From minor road , where there is tarmac to nicely park vehicles NT 612 636. Southwards using estate tracks, crossed stream at Fasseny Cottage using bridge. Estate tracks , where the estate tracks run out, back to standard heather moor. On to boundary with wind turbinesn crossed the fence, easier terrain there ay Little Says Law almost all he way to summit. Across another fence. Heather burning in force, path vague in places will dissappear. V old atv , doen Sheil Rig and Dun Side, where i heard and saw first Golden Plover. Early on breeding ground. Heeps of red grouse….stream crossing and almost damp feet. A lovely day with sunshine. And i met someone elsen!!!VerySlowPlodder07/02/2024
from minor road to east parking at NT614636, where there is a sign indicating when shooting is in progress.BLACKHILL06/09/2023
From road to east on tracks via Faseny Cottage and Dun Side.Winterfloodian28/08/2023
From Faseny Bridge to Killpallet Rig, Little Law, Hunt Hill, Seenes Law, Lowrans Law, Harestone Hill. Good track S of quarry then Grouse butt track over Marlion Grain Rig to mapped track all the way to trig. Fence hop to Meikle Says Law (boundary). Followed fence boundary to windfarm, going through gate where boundary swings E. Left track at E spur to mast & good grass track to pylon track. Return to Faseny Bridge. Bone dry 24km, after a month of no rain.Lynnebe03/06/2023
With Sue from layby at Redstone Rig, track down to Faseny Cottage. Then track alongside Faseny Water, crossing the burn five times, fortunately it has been dry and didnt get wet. Could be tricky if in spate. Track all the way to summit trig point. Good views to previous days walks.Frank28/05/2023
10am, overcast, brisk south-westerlies, 11-17 degrees. First real test of the Approach 1 - passed with flying colours. Via Faseny Water. 1 hour.Wycombe Wanderer18/05/2023
Repeat visit whilst visiting the CoH. Up and down via Dun Side.PGCE13/04/2023
parked in gritted area NT 61260 63665. Down to Faseny Cottage. Burns all in spate. Had to cross the bridge opposite the Cottage and jump the Lamb Burn (this was actually a one way jump) - followed flooded track too far to the west, having missed smaller track to summit. Return path was just as problematic.Jhimmy25/03/2023
Parked in layby at Redstone Rig, track down to Faseny Cottage. Then bulldozed track alongside Faseny Water all the way to summit trig point. Couldn't make out any path towards Sheil Rig, an ATV track about 500 m in the right direction was no help so I headed over a bit further E and picked up a neglected track- very kind on the feet and quick-over Dun Side back towards Faseny. Wind farm part of view from summit, but great views over to the Fife Lomonds and as far as Ben Ledi. A good route for avoiding the wind farm being much of an intrusion on the walk.pwheeler18/09/2022
After Lammer, followed path down hill and to reservoir. Made the decision to go up hill next to damn but think would advise following grouse butt road instead. Once reached road, followed round to just about Harestone and then b-lined across moorland to road just west of summit. Easy walk from there.JAdair9715/06/2022
With E. Parked in small layby on minor road opposite gate down to Faseny Cottage. Took track alongside Faseny Water which crosses stream several times as it winds round and up to summit trig point. Then over fence for 100 metres to Meikle Says Law boundary and Berwickshire Historic County Top on the heather moor. Retuned following faint path over Sheil Rig and Dun Side.Beeliner27/04/2022
Tracks and ATV trails from Faseny Cottage, up Dun Side to Meikle Says Law and the historic county top, then track and cut heather crossing to Harestone Hill. Back along the track running through the glen between East Rig and Dun Side, jumping several sections of the burn where the path crosses them.summitter03/12/2021
Much the same as Roblex. Lost path on descent but hit gravel track after some peat hags.m0jla07/09/2021
Track and then moorish path from NT 612636. Operated SOTA on short wave at trig point. Wind turbines causing interference on receive in he wet conditions.G4OBK (Phil)31/08/2021
Parked above Faseny Cottage in large layby at NT612636, down the track and across the burn, taking track up Dun Side the Sheil Rig, becoming a very simple foottrack but following up to the summit of Meile Says Law, continuing on 4WD track down to Marlion Grain, following that back to Faseny Cottagekdbennett16/08/2021
Clockwise from Faseny Cottage. Track petered out a few hundred yards short of summit. Clear track for return with a couple of streams to negotiate.the pigguy 27/06/2021
2.1 of 3: Parked in the layby above Faseny Cottage. Along the Faseny Burn road. Went across to the boundary GR. Then direct route back: lost the path. With Karen.ChrisR07/09/2020
Linear run back to Longformacus.Iloveducks07/09/2020
Second hill of the day - my last county HP in the S. Uplands, my 100th marilyn and saw my first adder so absolutely chuffed. Gigantic slog from nr. Faseny.iangpark06/07/2020
Mostly done on good tracks in warm sunny weather. With Brian R.Play2End25/08/2019
Alone. Ascent via landrover track round northern side. Descent directly down ridge with indistinct pathSpudGunn08/07/2019
Track from road to Faseny Cottage, then ‘middle’ track that goes up the ridge. Good track to start but eventually becomes indistinct. Lots of Grouse around. To trig and then across fence to Berwickshire County top. Came back down via track from trig, which took longer than ascent.PeterD05/07/2019
From the Longformacus road down to Faseny Cottage (where my great grandfather lived in 1881) then up the track by Faseny Water to the summit (several crossings). Returned by Sheil Rig.SS28/04/2019
Up the track from Faseny Cottage with Sail. Back same way after visiting the Berwickshire County Top.Dangerous Dave15/04/2019
Solo. I parked at roadside parking above Faseny Cottage. Followed the track that goes down towards Faseny Cottage and across a footbridge over Faseny Water. Followed the track towards Little Says Law. This is a substantial track as far as a track junction, then becomes a rough track, little used. From there I followed a fence to the summit of Meikle Says Law. The boundary between the historic counties of Berwickshire and Haddingtonshire (later called East Lothian) runs near or not far from the fence. From trig point climbed over a gate to go south to the highest point of the historic county of Berwickshire. On return used a substantial track that descends from the summit of Meikle Says Law to the glen of Faseny Water. It had been misty almost all the time on the walk, but began clearing up towards the end. No precipitation.pwbellarby06/01/2019

