A torrid afternoon walk with Brian R. Too hot, hazy and little wind.Play2End25/08/2019
From Millknowe, by paths onto Spartleton Edge, to the summit, returning by the ruins of Gamelshiel Castle. Superb views over Whiteadder reservoir.Nick Down110/08/2019

Cold up clear. A pleasant afternoon stroll via the tracks starting from the bridge, parking on the verge next to the track. Returned to the road at Millknowe.Roblex14/12/2018
From small car park by reservoir bridge - edge of White Adder Reservoir below Summer hill - Hall Burn contour path - then up to Spartleton summit and trig (low cloud hides the view). Returned via Sprottylea Rig with a visit to Gameshiel Castle (a place to sit in quiet contemplation - a reiver stronghold - hidden up here?briandavies11/10/2018
Parked in angler's car park by bridge - track along reservoir - up valley to castle - took contouring path shown on landranger to meet bulldozed track which took me to the top. Good views today.Chris Peart21/06/2018

Parked nt6458464211 used by anglers, other parking by cattle grid. took path through gate at back of parking area. Interesting castle ruin marked on the os map. good paths all the way up.G0HIO17/05/2018
Grotty weather so couldn't find anywhere not too muddy and unobstructive to park near Millknowe, so parked at the reservoir bridge. Then along the track to Gamelshiel Castle, across the burn, then up to the highest point of the fence, then straight up the faint path past the grouse butts, picking up the track near the summit.Owen B30/03/2018
A great hill, and a nice walk. Parked by the reservoir bridge, took the track below Summer Hill, over Hall Burn (very small) and there's a nice, dry, grassy ATV track going directly up onto Sprottylea rig, by a plantation, and heading round to the NW side of the hill, where it joins an ugly but functional bulldozed track to the top. Would also be easy to go straight up the SW side, but I was feeling lazy. Nice views if you look away from the wind farm. Easier parking than Millknowe.Gill10/02/2018
With Alex Cameron. Roadside parking on B6355 near Millknowe. Farm track initially, across Nettle Cleugh then a direct line up over heather/grass moorland to the top.jonglew18/10/2017
Misty at the top but still an enjoyable ascent and an area I'd like to explore more closely some day.Alex C18/10/2017
Straight forward ascent from Millknowe (NT65279 63987). Pick up track above Millknowe and follow all the way to summit and trig pillar. High point between cairn and trig pillar.SteveSmith17/10/2017
Parked at 645642 and walked back up road to Millknowe farm. Followed track to Gamelsheil Castle although there's not much left of the track or castle. However after the castle the track improves up the the col and gate which gives access to the top. On descent went back to castle and then down the track that lead direct to the parking space. Nice hill despite the windfarm. Saw one deer.mindlessflogger30/07/2017

We went through the gate at NT 6493 6414 (room to park one car on verge there) and approached the top from the north west(40 mins) using mostly quad and slate tracks. No fences to climb. W Jenx. Parking on verge at Milknowe. Head through gate and aim for coppice on hillside, not path on map. At trees gate leads to new track which leads to summit. Lovely top with trig and cairn and super coastal views totally spoilt by massive wind farm on next ridge. Didn't linger this but headed to Meikle Says Law in view to West.nordicstar10/11/2013
