin track. | Parked in a lay-by on A83 at Sloc nam Fearna (grid ref. NR 86265 73781). Took the long winding stony track up to the radar station and summit. Then continued down to the bealach, and over the 5ft deer fence without much difficulty. Then took in a rising traverse SSW around Meall Beag and up to the summit of Stob Odhar. Glorious views, taking in the Inner Hebrides and glimpses of Northern Ireland. Varied the route back by following the ridge over the minor tops, including Meall Beag, back to the bealach. | Pushed and occasionally cycled up CRLS track to tree line then due west over tussocks and occasional deer tracks and over an unstable deer fence. Returned along ridge and back up to the masts, a nicer albeit longer route bar a tussocky and haggy col that also included the deer fence. | Parked on CRLS road just before heavy machinery working. Then easy 2 miles walking to masts. Decided to ignore invitation to take hill walk but instead kept to higher ground.
