Parked just before Low Lann and through fields over gates, stone walls quite formidable. Kept to North/left side of wall. Up to top.colazione27/01/2024
From quarry as othersPeteF28/05/2023
Up by farm tracks to SW through coos with calves, down following wall to W and back along road. Bit of a race against sunset to the top (just made it), after driving up from Wilmslow. Rounsfell04/12/2022
Solo trip from the disused quarry. A good track for the first mile or so. It's best to go through a gate at 831903 and stay outside the strip of re-growing forest, crossing the wall using throughstones at 833903 then over a gate to the Laggan Burn, a tributary of which is followed to the top.Invicta1429/05/2022
Parked south of Clonehead, by second gate into large field. Crossed to north side of wall by stone steps in top corner of field. Straight uphill by wall a gate gives access to the heathery summit. Solo.Dangerous Dave23/01/2022
From road to the NW through gate and over stone stile to access the north side of the wall which was then followed to the summit.Winterfloodian22/10/2021
As Simon Winton but we crossed to the N side of the wall using the stone stile just after the N side pastures end. Gate through top wall to access summit. Path overgrown with grass and seeding flowers would be very attractive earlier in the year.m0jla16/09/2021
3 of 3: After Fell Hill we drove to the picnic area at 821903. Then as geralddavison except that it is easier to go through a gate before the new plantation and then use a stone wall stile at the wall junction above it. There is also a stone wall stile just below the trig. With Karen.ChrisR01/09/2021
Parking off road near ent to disused quarry (NX 8229 9030). Good farm track for a mile to a higher disused quarry then off piste to Barr Hill first, couple of walls to cross. Barr to Wauk, then dropped down to SE corner of a new plantation (NX 8335 9036) to pick up outward farm track soon after. All off-piste ground awkward - snow over heather/tussock grass moorland, 7.5km.jonglew04/01/2021
Park at lakeside picnic area on N side of A702 at NX 821903. Fishing lake not on maps (2019). Walk to start of track at NX 822902. Follow obvious main track via several junctions to climb gate/fence into new forestry plantation at NX 831904. As of 2019 the forest is new and can be easily crossed to exit at small wooden gate (poor condition) at NX 833904. Head NE to gate in enclosure NX 833905. Follow indistinct quad track to summit. To reach the trig you have to carefully cross the wall.geralddavison08/03/2020
Parked just off the A702, 300 metres South of Clonehead. From here, just follow the finely built wall all the way to the top.Simon Winton08/03/2020
Parked in layby at NS 813907 and straight up from there, crossing new fence into former forestry. Good views. Return same way and like others found stiles on the way down although some were very dangerous. Two pairs of buzzards.MichaelF23/03/2019
Parked by gate on A702 as described by others on a very warm February day. No cattle and very little mud.Lionel Bidwell26/02/2019
Cow pat corner. Parked at the field gate on the verge. Across the field, hopped the BWF at the wall (and found the gate on the way down). A decent path along the wall. Over the desperately dodgy stile to the N side of the wall with great care (noticed on return that there's a better stone stile over the cross wall to keep you on the grassier and drier S side, and a stile to get to the N side higher up), then up a rushy path next to newly planted sitka to a gate. Heathery moor beyond, path by the wall and a short heather bash to the trig. Decent views. I was very glad the hill was frozen solid, it would be gruesome otherwise.Gill01/02/2019