Preceded by Dirrington Great Law. Followed the 'middle track' from Faseny cottage via Dun Side. Last section over rough heather. Dry & overcast.Roblex17/06/2018
Standard ascent past Faseny Cottage. Clockwise circuit on tracks with last Km on ascent across moor as track fizzled out.KevPalmer08/05/2018
Standard route from above Faseny Cottage up Dun Side. Slightly wet feet at the ford, couldn't be bothered to detour to the footbridge. The track gets progressively muddier and fainter and then becomes a barely visible path. Came off slightly too far east in the clag and had to contour round. Three mountain hares seen, white underneath, grey/brown on top; I didn't know they were present in the Southern Uplands.Owen B30/03/2018
The standard route from Faseny, but what a challenge today, in deep snow. Quite hard driving up the hill to the starting point (most cars didn't make it), and amazed to be able to park (the snow plough had shoved the snow away from the parking place somehow). Easy going on the track at first, degenerating into knee deep snow and deep drifts. Never mind, it's good for me, and it was very, very pretty.Gill11/02/2018
Parked on minor road Gifford to Longformarcus - track past Fensey (caramel coloured) cottage - Over Fensey Water - Dun side - Sheil Rig (Open Heather Moor - just keep heading upwards) Summit and trig (by Windfarm) - Little Says Law - followed Easter Lamb Burn back to Fensey and car.briandavies26/10/2017
With Steve Smith. Roadside parking on minor road to NE, at access track for Fasney Cottage. Track most of the way, becoming fainter, then non-existent, then over easy heather.jonglew16/10/2017
Parked at 613637 at gate to the modernised Faseny Cottage. Easily over the Faseny Water (new bridge down stream if required) and then up track to summit via Dun Side. Lots of hares near the top on this well managed grouse farm. This approach avoids the wind farm as much as possible. Could cycle all the way via track up Faseny water.mindlessflogger30/07/2017
Revisit from road junct to NE, via Dod Law & Harestone Hill.agentmancuso18/02/2017
From NT613637 where there is good parking. Followed tracks up Dun Side to reach summit. Returned same wayraffemeister19/12/2016
Reached this top from the lay by opposite Faseny cottage on the minor road between Gifford and Longformacus, this 6.5 mile walk with 270m of climb can be found in Jonny Muir's book of UK County tops and took me all day as I climbed Meikle Law instead which can be reached from the same road and the locals don't seem to know there are two hills of virtually the same name!WAYNE ROWLETT23/08/2016

From Fasney Cottage, used the track all the way to the summit following Fansey burn...return over the moor to alternative track and as previous posts tricky to find on upper section. Great views albeit the Eildons blocked by the wind farm to the south. With SuzanneN.Morters15/05/2016
Parked up from Faseny Cottage. Road runs west, then south, then east all the way to summit. Hopped over into Berwickshire. North East return via Lamb Burn. 6 miles.callumorr06/04/2016
From Faseny, we followed the track (almost a road) along Faseny Water and all the way to the summit. Then we had trouble finding the track (not a road) back down to the north-east, but in clear dry conditions it wasn't an issue. Route-finding might have been easier in reverse.Pete R10/10/2015
Parked at gate above Faseny Cottage and followed good track almost to the top. Harder finding it on the way back, even on a beautiful clear day.aul-fogie30/06/2015

From Faseny rd end after Spartleton. To avoid wet feet use the bridge below the cottage and contour round to obvious track. Pleasant trudge . Fortunately bog was frozen.Thearlaichdubh26/12/2013

W Jenx, from road above Fasey cott. As Jimbob and others, take ford then direct track up hill. New road becomes moor landrover trail, then path and above 450m nothing but heather for 200m. Path re-emerges leads to trig and over fence to second county top.nordicstar10/11/2013

Parked at the end of the road at East Hopes. Trudged uphill over the heather moors to finally intercept and take the track to the top. Was shouted at from a distance to "get off" from the farm workers - these boring moors are for grouse.derekblackburn16/04/2010
