Parked near Glen Afton Water Works then using mainly wind farm tracks to Windy Standard and Dugland via Wedder Hill, Millaneoch Hill then onto Keoch Rig and Moorbrock HillLongwojo29/08/2023

From Keogh Rig. Wind farm road then grassy track by fence up to plateau. More wind farm road then grass to summit trig. Solo.Dangerous Dave03/10/2022
From Afton Reservoir car park on wind farm tracks to Wedder Hill then along ridge to summit.Winterfloodian21/09/2022
Parked at the entrance to the Moorbrock Estate, hiked to Moorbrock House, then took the track above the treeline and around the west slope of Green Hill. Followed a grassy track up the North slope of Green Hill and onto Moorbrock Hill. Then down to meet the Windy Rig windfarm (just completed, turbines are massive, though sparsely spaced out) tracks over to Keoch Rig. Followed a fenceline up to Windy Standard, then used the tracks of that older windfarm (these turbines are tiny in comparison), to gain Dugland. From I dropped down to Clennoch bothy for some lunch out of the sunshine. Hiked straight back along the track to regain my outward route. Very sunny day with modest gusts, but the flies were out in force, 06:35hrs all in.chillyman818/07/2022
Limited verge parking at start of new road to Moorbrock (NX640953). Moorbrock. If you take the first track after the residences on W side of Poltie Burn (unmapped), you can still get onto the track around Green Hill via some wide firebreaks which snake up towards it, then a short brush through the trees. ATV track to Moorbrock Hill, Alwhat, then new wind farm road over Keoch Rig, Windy Standard, Trostan Hill, Dugland on old wind farm roads, back to Windy Standard, down new wind farm road to Hags of Poljargen, then scree and pathless deep grass to Mid Hill of Glenhead, An Tx and deep grass on to Dodd Hill. Descended W on obnoxious veg to get to new wind farm road ASAP, which led back to the entrance gate to the Moorbrock estate.Isbjorn15/06/2022
Wind turbine central!! Climbed while doing a round of the Grahams/Donald's around Afton Reservoir.Jossker14/05/2022
From parking area just south of Afton water station, walked 100-200m then found minor signposted path uphill to right which joined wind turbines access track, followed all way to Wedder Hill, then paths across to summit.willyross06/05/2022
From Cairnsmore of Carsphairn. From CoC descended north then east to the col (point 465), involving a couple of deer fences and some churned up ground. Better ground towards the col south of Alwhat, where the new wind turbines start. Over Keoch Rig with a turbine virtually on the summit, then initially gravel then grassy tracks to the older wind farm on Windy Standard summit. Descended over Bawnhead and yet more new wind turbine roads to the dammed lochan at the head of Polliferie Burn, then good tracks back to Craigengillan.Owen B17/04/2022

Afternoon walk from Afton Filter Station with Judy and terrier Treacle. Waymarked track going uphill at NS629048 brought us to graded windfarm track which we followed until final turbine on flank of Millaneoch Hill NS630021. Climbed easy fence and followed up Blackgrane to turn towards Windy Standard wind farm to join another access track almost to summit trig. Operated ham radio for SOTA on summit using HF Morse / Voice.G4OBK (Phil)06/09/2020
Glen Afton round with Rob, Rosie and Lily. Followed the SMC guidebook route. Lovely part sun, part cloud warm day with a cooling breeze.alexmaclennan16/08/2020
Glen Afton to Windy Standard mainly on wf roads. Then over to Dugland and out to Upper Hill. Long haul round to Craignane (all wf roads) then back over to Glen Afton. 18 miles and 3000 feet in almost perfect conditions.SS15/08/2020
Solo. From parking at road end in Glen Afton. After ascending Black Hill, Wedder Hill and Millaneoch. From Millaneoch followed fence on left-hand side towards Windy Standard. Big mistake! Fence is electric and rather impregnable. Retreated to col with Millaneoch where electrification rather curiously stops abruptly. Up right-hand side of fence and easily to summit of Windy Standard. Back to starting point. Weather fine.pwbellarby31/07/2020
11th and penultimate hill of 12 on a 33.3km route from the Glen Afton road, climbing Yarngallows Knowe, Struthers Brae, Auchincally Hill, Strandlud Hill, Milray Hill, Craignane, White Hill, Meaul, Upper Hill and Dugland heading Nne to rejoin track and following it just South of the 601m spot then across rough ground East to rejoin track heading below Trostan and and then continuing Ene for the summit over the track then steeply to the Trigpoint. Descent Nw then Nne onto track heading for Black Hill, my final top of the day...Dazingdale22/09/2019
Parked in woods just beyond water works (11:05). Walked towards dam then took faint track up hill to wind farm road above. Followed this to col then along the ridge through the windmills to just beyond Wedder Hill. Then path along fence led along ridge to road SE of summit and past smaller windmills to trig. Back same route. Fair views, occasional drizzle. Finish 14:20. Fortunately I like windmills (or at least what they're for) and they provided an easy route.dbb30/07/2019