With GN and MN. Parked in old quarry and followed track to new plantation which we crossed and then followed ATV tracks to top. 2 walls to cross. Cows no problemtrimarc223/08/2018
Dodging the rain showers parked on road to West of hill, along side lane out of the way. Then directly up rhs of wall, where you find a stile to let you over left and on up the lhs of the wall to the summit. Nice views, could be better if you avoid august rain showers!nickywood118/08/2018
Parked by gate nx824911, rough ground plenty of friendly cows. easy climb up steps in the walls.G0HIO29/05/2018
Parked at disused quarry, 823903. Through gate and track goes almost to top of Laggan Park. Some dairy cattle, completely disinterested. On to summit. Not the shortest way but the driest. Bit cloudy but good views.iangalbraith19/04/2018
From Tynron road end up through field with sheep to avoid cattle in adjacent field. Keep to the left of the big wall near summit.NormanW18/04/2018
Quick jaunt after Scotland scraped home against Italy. Parked at gate then up over step stile and on to trig. Returned other side of wall (better underfoot but wall and bwf to cross).SS17/03/2018
From west just south of Clonehead. Directly through field (gates road and top) then followed north edge of new wire fence to wall. Over wall then up slope in ATV tracks along wall to summit trig (north side of wall). Quick 45min round trip at sunset.N.Morters18/12/2017
Parked at Clonehead. Generally very easy ascent, kept to north side of wall (cattle on the south side). Nice view at the top, lovely late afternoon light on the valleys below. Pleasantly surprised.Owen B04/11/2016
From gate on A702, as others, handy stone stiles just where you need them!Chris Peart25/07/2016
Threatening cattle at 824912 so I approached from the south up the Laggan Park road. Farmer friendly and ok with me about this when I asked him.Just under one hour return on this hot, sunny day. Solo.bolton05/06/2016
Time to bag a small Ma before afternoon walk on Queensbury. This worked well, starting from GR 824912 on A702, as others. A stone wall stile gave access to the more attractive moorland on the N side of the wall- flowery in places- and the summit. Fine views, best visibility of week as far as Skiddaw. Much better walk than it looked on the map. Pastures on S side of wall gave quicker descent until I had to cross one of those rickety stiles- not recommended. Sunny spells day after a dry spell- so dry underfootpwheeler16/05/2016
From A702 as described by others. Route and write-up at: http://gayleybird.blogspot.co.uk/2016/05/wauk-hill-and-queensberry.htmlGayle07/05/2016
From the west, starting at farm gate at top of road pass. Safe parking on grass verge. Over this and one more gate, then over two stone wall stiles to the summit. Views to snow covered Cumbria and Pennines.Topographer5721/11/2015
Parked on verge by farm gate at NX82429 91105 – Across field to top left corner – Used stone step stile to cross wall – Stayed on left side of wall to reach trig point. If you decide to cross over to RHS of wall (possibly easier underfoot), there is another stone step stile near the summit so accessing the trig point is not a problem. (S)gerrybowes16/11/2015

From spot height 143 on A702. Through cattle field with bellowing bull (no problem, give him a wide berth. Kept on right of wall. Best bet is to take the ladder stile at wall corner 8377 9096 to reach the trig point. Operated ham radio for SOTA from summit.G4OBK (Phil)16/04/2014

W Jenx. Identical ascent to last time, except didn't use the wooden stiles. Over stone step stile then stayed on LHS (Notth) of wall. Trig is that side. No cattle in lower field so quite firm underfoot this time.nordicstar24/11/2013

Evening ascent from Maxwellton Loch.neimcv07/05/2013
Parked on verge at GR824912. Across wet farmland and followed line of walls/fences to top. Boggy all way, rickety stiles still there as others described. Top is fine viewpoint of Nithsdalenordicstar02/01/2012
Started at the small loch at bottom, plenty of parking. No path to follow and very boggy in parts, also lots of dykes to cross and with very rickety styles.biggaz77718/08/2011
From west on a bright cool morning crossing stone wall style only. Up and down in less then an hour.Dugswell203/05/2010
Revisit. Grass & heather summit. From SSW, road jct, seem to have taken the gated rather than stiled route this time. Pasture until last wall. My penultimate LR78 trig: just a Hart Fell revisit remaining.RHW28/02/2010
Parking on main road due W, simple and pleasant ascent alongside stone wall crossed by various dubious-looking rickety wooden stiles.agentmancuso24/01/2009
Easy route from W very open farmland, took more discreet route through open woodland from near Maxwelton House. Trig on knoll at top. Met a person - first seen on a hill in three days in this part of Scotland!Aye Jimmy15/02/2008
First hill of day on way to Tayport. Met Pete Milne on way up.chriswatson26/03/2007

From Penpont. Grassy field (no beasts) to cross 8' stone wall by wooden stile and up on buggy track to see column ahead, on other side of 5' wall. Crossed this without disturbing a stone. 11.10.arranc16/10/2001
Stopped on the minor road to Breconside. Used the access track to Lagan Park farm to get in the right vicinity of the summit. Once through some fields the summit was easily gained.garyhoney22/07/2000
