Walk in the Sidlaw hills. Round of 3. Auchterhouse, Barkello and Craigowl. | sarahk | 14/08/2023 |
As everyone else. Squeezed car on verge ( off the tarmac) tucked in wing mirrors, tyres straight. So many NO parking signs. Follwed finger board up tarmac access road. Scottish mule sheep and followers also group of curious cows and calves. Used dog whistle to advise them of my approach. Return same way. Wide views from summit. | VerySlowPlodder | 05/07/2023 |
From end of public road at Hillside of Prieston. Up on access road, return initially over stile then on path through vegetation on south side of fence back to the access road.(Quick leg stretch on journey south after overnight ferry from Shetland to Aberdeen). | Winterfloodian | 15/06/2023 |
Slow trudge up the Tarmac Road from the end of the public road trig pillar S1609. Numerically the number of metres in one mile bar one foot. And for the geeks like me the birthday trig Walk of Life of Marilyn Monroe it would be her 83rd birthday | vegibagger | 10/06/2023 |
With Eve. Heavily overcast but dry. Straightforward walk up from Balkello Car Park and gifted with expansive view over Dundee and the Firth of Tay. Visited Scroggie Hill on the return to enjoy a similar view but without a gang of masts peering over. | RufusHodge | 04/02/2023 |
Parking area at the top of the road, by Coldstream. Simple walk up the mast access road to the summit. Great views. With Mntainman. | Dangerous Dave | 15/12/2022 |

10km loop around the Sidlaws - Auchterhouse Hill, Balkello Hill, Craigowl Hill in just over 2 hours. Beautiful views all around. Schehallion, Ben Lawers and the Cairngorms were looking splendid to the north as were the Lomonds to the south and the coast to the east | Nicky C | 22/04/2022 |
Straight ascent from Balkello Hill via Windy Gates col. Really overcast and strong cold wind at top. West off summit then path to SW to lead back to Balkello car park | Jubilado | 11/04/2022 |

Space for a few cars at end of road at Hillside of Prieston. Easy and straightforward ascent up tarred mast road to the top (we didn't even have to wear walking boots). Good views from a nice vantage point as far as the Pentlands south. High cloud/sunny. 1 other person about. 213m ascent. Earlier that day we bagged Dundee Law. | DanTrig | 11/09/2021 |

2nd time. From Balkello car park via Auchterhouse Hill and Balkello Hill. | russell61 | 03/07/2021 |
From CP to SW. There are remains of a makeshift stile into the compound with the trig at NO 3772 3997 Good paths continue to Balkello and Auchterhouse Hills (both Tumps) and very much recommended. Excellent walk | carole engel | 11/05/2021 |

Ski tour to Craigowl from Lumley Den, via Gallow Hill. Return mostly same route. | clashcityrocker | 16/02/2021 |
Craigowl has become Dundee's alpine snowsports area! More skiers and boarders out today. Ascent from Hillside of Prieston, via rough line of road up Craigowl (road buried under snow). Descent more or less by same route. Wind having effect on snow - transportation + sculpting. | clashcityrocker | 13/02/2021 |
On alpine touring skis from road near Balkello car park. Excellent conditions, a foot of powder snow. Ascent by West Ridge, after slightly unusual journey to get to it. Return by traverse of south side of hill. | clashcityrocker | 11/02/2021 |

From Hillside of Prieston, limited parking, NO390395. Up Tx road. Private car came up - wondered how when gate has lots of locks - investigation revealed that the locks don't actually lock the gate. | Isbjorn | 08/06/2019 |
Third visit; TGOC 19, last hill of the crossing | Colin Crawford | 22/05/2019 |
Craigowl Hill, Balkello Hill and Auchterhouse Hill (respectively) from P in Balkello Woodland at NO364385. | summitsup | 09/05/2019 |
Foggy and frozen. Up the track until I got bored with it, then up the grassy hillside direct to the top. The cairn is nicer than the trig. | Gill | 29/01/2019 |
A circuit from Coldstream. Track and direct hillside to Craigowl (passing what could have been two rings of a hill fort?), outfklanking the heather where possible to the summit and cairn on Gallow Hill, then by increasingly tenuous tracks through the heather to Ironside Hill and back via the track descending from the nearby mast and a right turn through the farm at Balcalk. | Nick Down1 | 11/08/2018 |

Warm stroll up the access road to the telecommunications filled summit. | N.Morters | 06/05/2016 |
Enjoyable walk up but - Disappointing summit. Surrounded by barbed wire fences. | menmuic | 24/03/2016 |
With Jenx from Prieston. Followed access road to summit trig. Gate at bottom not locked and met someone up the hill that had been dog walking. But its a big gate with lots of locks and as near dusk thought better of going on further. | nordicstar | 02/12/2015 |
The gate was bristling with padlocks, so though open, seemed best to leave the car and walk. Dusk then dark. Nice views of the Dundee lights. Cattle ok. | jenx | 02/12/2015 |
