Anticlockwise tour of 3 Donalds with Kirsty & Robert from Gladhouse; thick mist at top after good views on ascent.barnz4802/09/2018
From Blackhope Farm. Followed track alongside Blackhope Water. At sheepfold below Wooly Law, took path NE, then SE to Blackside Rig. The hand-railed the fence to the top. NB There's a vehicle track on the other side of the fence which leads almost all the way to the top, and makes for easier going than across the heather /peat-bogs.dunx200522/08/2018
From the parking area south of Gladhouse reservoir just before the sign that prohibits cars from going any further, follow the track round the Kipps walk to the fence and follow to the top. Eight and half miles in three hours.WAYNE ROWLETT01/08/2018
From Gladhouse Res out to cottage and up Hirendean Hill. Very dry making going good to Blackhope Scar by fence from The Kipps. Then across to wind farm and Bowbeat Hill before taking atv track towards Dundreich (bit of heather bashing but not bad). Return by Jeffries Corse and good track to Gladhouse Cottage.SS08/07/2018

From the summit of the B709 at 347464 underneath Burntshell Rig where there is plenty of parking. With J on a baking hot & sunny day. Don't try this route if its been raining a lot! We stupidly put our legs over the fence & heather bashed our way up the first rise. Instead it's worth walking 300m N on the road & there is a field gate with a nice track. Fork L immediately & then L again a little higher to join the main fence again. The track is now grassy & continues further than the OS Map shows to the first 3 way fence junction. Forked R & then L at the next fence junction near the top of the aptly named Rough Moss, the ground getting rougher at every turn. It's worth moving away from the fence at this point heading more or less directly for the summit - the Garvald Punks are every bit as tough as they sound(!) & there are various ATV tracks in places 100m or so from the fence which makes the going slightly easier. Back by the same route with an out & back to Whitehope Law.NotReallyABagger26/05/2017

Large car park S of Gladhouse Reservoir with plenty of birders as Hawfinches & Bramblings about. Followed road to farm at Moorfoot & then track S beside River South Esk to small hut. Track up to ridge & along fence line to summit. 4 hours total.rogreeves08/01/2017
Last Scottish Ancient County Top. All done in 8 months.Gladhouse Reservoir, Moorfoot, Hirendean Castle, Hirendean Hill, The Kipps, over the moor to fence and thence to summit. West to steep but straightforward descent beside Long Cleave and back along River South Esk. 8.5 miles.callumorr20/10/2016
8th hill of 11 today on a route from Peebles to Leadburn via Venn Law, Maisingland hill, Whiteside edge, Cardron Law. Hog Knowes , Bowbeat rig head and Bowbeat hill using fenceline to summit that is definitely not at the trig point but as stated around 15m sw of the trig.Dazingdale05/05/2016
Plenty space to park at 348465 on west side of B709. Started from there up a steep bank then through heather to join a good track at approx 346466. Left it at approx 344470 and headed west through heather(not as thick as earlier) and the odd bit of track. Headed over Garvald Punks. descended via 599m point.duchally03/02/2016

Last of these three quite tough yomp for Moorfoot Donalds. From Gladhouse Reservoir. Can see Edinburgh in the distance.nickywood104/05/2015
From Gladhouse Resr via Cleave Rig.By keeping just below the ridge we avoided the peat and had interesting views of Long Cleave to within 200m of the summit. Down by the fence NW, tracks W of pt 542 and a nice pasture ridge, Hirendean Ridge to the castle. After a wet morning it was sunny and the views over to the Pentlands and Edinburgh were tourist brochure beautiful. A very enjoyable route (4.7 h)pwheeler20/09/2014

Solo. After a late start due to weather not all that good. From parking place at SW end of Gladhouse Reservoir. To end of road at Moorfoot and south on track. At end of track followed bits of path up Long Cleave to summit of Blackhope Scar. Highest point probably a few metres SW of cairn. Carried on to Bowbeat Hill and Dundreich.pwbellarby28/01/2014

Lay-by on S. shore of Gladhouse Reservoir Along lane to Moorfoot Track past ruins of Hirendean Castle to brick hut Up NW ridge to summit of Blackhope Scar N. down by fence and then picked up track down The Kipps Track back to car.