fa, solo, sunny and breeze on the tops, wet underfoot on the hills, with some land rover tracks, 25.5km, 9hr from clennoch bothy to new cumnock via, tracks, hillside to keoch rig with a new mast on its top, past the putting stone to windy standard along the wind farm tracks, down to a col and along a fence then up to Alhang, alwhat , meikledodd hill, then across a new track not marked on the maps or viewranger, blacklorg hill, blackcraig hill and down to quintin knowe to pick up the track down to blackcraig farm, then the minor road all the way to the train station in new cumnockrum doodle 07/06/2019
Solo trip to wind farm central. Bright and breezy. Why they had to plough up most of the surrounding peat in this particular wind farm escapes me.Invicta1422/05/2019
from Afton Waterworks via Windfarm access roads to Wedder Hill, then up the ridge. Afterwards round ring of Donalds to Blackcraig Hill. Mostly easy going.IanHHill19/05/2019
Great views. The wind farm tracks to Wedder Hill get you within easy reach of this top. Headed down to 624040 on the wind farm tracks and then up to Black Hill. Solo.bolton05/05/2019
Final hill in a good walk from Blackcraig Farm including Blackcraig, Blacklorg Alwhat and Alhang. Certainly lived up to it's name.MichaelF27/03/2019
Parked in front of large green prefab in Craigdarroch & up Struther's Brae & Black Hill. From Black Hill, continued along the wind farm track to the most southerly turbine & the end of the track at 630022 - SSW along fence line to the adjoining wind farm & a short walk along track before heading up to trig point. Reverse to junction at 625040 & then followed track back to Craigdarroch. (S)gerrybowes23/01/2019
Driven in same as Carole Engel, so short hoof up to top. 1200th HuMP summit. Deeply poignant day. Four of us met for the height checking of Dugland to confirm Alan Dawson's previous survey & its Re-instatement as a Donald top and lunchtime blether over tea and coffee in Norman Wares camper van. David Batty collapsed and died on his walk out east back to his car.vegibagger20/11/2018
Round of Windy Standard, Alhang, Alwhat, Meikledodd, Blacklorg and Blackcraig.PGCE24/09/2018
Solo, P at Afton WTP and walked up signed path on R to meet construction roads of expanded Windfarm: spoke with manager who advised route to WS (OS map is completly out-of-date) over Lamb Hill and Wedder Hill on wide tracks. Found path over Millaneoch Hill, col with wooden gate and up to ridge, turning R to reach trig pillar of WS. Threat of rain which didn't come to much. Returned to col to turn SE down to boggy col with Alhang. First visit to WS was on 28/01/2006 with Jackie and the Beatties, coming from Dalquairn up SE ridge. Third visit, 22/03/2022,solo same route to WS as second but continued W down to tracks out to Dugland recently promoted 612m as D/T; returned by contouring NE base of WS to col Millaneoch (wooden gate is missing) and by atv and tracks to Afton P.jacobus20/08/2018
Final hill in circuit of Afton water - down from Alhang along the fence to col, then up diagonally left (about West I think) to reach fence line over to summit. Beware the electric fence close to the summit. Summit is amongst the Wind farm, with a trig point. Descended through a forest ride to nearest track which led us down through wind farm and back to reservoir. Forest ride was very steep but got you onto the tracks quickly. Nicer way would be over Webber hill with the views (if you like wind farms!!)nickywood119/08/2018
Loop of Glen Afton from water works (car park closed but plenty room) taking in Black Hill, Struther's Brae, Windy Standard, Alhang, Alwhat, Meikledodd Hill, Blacklorg Hill, Cannock Hill and Craigbraneoch Hill. Excellent walking though lots of new wind farm stuff (restricted currently as construction site).SS14/07/2018
Cycled up to and along Afton reservoir, then further up Afton Water. Excessive wind turbine development and tree felling debris.Topographer5719/05/2018
From Afton CP via William's Castle, then Black Hill, Wedder Hill, Millaneoch Hill, Windy Standard, Jedburgh Knees, Trostan Hill, Dugland, across the Clennoch Burn to Keoch Rig and return. Afton is now surrounded by the sprawling and expanding ugliness of Brocklog Rig wind farm. To add insult to injury, construction workers were putting up a radio mast on the summit of Keoch Rig as I arrivedNick Down124/03/2018

A cold but clear Christmas Day jaunt with Shaky from Glen Afton. Parked short of Craigdarroch & took higher of two tracks above waterworks. R branch at the fork up to edge of forest near Black Hill & then followed boundary over Wedder Hill, Millaneoch Hill to Windy Standard. At the time, wind turbines were a novelty(!) but the area is as good as ruined now. Curved generally E towards Alhang & on to Alwhat & Meikledodd Hill. With daylight running out we headed due W over rough stuff aiming at the Alwhat burn & forest firebreaks leading to track round reservoir back to the car. Met lady shepherd with dog on track who agreed that this was all much better than mince pies & booze in front of the telly!NotReallyABagger25/12/2001

Bagged some time ago by mountain bike, through the forest from the west. Had to push the last bit to the trig, otherwise the whole route is rideable. This is likely to be the most interesting and aesthetically pleasing way to bag this hill given the huge wind farm spreading over this and neighbouring hills.Gill01/01/2000
