Roadside verge parking (NF 8910 7712). Straight up, then across to Beinn Bhreac and down. | jonglew | 12/07/2021 |
From abandoned house as others. Easy going 4th hill of the day. Cold, fresh snow on high points on N.Harris | N.Morters | 04/05/2021 |
From the abandoned house to the west, where there is room to park off the road and through the gate. Faint path leads to second fence, which can be stepped over, and then up the open hillside. | Winterfloodian | 19/10/2020 |
A delightful and easy walk from the abandoned house. Pasture at first, then a step over fence to short, dry bog grass (sounds wrong, but you'll see what I mean) and firm ground allowing an easy quick float to the top. Lovely views of the machair and beaches to the west, Harris and Bernaray to the north and the water world to south. Fabulous! | Gill | 18/10/2020 |
From somewhat neglected building to W. With David S. | ger | 03/10/2019 |
Quick detour on Hebridean Way | nickywood1 | 13/06/2019 |
On Hebridean Way (or just off actually). | clivevilla | 04/06/2019 |
From the deserted house at NF888765, through a gate and deer tracks most of the way up. There are a lot of walls and fences shown on the map, all old turf walls long abandoned except one topped with a non-barbed wire fence. Cloud on the top ~100 ft came and went, the limited view being fascinating including the Lees and a world of water and rock where it was hard to make out the sea from freshwater lochs. | pwheeler | 19/05/2019 |
From the derelict house - a clear sunny day and tremendous views. | Chris Peart | 27/04/2019 |
2nd visit. A short diversion off the Hebridean Way, whilst recceing the route for Alpine Exploratory. Isn't it great when you get paid to bag a peak! | PGCE | 24/03/2019 |
at end of visit to Mhairi and family who had headed off on the ferry; this was my second of three Marilynns that day; after lunch at the Bernaray Shop & Bistro which is run by one of Mhairi's friends, I headed back across the causeway to North Uist; I parked just of the road (B893) and headed straight up the hill; I discovered that there was a more straightforward approach along part of the Hebridean Way from Loch an Sticur where there is a Dun in a lochan and information board; I returned to the car by my direct route. There were great all round views from the summit on what was a beautiful blue sky day. I took a brief detour in the car to look at the approach from Loch an Sticur before heading for my last hill of the day. | langskill | 10/08/2018 |
Most direct route while Maya slept in car. Fine day, with clouds. Windy and warm. | Rounsfell | 30/03/2018 |
With MN straight up and down from ruined house | trimarc2 | 06/10/2017 |
Easy up and down from the B893. | AndrewFinnimore | 21/05/2017 |

From the car park at Loch an Sticir. With Mora | BLACKHILL | 07/05/2015 |
Early morning. Parked at a deserted house at 888765. A short easy ascent on short grass and heather. As I approached the summit, rain set in to break a long dry spell. Continued to the Uig ferry. | Topographer57 | 21/09/2014 |
Is this the smallest Beinn Mhor? Gentle gradient all the way, following old heather covered remains of walls for a good part of the route. | dandaran | 08/02/2014 |
The North Uist landscape was an interesting change after two weeks based across the water in Leverburgh. | Alex C | 29/09/2013 |
W Jenx after Harris crossing, near point on road | nordicstar | 13/04/2012 |
Trig revisit. Roughish heathery climb, boarded-up house to WNW. Fine view. Orienteering clip at trig, presumably associated with Hebridean Challenge: first of several seen during the week. | RHW | 26/08/2007 |

Up and down from the road after stuffing my face at the hotel. | Eddie | 14/04/2003 |
Parked on the B893 and made the quick journey to the top. South Harris looked very near, as in fact it really is. | garyhoney | 04/08/2001 |
In shorts and willies non stop to top - 30 minutes. 16.45. | arranc | 04/08/2001 |
Date is first visit. Notes from later...prosaic ascent, fine views. passing pl on rd summit to W: 888767 | RHW | 03/08/2001 |
Cycled out early alone before breakfast from our B&B close by to the north on a beautiful morning. We had fled to the B&B to escape the noise and chaos at the youth hostel which had been largely taken over by a 'boistorous' school group one of whom during our short stay smashed a window and required me to use my first aid knowledge to deal with his bloody arm with glass sticking out - just like in one of those squeamish practice first aid sessions with fake blood, only for real. | Chris Pearson | 25/05/2001 |
